OK I had to switch insurance as the cobra plan from my divorce ran out. I went in and signed up for a good plan through medical mutual... the same company that had been insuring me for the last 5 years. They bounced the policy back stating that I am overweight. Despite my arguments and those of the agent issuing the policy along with my doctor I have to pay for a higher risk policy than your normal couch potato...... ridiculous.........

Yep, unfortunately they go by the BMI scale... I was thinking about this the other day when my mother's fat friend was denied coverage.

btw can you have your gf check and see if she can add you to her policy. The offer alot of partners insurance these days.

I had it for my ex and we weren't married.

I had the same thing happen with AIG. I wanted an additional $250K of term life insurance for less than $20 a month. They told me to get preferred rates I had to weigh less than 221 lbs.!! LOL!! I started asking her where they got that information and she couldn't even tell me how they came up with that.

The funny thing is that I already have preferred rates with my other insurance company and they did a physical. The nurse came over to do the checkup, took one look at me, laughed and approved the preferred rate.

I feel your pain though. That freaking BMI chart is a bunch of bullshit.

The funny thing is that the same company did send a nurse out to check me out for my life insurance and I passed with flying colors... low bp, low resting heart rate, I passed the drug screen and my total lipids were 145.......

That is just it. I cannot imagine not having it. I ride my motorcycle too much and face it I am not young so I have no other options.

Oh as for the almonds go to sam's club. They have the huge bags there for baking and they are allot cheaper than buying them in the grocery store...

Same here...my life insurance policy is higher risk than normal because of the BMI rating. It's like a 23% increase over standard McDonalds eating people!

There is something that seriously doesn't make sense. These companies have billions of dollars at stake and they continue to make these judgments based on archaic and arbitrary methods such as BMI instead of using a bf% threshhold to make these decisions.

Do they not realize they are costing themselves millions in claims as a result? WTF
