Default Steak sauce???

I'm working my way through college, so buying really nice cuts is usually out of thequestion unless there is a big sale. I often buy the bulk steaks or roasts and marinate them, but does anyone know how to make a steak sauce that is fairly healthy and tastes good?

Any type of steak sauce, either homeade or bought is going to contain massive salt. Worchestire Sauce is based of the old greek recipe for GARL which is fermeted fish entrails. Worchestire is basically made from anchovies. There is a product called Dale's seasoning which is very good and they have a low sodium version with almost 0 carbs/fat. Its very strong and used as a marinade. But if you mass dilute it w water and soak it for 24 hours b4 grilling u may be able to get the "walmart" taste off it (I know what you mean on that btw)

Remember, you should no longer be eating food for taste anyways. My buddy Tren essentially just chases chicken breasts with water.

Thanks for the seasoning advice.

I just don't believe that food has to taste like shit to get bigger and stronger. Now if I was dieting to get 4% BF, I'd agree. But I'm not sure I'd want to even think of competing for a long time.

You're right -- food doesn't have to taste like shit in order for you to eat it and grow.

I know this because I cook for Ulter The man GROWS, believe me, as long as he is eating often each day.

For the most part, our eating practices include mostly home cooking -- we go out for sushi once a week and sometimes 1-2 more times at sit-down restaurants if I don't want to cook. We eat a lot of protein, whole grains, lowfat dairy, and produce. Ulter snacks on Clif bars, organic tortilla chips/salsa, pretzel sticks. That's about all he eats that is processed (that we have at home).

Anyway, here are some easy marinade or sauce/topping recipes for steak:

Grilled Balsamic-Marinated Rib-Eyes with a Balsamic Barbecue Sauce Recipe : : Food Network
The first list of ingredients there is for a marinade, using healthy oils and very cheap balsamic vinegar.

Jamaican Jerk Flank Steak Recipe : Robin Miller : Food Network
This one is more of a seasoning rub; just sub Splenda for the sugar portion, even though it's really not that much sugar to worry about, IMO.

Marinated No-Mystery Meats Recipe : Rachael Ray : Food Network
One recipe, many marinades and variations.

Ginger Flank Steak with Wasabi Smashed Potatoes Recipe : Rachael Ray : Food Network
If you like Asian flare, try this marinade. I buy ginger jarred, already crushed/peeled, so I just take out what I need from the jar. It's in the grocery store by the jarred, pre-minced, pre-peeled garlic.

Hope this is helpful

Very helpful.

Before I read this I looked at some of the meat in my freezer and just shook my head. Now I'm excited to try these out.
