Default Cortisone shots and the IT band / TFL

For the last couple of month's I've been dealing with some annoying hip issues thanks to going too gung-ho on ATF front squats after a year+ layoff. The TFL/top of the IT band around the hip is giving me a lot of problems - I saw a pain doc who told me it was trochanteric bursitis and gave me a shot there, which helped a little but missed the actual affected area by about 3 inches (gotta love docs)

I'm wondering if another cortisone shot in the actual affected area would be useful as even box squatting with bodyweight is giving me some flareups that last for days .. I believe it;'s the tendons running along the top of the IT band as it describes an arc from the bony protuberence on the top of the thigh up to the top of the TFL. It's impossible to explain to the doc what the issue is as he barely speaks english (gotta love canada!) so im thinking of asking him 'just shoot here' if it's worth it

I took a month off, iced 4 x 30 mins a day, 1600mg ibuprofen and gentle stretching so I've exhausted the conservative approach it seems :z

I would suggest you use a great deal of caution for a couple of weeks after taking that shot. It makes the soft tissue pliable and actually somewhat mushy. It will make you prone to injury in that area for awhile.
