Default Pre contest - Keto diet?

Hi every one,

Right now i am at 11-12 % bf

and on a moderate carb diet

and i want to know if keto diet would be a good idea for a show 10 weeks out?

I have never tried keto diet and have always relyed on low carb diet for contests.

This time i won the district show few months back and am going to the state show on december 14-15.

So all inputs would be highly helpful. (thanks to everyone in advance)

as of now i am on a am/pm workout style. Working in 3 days on and 1 day off .

My stats
bodyweight 190 lbs
bf - 11-12%

thanks in advance everyone

There are many ways to skin a cat.

Do keto's work. Of coarse..

Can you get just as lean with a diet consisting of carbs. Yes...

Keto's IMO can get you there faster though.

Are you very sensitive to carbs? If so a keto may be a good choice for you.

ya jg1

i taper it less than 100 for about final 4 weeks to get lean

and even 200 grams of carbs would be high for me.. would make me look a little smooth

so i read a lot of concepts about keto like carb loading, in week ends and etc.. But some say 12-18 hours of carb loading and some say one meal of high carb per week and so on.. am a little confused.. and need as much input as possible.. Cos this is the first time i am gonna be on a state show and the first two places of each category get selections for the nationals.. So i want to give it my best shot.. And right now i am working out as if my life depends on it..

thanks a ton jg1

I had a very good results using the one meal a week approach. Not so much to refill glycogen but to keep the thyroid humming along. I also think the types of fats you choose for a keto is very important. Keeping the fats for towards those high in EFA's will help fill the muscle out and keep you from going completely flat.

and for cultural reasons i cannot eat meat at home.

So i completely depend on whey and eggs for protein

So can i include egg yolks along in each egg meal?

Can i add olive oil in the whey protein meals?

what other sources of fats are more reliable?

thanks once again...

eggs are fine.

fats= almonds, walnuts, fish oils, & macdamia nut or olive oil.

I wouldn't risk trying a keto right now. They work great, but since you're going to a state show I would stick with what you know works for you. After the show then try a ckd.
