Last year they lost Tiki Barber, the most productive player on the team, and were even better than the year before.

Great points ciph. It was their pass rush that won them the SB, and they lost a few key players.

Perhaps. But it can't rain all the time.

But I'll say this - both the skins and giants looked laughable thursday. Granted, the giants are a defensive team, but considering just how poor the skins look, I wouldn't wear out that laurel too quickly.

The giants are still good, no doubt, but don't believe for a second they haven't taken a step back. The Cowboys are improved, significantly, especially considering they took their biggest weakness and made it into a strength. The Eagles? Still chunky. Redskins? ROFL.

I'd be more worried about making the playoffs than I am about some other team's playoff records, considering how you played the other night. A good drive is one thing, but you can't play an entire game as if it were the preseason. They'll have to do better than that to make it.

LOL, I will keep this thread alive this year. Your dumbass forgot to mention the cow"boys" produced the most pro bowl players... EVER!. last year and all are coming back!! but we suck and JJ is an idiot, just like when signed TO... you are right!

The Cowboys are improved? If they are going to scare anyone in the NFC they need to get Romo's head on straight first. He's three years into that offense as the starter and still acts like a Freshman... not good. Dallas has a decent run game to fall back on for a while, but without their QB/GQ staying focused then they won't be any more special than the Vikings or the Bears.

The NFC is always a crap shoot until we're four weeks out from playoffs. Sure the Giants looked good against one of the (potentially) worst offenses in the conference, but it is way too early to pick the top contenders. By week four/five teams will start to show their true weaknesses and strengths.

One thing that bugs me is when I hear 'they're injured' as an excuse for a team not doing well. It's a non-excuse. Injuries shouldn't be a problem if the team has depth. Injuries are inevitable and the teams that are prepared for them are the teams that make the playoffs.

**For the record I do like the Giants, but I cheer for the Hawks above all.

True, Romo has to get it together but it's a team game. They were one dropped pass from the reality of actually winning the first playoff game and sending the midgets home. It didn't happen, no excuses, but putting the shoulder on Romo is a bit unfair. During the season Romo was insanely good, not sure why you'd call him a freshman in that regard.

As for being improved, yeah... their greatest weakness has been turned into a strength. Last year teams passed on them all day due to having such a weak defensive backfield. Roy Williams will now be out on passing downs and you'll have Henry, Jones, Hamlin, and Newman in the backfield all at once. All of whom excel at pass coverage. I'd say that's a pretty significant upgrade.
