So I figured, since we started kind of listing our experiance in Bruces bulking thread. That it would be pretty cool to see peoples past training experiances and interests in what Martial arts or Combative arts they have studied or are currently taking.
I've done boxing for about 2 years with an amatuer record of 5-2-0; I've trained in Ninjitsu for about a year and a half, and stopped after our instructor left. I did Karate (Brown Belt) when I was kid and Aikido, through out my earlier youth. I do study Iaido right now and am progressing well with in it. I'm getting ready to hit off my Mui Thai and BJJ training later this year at ECS in AZ and hopefully later compete in MMA after a year or so of training. I have a slgiht wrestling backround within Free style/grecko wrestling. Thats about it. What about you? Matt~ |

Will brush over it quickly ...can go into more detail if people want .
Am 32 Started ju jitsu at 17 , stayed with it for 7 years and ended up teaching at the club i trained at . Had a falling out with the owner and left . Then i went to train kickboxing/muay thai with a dual world champ and trained and fought for 3 years there . Then started boxing with a ex national champ friend of mine who i was working nightclubs with right up until my injury. I am only recently back into serious training and will see in the next few months whether i will fight again or just train for fun. The knee's and my right hand are'nt what they used to be .... look after your joints people!! Luca |

Well i started with kung fu at the age of 6. did tai chi chuan. then i wrestled from 7th grade to 11th. I started focusing on football so i dropped wrestling. In my senior year of college i messed around with bjj but it wasnt till about 25 when i got serious about it and did alot of tournements.(IM 28 turning 29 on monday) Finished second place in NAGA tourny my first time. Now I do mma so thai/grappling split during the week. I also go up to montreal and hang out with dave louiseu. they are really hardcore up there and GSP is a little dude but stronger then he looks.

Oh lets see.. I'm a wrestler (collegiate) by trade... I've been an athlete my whole life and played alot of sports but Wrestling really moved me. I also have several years of Taekwondo under my belt, although most of that doesn't transfer well into MMA, it did help with my kicks. I put everything on hold for several years to serve in the US Military. I've always loved training, lifting, conditioning, and eating right. That part is a passion for me as well.. Now that I'm out and free to pursue things, I decided last year to wrap my experience up and roll it over into MMA. Ever since I've been training with a fight team under a UFC vet who is an amazing guy. I train BJJ/wrestling twice weekly, Mui Thai/boxing/striking twice weekly and sometimes an additional day of technique. I run conditioning and strength training all throughout the week. I'm usually doing something 7 day a week. I'm working toward my first amateur fight this year. My ground game is solid, my striking needs some work so I'm really pushing it there.

You want to improve your striking man. The routine I do for boxing i posted is basic strikign and basic combos man. Also I would recommend looking up the stances for boxing because being able to get your weight behind your punches is a big thing. I'll post up this book when I get a chance that I took the time to read before going to a boxing class that would be benefial to you improving your striking game.

I actually have ALOT of power, most guys are a little scared to spar with me because I'm a power hitter. I need work on speed, technique, and working the angles and getting in... I'm your typical short, very stocky/solid wrestler with short legs and arms. Ugh!! |

Started Kickboxing at 13, loved the stand up game, AT 16 started Mua Thai, submision grappling/ jiu jitsu at 20 and have been competeing on and off since a teenager..im now 30. Did very well did alot of smokers few underground (smokers are fights held within the gym) didnt have the money to compete on the "circuit". Also didnt understand why i had to pay someone to get beat up .6-8 years ago it costed more than i had to get all the scans and bloodwork done for a fight, plus promoters wernt paying for the dr bill afterwards which is now not the case.Ive trained fought and trained with world class fighters, trained Muay Thai for some time with Coban Lookchaomaesaithong and some of his prized thai students grappling/bjj with, Ricardo Almeida (nj), Renzo Gracie(ny), really only learned enough bjj to defend against it and be able to get back onto my feet. Now Im a stength and conditioning coach I teach stand-up fighting and conditioning for fighters as well as a number of other sports both pro and amateur.

I have none
![]() Unfortunately I never entered anything so i'll be upfront on that. I just like watching it like most. And no, I do not wear the gear ![]() Sometime before I croak over i'd like to get into it just for 'fun.' I still have some more gym and school goals I need to put first, as well as other personal shiat....after all that, i'd like to devote some time just for that though. That would be cool. I have some street fighting experience ....lol.BMJ ![]()
