PM-BJJ/conditioning (2 hours): With my fight looming in the next 48 hours, training was very light and consisted of mostly technique and some last minute tweaks on some submissions and sub escapes. Last half hour was straight conditioning. To start, 6 rounds of 20 back leg kicks, 20 lead leg kicks and 20 knees from the clinch, with a partner holding the kick-pad. Ended running the gauntlet, 1 x12 min round w/a fresh man coming in on me every 2 minutes. Mostly BJJ with limited contact to avoid an injury just before the fight. **So far the only thing I know about my match up is that he's another wrestler... nothing else. I'll probably be able to find out more the day of fight and possibly readjust the game plan then. So far the plan is to stick w/my strong side and take it to the ground for gnp or submission. If we find out he has no stand up, I might be able to light him up on his feet before I take him down. ![]() Diet Total: 2033 Fat: 54 485 25% Sat: 15 136 7% Poly: 8 68 4% Mono: 11 95 5% Carbs: 215 688 36% Fiber: 43 0 0% Protein: 184 736 39% Alcohol: 0 0 0%

Just checking in so close to weigh ins - how are you feeling? Nervous? In the zone? How's your sleep?
Stay focused and weed out all distractions!

Fight prep/conditioning (2 hours): Worked numerous rounds of combo(striking) stations (3) and running laps around the mat inbetween so it was all non-stop. Fine tuned some of my boxing combo's and defense w/partner and the pitch mits. Ended w/2 x 12 minute rounds of sparing to the submission with a fresh man in on me every 2 minutes. **Walked into training after eating and drinking all day at 179lbs. After training (reluctantly) doned the plastic suit to sweat off any extra pounds, just in case. 1.5 hours later weighed in at home at 169.5lb!!! ![]() Diet Total: 1958 Fat: 57 512 28% Sat: 11 100 5% Poly: 22 200 11% Mono: 11 98 5% Carbs: 263 864 47% Fiber: 47 0 0% Protein: 119 478 26% Alcohol: 0 0 0%

Feeling great but did sleep like crap last night since I was so dehydrated. Drank a little gatorade but I'll be relaxing in the sauna a little this afternoon before "official" weigh-ins. My girlfiend was kind enough to make my pasta salad and other goodies for after weigh-in/pre-fight meal. She's a good corner-man! ![]() I'm TOTALLY in the zone! Not really nervous... yet.lol That doesn't usually hit me until I'm facing my actual opponent and soon after I flip that "switch" anyway I'm leaving work early to do nothing but "focus". ![]()

Good work on hitting weight...you have 1.5 lbs to play with! You are allowed 1 lb over, correct? Sounds like you are mentally solid...now just go in for the kill.

7/25/2008-FIGHT RESULTS!
**I took the win at 2:31 in the 1st round by Armbar Submission!! Here's briefly how it unfolded: I came out setting up a few strikes w/the jab. It didn't seem to jar him so I knew his plan was most likely to trade shots. He then made the mistake of trying to counter w/hooks to close on the inside. We locked up in the clinch, I threw some short upper cuts to set up the under hooks. Once I had the underhook locked in, I found my corner, picked him up and slammed him down on that side of the cage at about 40secs in. Landed in side mount and immediately mounted and went to work. I beat the living piss out of the guy with strikes from the mount. I watched his face turn red and purple as I squarely landed each shot.. at that point, I broke out the elbows. Landed two sharp hard elbows right to his nose and I swear it turned friggin black!..lol at that point we were 2min's in and as I reared up for a third elbow, he put his right arm straight up to control my head and out of pure instinct, I wrapped it up and sat right out for the armbar. He was a tough son of a bitch and was refusing to tap. I could feel the cartlidge in his elbow crackling cuz I had it DEEP!! I heard my corner yell "Don't you let up, buck those hips!" so I cranked it up and it was so hard he had to verbally tap in pain. Ref stopped it and raised me for the win! ![]() I had the crowd going nuts.. so many people told me I had probably the best fight of the whole night (out of 10 fights). Even the announcer coming in to the cage to talk to me after the win was like "wow, what versatility and explosiveness!!" I rep'd my team/gym/and family very well which was my main goal. The promoter asked if I would take a fight for their next show on Aug 8th..lol I said, "you bet" ![]() I'll post pic's if I get some back soon from the photo guy.

I got goosebumps just reading your play-by-play! Solid and well done. You must feel proud...especially getting re-booked immediately by the promoter...usually a very good sign
Can't wait for pic and can't wait for August 8th. Good job bro!

Thanks everyone!! Much appreciated.. It felt awesome!
lol.. haha, nope!! Alot of guys in this particular organization/promotions ( fairly big, been around almost 4 years) are still trying to work the boxer/brawler/street fighter angle or their taekwondo/karate guys trying to make the move to MMA. Not awhole lot of Jits so people are amazed when someone whips out a "good" arm bar or knee bar..etc. Its like taking candy from a baby cuz half of them don't even see it coming. I'm blessed to belong to a team with great jiu jitsu instructors and fighters.OH, and the big detail I forgot.. a current major UFC fighter happened to be their that night making his PR/promotion tour/rounds. He happened to catch my fight and actually congrat'd me, gave me major props, shot the shit w/me and my girlfriend for awhile and actually extended me an open invitation to workout at his camp if I'm ever in the area! I was beaming!!
