Okay, maybe not. Forget about her brief and limited governing, she has no experience in the world. Real life.
This is the problem that I see with Sarah Palin. She has lived in small town Alaska her whole life and went to school in Idaho. She knows nothing about big cities, their problems or their people. Big cities along with their businesses and people run this country.

Has she ever even been to Philly, DC, NYC, Chicago, LA, Miami, Atlanta etc?????? There is no way that you can run this country without that experience and I don't care what anyone says. She is in way over her head. I am still shocked that they picked here, it's almost kind of embarrassing.

I think we're making too big a deal about levels of prior experience in government. Sure, times are different now than they were in 1860, but there have been few presidents with less public service experience - with less administrative experience of any sort, for that matter - than the greatest president in our history, a one-term congressman turned successful corporate lawyer ... named Abraham Lincoln.

Palin seems bright enough. A lot brighter than the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and, I venture, brighter than the guy who heads her ticket.

Lack of experience is not what I meant when I said the issue is her ability to serve as president in the event of McCain's incapacity.

What concerns me - really concerns me - is her world view. Her philosophy. Her politics. They are alien to me and, polls show, alien to most Americans, as well. And this is the candidate John McCain selected as the single American best qualified to lead the nation through a great national emergency (which would necessarily be the case were a President McCain suddenly struck down in some way)?

Ummmmmm ... I don't think so.

Someone in this lengthy thread characterized Gov. Palin as something like "a brilliant and necessary choice." I laughed when I read that. Oh man ... How in the hell can this country ever get anywhere with the weight of that kind of thing dragging us down?

It will be interesting to see the Palin/Biden debate. I've met Sen. Biden. He is a most impressive man. And he will remind Gov. Palin, I hope, that she is not the only candidate with a compelling life story.

Of course that is your view; the left has elected to pursue the placement of an inexperienced individual at the top of the ticket, exhibiting a willingness to have [allow] the same shortcoming “not a heartbeat away but directly in the role.” Arguing such position so vigorously baffles me personally but…”I get it,” passion is a good thing. I also clearly understand his proponents don’t want to [can’t?] accept that as fact and have/will continue to rationalize their decision and that’s ok, that’s what we humans do, fight for what we believe, consciously and subconsciously. Resume’s side-by-side, only the obstinate can continue to argue the point. It’s good entertainment though, at least for me, akin to me trying to argue the case that the current incumbent is a better public speaker than your candidate…and believing it as fact.

Your concerns? Strangely enough, I have similar concerns, real concerns - his world view. His philosophy. His politics. Socialism is alien to me but…I’ll keep watching those polls favorable or other-wise.

It’s good to see you back B. Hope all is well with the brother and the other challenges. I’ve made five, maybe six posts since you were around last. Not much interest around the fiery rhetoric and “chatter,” I miss the ol’ “broad-n-deep” discussions of days past (my issue, not the board). But…as you can see from the above, I haven’t changed much.

Take good care,

Nah...he went through a very public impeachment process to provide his explanation, right or wrong. Check the records. (I didn't support that action BTW, I'm all for gettin' head married or not regardless of a current job title)

Agreed, those in public service and private industry / business. Edwards and his upstanding "hump the help" effort with a dying wife and family at-home come to mind of late.

Shit-bags everywhere, demeaning one deserves another. This is a bad path here.

You left out Washington and Jefferson. But who cares.
