Default trying to add size is harder than just eating right...

after cutting down for the last 8 mos. I've began to increase my cals mainly in the carb area. I've added about 500 cals ed for the last 30-45 days. my abs are beginning to get covered over and i can tell my waist is gaining some size. i know they say not to look in the mirror and stuff, but damn, it was hard getting as lean as i was(15%bf+/-) to now move away from that.

my diet is clean aside from the weekend here and there doing the college football tablefare and beer.

my macro's breakdown to 40/40/20 at about 3300 cals ed. i know it's what needs to be done to get some size, but I get all geeked out about putting on unwanted fat. i'm not trying to sound like jkurz or anything, but tell me I'm not the only one that deals with this mental aspect of the bb lifestyle.

thanks for listening. i just needed to tell some others that care about what they eat and look like. There's not many of us out there.

Yeah bro I feel ya. Thankfully I'm done with bulking now, so I just try to stay lean year round. I know how it was when I was bulking and it sucked. It's really hard even after a show or shoot when you start putting fat back on.

It's a very tough thing to do. But I think that if you have confidence in your ability and willpower to be able to diet down when you decide to cut again you will be less hesitant to do it and just knuckle down and ignore the mirror.

You need to alter your thinking, I think this board is a great place for that. By following other people's journals such as BiggT, BDR Getjacked and everyone who bulks frequently (or permanently) you can absorb their attitudes on the whole experience. When you see those guys take it in their stride and just get on with it to achieve their goals it can motivate you to adopt their point of view.

Good luck with the bulk, just keep in mind what your goals are and try not to get side tracked by pulling your body in opposite directiong

I want to add that you should keep an eye on the mirror. You don't want to add unecessary amounts of fat. I don't agree with "shit" bulking. Just eating whatever you want to add "weight".

Agreed. There are alot of fat guys out there with quite a bit of muscle underneath but much fewer that are muscular and lean. Harder to do and more impressive in my opinion.
Nothing against the power lifters that knock out 800lb squats - that's pretty frickin' impressive as well. Just not my desire.

I'm definitley not doing the "shit" bulk. I've just increased the amount of the same foods I was eating on my cut.

How do you set a goal for a bulk?? May be a dumb question, but I never really thought it. I guess. just set a weight for what i'd like to end the bulk at, or set a timeline for that bulk??

howdo you guys go about your bulk and what determines the end of it?? The more i think, I guess it would be a certain date.So I'll bulk until a few months before srping and summer, then start cutting again so I can live with myself w/o my shirt on in public.

thanks for the help and words.

I know you don't want to shit bulk, the fact you are doing it on only 3,000kcal tells me that. In your case you have even less to worry about in terms of fat gain, so I wouldn't sweat the couple of pounds you'll put on.

I'd do it on time or bodyweight, not mirror because if you are worried about fat gain you'll freak out and want to cut in a month or so. The advice I gave about changing your mentality towards bulking remains the same regardless of whether it's a dirty bulk or a clean one.

And then when they want to get lean, they've already added so much fat that they lose a lot of the mass they gained cuz they have to diet so hard.

Not sure it that is why they were "invented", but sure as heck how and why they are used

Nail the diet on tren and watch the fat fall and most of the muscle stay

Not necessarily bro. Although tren and GH help immensely with retaining mass, one can still lose lots of muscle by severe dieting even while on the aforementioned products.

i figured i'd add about 500 cals a day for a month or so at a time. just to keep it as lean as possible. i've been really impressed with what just adding that many a day, mostly from add'l carbs sources has done for me. i've added about 8 lbs. in 1.5-2 mos. i know most of it's water. i'm going to keep it at about 3300 cals ed for another 30 days and go from there.

i'm thinking of bulking up until about feb. then i'll have time to cut for a few good months right before spring.

I think a lot of people eat carbs excessively, which contributes a lot to their fat gain during a bulking cycke.

Keeping your macros at either 33/33/33 or 30/30/40 normally yields far better results than eating high carbs in terms of LBM/FM gained.

The larger i get the easier it is for me to diet. A 350lb'r at 20% bodyfat burns a helluva lot more calories doing nothing than a 250lb'r at 10%.
In otherwords, i doubt the people yr referring to have to crash diet as hard as youd think.
