The Vera fight was called too early, and Matt Hughes doesn't have his mind in the game. I think he is ready to give it up. But he better get his shit together if he wants to beat Serra.

Brandon Vera vs. Fabricio Werdum -Werdum has verda down punching away but Verda was still protecting himself- Miragliotta called the fight.. He shouldn't have. Verda was blocking the shots....with only 15 or so seconds left in round one.... Verda protested but the call was made...
video- Brandon Vera vs. Fabricio Werdum

Nate Marquardt vs. Thales Leites -It was a good fight. I'd say Marquardt dominated the last two rounds... but he received two one point deductions ( one for an illegal kne and one for an elbow to the back of the head).. Leites was awarded the fight due to the point deductions... Marquardt asked for a rematch

Marcus Davis vs. Mike Swick - This was a rather boring fight.... swick had the height advantage.. He won by decision
video- Marcus Davis vs. Mike Swick

Michael Bisping vs. Jason Day- It was Bisping all the way
video- Michael Bisping vs. Jason Day

Matt Hughes vs. Thiago Alves - It was a catchweight fight.Alves was a jumping bean.. he was so wound up.. He reminded of GSP vs Serra ufc 83.. He just wanted to get to the fight. Round one Hugues tried some take downs unsuccesfully. Alves was quicker than Hugues and landed some knees.. Round two.. Alves landed a flying knee and finished Hugues off with some punches.. Hughues landed kind of funnay on his knee. Referee stopped the fight. Alves won.. He was much faster.. He asked Dana White for a title shot. Alves also said the reason he could not make weight was because he had a sprained ankle and could not run(cardio) the last few days. I thought it was cool of Hugues to accept the fight eventhough Alves did not make weight.

Miragliotta fukks up a fight every PPV. They need to fire his ass. That Vera/Werdum fight was stopped WAY too early. He was blocking the punches and was never once hit with 1 punch that made him go limp. I know you have to protect the fighters, but that was ridiculously too early imo.

WhiteKnite....THANKS!!! I love you!!! I saved $45 and got to see the fights the next day

My take on Hughes.....

He either needs to retire, or drop down a weight class. He doesn't have the heart and pissed-off fire under him like he used too. He is just too damn layed back now. He also appears to be shrinking every fight I see him in. The guy used to be MUCH more stack in previous years.

My reasoning for dropping weight....he is fighting guys who could fight in a weight class or two above him who are dropping weight for the fights. They drop the weight, then by the time they fight, they are much larger (and taller) than him, and can usually overpower him. In the past, with his style, he was able to over power people. But as you can see with GSP and Alves, they were much larger and easily overpower him. They are much taller too with a much better stand-up. Hughes is being man-handled easily by these guys.

If he drops down a weight class, he will have guys he can once again over-power, as long as he doesn't get caught up with their speed in the stand-up. I think he can reverse it at a weight class below. I think he matches up better with BJ Penn than he does with these larger frame guys who are just man-handling him. btw....not saying he will beat BJ, but I think he matches up better with BJ than these other guys. He already demolished Sherk.

Bottom line though, he needs to do something, he is not a dominate force in that weight class anymore. He is gonna lose a lot of confidence over these losses imo. He is a boring fighter anyway who relies on the GnP, and if he doesn't have the power to physically perform this feit, then he is out of his boundaries. He will probably retire though first.

He isn't THAT old. I find that as an excuse for somebody who has lost heart. Yes, he has nothing to prove at this point, but that age thing is garbage imo. Randy proved that wrong big time, as has liddell and a long list of fighters.

Anyway, that's what i think he should do.

AND,

For Bisping, they should have him and Rick Franklin fight each other. I think that would be a great match to watch, as well as a stepping stone for Bisping, and a another true test for Franklin to see if he needs to switch up classes as well.

Was a surpirsingly good card all around considering the weak lineup on paper. This is how i saw the fights.

Hughes vs Alves
Hughes i think is the same fighter he was i dont feel that he has lost a lot i just think that the other fighters have improved around him and he has not improved at the same rate . Alves is exploisive and aggressive enough to give GSP a genuine test.

Bisping vs Day
I really like Bisping and he repayed my faith in him by dominatig Day in every aspect. UFC needs to give him a big fight next as he looks like a completely different fighter in the new weight division. With the lack of any other real threats i see him being the best fight for Anderson Silva.

Vera vs Werdum
If i was Bradon i would be PISSED !! he was not hurt at all , was moving his head and blocking . But the part that makes it even worse for me is there was only about 15 seconds left in the round . They are pro's give them the benefit of the doubt for fucks sake ref . Even if he was hurt give him the 15 seconds .

Swick vs Davis
Swick looked aggressive and sharp and made Davis look very second rate . Nuff said

Marquadt vs Leites.
This was a fight i was looking forward to and it did'nt dissapoint , exciting fight and even though it was off of 2 fouls i am glad Leites won because that illegal knee changed the whole fight IMO.

UFC piss that Eddie Sanchez R-Tard off for good .
Also was pissed off that Rivera lost to Kampman.

Great card though all things considered ..... except vera
