That's an awesome way to turn the replacement into an emergency procedure...while they're handling his other knee, hips and shoulders

Nope, people (trainers, PT's) actually have their patients do that. I wouldn't, but hey... they aren't me.

one thing we did was to take a safety squat bar and turn it around backwards and do front box squats at a box height that doesnt cause too much pain with a close stance.

we also did them with the safety bar the correct way, and did reps to failure.

and on a 45 degree leg press we added a band and did 1 leg presses.

maybe call louie and ask him what he did when he hurt his knees. couldnt hurt.....i bet hes got some good ideas

Okay...my little rant.

I am getting so pissed off lately with these idiot personal trainers like the one in the picture, having everybody do things off the exercise ball, athlete or not.

Why in the hell would you take a person with no gym experience, set them on an exercise ball and have them do weight on it. Mr. Jones doesn't need balance right now, he just needs proper technique and motor learning as a base. The guys who do all that shit on the exercise balls and balance beams or whatever type of shit they are doing now, just irks me. I think sport specific training has it's place, but not for Joe Schmo who wants to get in shape.

I am getting more and more pissed off seeing this. Try a kettle bell or something functional. Use the heavy basic exercises. You want to become athletic? Do some power cleans for Pete's Sake!

That is all!

I was also going to suggest alternating 1-leg leg press. Over the last couple years I've aggravated both my knees - the wear & tear of years of lifting along w/ patellas that don't track perfectly. Bursitis & tendonitis have been issues as well. I use knee sleeves. I have a lot of trouble w/ unsupported lifts. After a lot of work & these knee sleeves I can do ATF Squats up to 155 lb but above that its completely touch & go. I do a lot better w/ stuff like leg press & power squat. Alternating leg press & alternating leg extensions / leg curls .

Sounds like leg press & all sorts of variations of it may get you something.
