Just got into an arguement with this retarded doctor!

So I work as a nutritionist at a variety of clinics, and some of the patients I see are preganant.

Well, i've had my fair share of dumb people, but this doctor just took the cake

So this girl comes in with her bodyweight of a normal BMI, only a slight above wt-gn for her pregnancy (a whoppin' 5-lbs over ), and her labs are normal for her iron, etc.....

BTW....this MD does not have any affiliation with the clinics i'm at, he works privately.

So this girl almost in tears, busts out telling me that the doctor was yelling at her telling her she was fat (all 142-lbs of her...pregravid wt being 117-lbs at 5'3"), and telling her that he wasn't going to see her anymore if she keeped gaining too much weight blah, blah, blah.

He was mad that:

1. Her iron levels were supposedly low....even though they clearly were not.

2. She was a whopping 3-lbs over in her wt-gn for the last 2 months (5-lbs for cumulative wt-gn).

3. She had low blood sugar levels.

4. Supposedly she was fat


This dude is a complete moron. This guy, had been advising her to eat a vegetarian diet, with no meats (not even lentils/beans) etc, only egg whites (no yolks), only salads and vegetables, NO STARCHES, no afternoon (dinner) or night meals......basically egg whites, vegetables, tofu and water!...oh and only Prenatal and feso4 pills.

WTF???


She had a glucose tolerance test performed (1-hr gtt) like 2 weeks ago, and he was yelling at her that her blood sugar levels were low.

Do I even have to explain WHY all this is happeneing???? I mean, she had no clue, so that made it a bitch for me to explain it to her on why all that was happening without over-riding anything the fukktard MD had her on.

Finally, I just told her to get a new MD.

I mean....no starches, no eating, walking/exercise will = low blood sugar levels.....DUH!!!

The last labs she had performed, her Iron levels were normal. He may have took another test, i'm not sure, but even so, DUDE.....why a fukking vegetarian diet???

So anyway, he's fukking her up more than helping her, and I just couldn't swallow my breath without adding my 2 cents on this crap, so I told her to find a new MD. She was basically passing out almost from no energy and low blood sugar levels....mainly due in part by following his advice!

It gets better though.....

So after she leaves, I call the office and ask to speak with him. I had my number blocked, and I wasn't going to tell him any info on myself of course But I was gonna tell him off for his stupid practice.......btw, this wasn't the only girl i've had contact with stating this scenario with the same doctor. Most come in with tears.

Well, as you expect, I was denied to speak to him....

He is an Indian doctor btw....and I bring that up only so that the next part makes sense...lol.

SOooooooooo...........

I call back after my lunch with my best Indian voice and tell the receptionist:

"Hello, this is Dr. Patel, can I please speak to [jackass]?"

receptionist: "What's your name again?"

Me: "Dr. Kumar Patel, and i'm calling to speak to ....."

.....like 45 seconds later....

"Hello, this is Dr. ......"

At this point I layed into his asss telling him how retarded he is, and of course stayuing anonymous. I told him I was going to call the board on his "questionable" practice."

He just hung up on me....lol

It was fun though

I would never go to an Indian or Egyptian doctor; there are some fine ones I'm sure, but it's too easy to buy a medical degree in thos countries (I know because I've been there). My doctor is Persian and he's great.

LOL....that's funny you mention that because just last week I was in a debate with some Peruvian co-workers bragging that their educational level was far superior to the USA

I about crapped my pants laughing so hard when they were saying that they were "TEACHING" biochemistry to other students at the age of 13!!!

I'm not one to judge other people on these grounds....but if a 13 year old was TEACHING biochemistry at such an early age, they would have FULL-RIDE scholarships handed to them to some of the most-prestigious colleges in the world, NASA, etc, etc......AND NOT working at the same place I do...LOL!!!

I'm not sure what type of biochem they are teaching over in Peru, but uhhh.......I don't know

That makes me SO mad but I understand. I often want to hit MDs with a bat...not all but some. I wanted to kick one today for putting someone through ten times more misery than he needed to go through for no actual reason.

Who the hell advocates a diet like that in a pg patient? Poor lady. As if the hormones and body changes won't make her uncomfy in her skin enough then she gets bad advise and an ego kick.

I think it's great that you called him on his BS advice. Unfortunately there are too many doctors like him....maybe not quite that bad but fairly close in their level of ignorance.

Ok...this story right here wipes the slate clean. Everyone should forgive you for your pratical joke yesterday for this! That jerkoff deserves to have his license pulled and doesn't deserve to be a doctor!!! I'm glad you yelled at him! He deserves a good kick in the ass!!!!

Actually though, I don't usually like to criticize doctors because imo, they have a LOT riding on the line each and every day. Some people will sue at a fly landing on their head. I see them put up with a lot of BS on most days, and to be honost, I see how they really need to seclude themselves at times. Most are very cool, and then you have the 1 jackass that will give them a bad name. I think most MD's could benefit from having better social skills, but they can be 'normal' at tmes too. The MD's who specialize in particular practices, I can understand how they make it short when asked questions by individuals where it would take a year for them to even understand by trying to answer their questions. In other words, it's hard to explain something in a few sentences or even 20 minutes to somebody with an inferior education, that took somebody like a doctor years to learn.....same with all science fields too. I'm sure Macro could post up things on receptor physiology that would sound like foreign language to most people, and I imagine it would be hard to really explain every detail of that in every thread that comes up as well....hence the fragmented sentences. I get the same when people come up and want diet advice....sometimes it's just not that easy...lol.

This guy definately was under the dictionary as a jackass though. I think what makes it worse is that we get so many people coming in with similar complaints about this guy, so it kind of gets old.

I thought the "Kumar" name was brilliant though
