Default Muscle Milk is making my breath foul

Muscle Milk is making my breath foul, is there anything I can do? I have been replacing the 8 diet cokes and 4 candy bars a day with protein powder, but my breath stinks - I can actually taste it

when's the last time you went to the dentist?? not trying to be funny.

could be a few different things. periodontal disease for one will make your breath rank as hell, teeth fall out and in extreme cases, kill you.

Maybe keep a bottle of listerine by your desk? I have never heard of this problem from muscle milk before, at least to a greater extent than any other protein powder/rtd

Are you drinking enough water? A high protein diet should be accompanied by a high water intake. Your bad breath could be from urea being converted to ammonia. This explanation is especially likely if you're finding that your sweat has become more acrid.

I went to the dentist about 4 weeks ago. I go three times a year instead of two even though I have to pay out of my pocket for the third visit as insurance only covers two visits. I really enjoy how the hygenist scrapes the scale off my teeth and makes me bleed as I feel I am getting my money's worth.

Which brand do you recommend instead. I want something that tastes good as if not, I will be less likely to drink it.

It is not my teeth specifically, it is all over my mouth and coming out from my esophagus.

I know you drink Muscle Milk from your log.

Got gum and mouthwash. I am just not a gum chewer through. I chew it and swallow it after about 4 minutes. I haven't actually tried the mouthwash as those who do use it my place of employ often are trying to cover up alcohol.

Maybe I am drinking enough water, maybe not - not sure. This morning I drank 22 ounces upon waking. I then had a shake at breakfast mixed with Muscle Milk, egg white, a little milk, water and black berries. I also consumed six x 16.9 ounce waters during the day. No soda - just water. I don't think I'm going into ketosis or anything like that because I do have carbohydrates at breakfast mixed into the shake, at lunch and dinner.

I the past I have used NOW Foods protein and Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey. Neither seems to taste as good with water as Muscle Milk. Ideally, something that tastes good with water is preferred. The reason I chose Muscle Milk this time is someone at work had the Vanilla and it tasted pretty good. We do get free milk at work so I can mix the milk with stuff, but I just wanted to try water.

RTDs just leave that taste in my mouth, regardless if it's Myoplex, LaBrada of MM.

(A L dont EVEN GO THERE)

Blech.

I have to pound water or something flavored to clear it even AFTER brushing my teeth.

(A L dont EVEN GO THERE)

I think it's just RTDs that do this, if you keep them just have to deal with it.

Notes: I usually brush and floss at least 3 x a day (yes it's alot, but I have to), no halitosis for keto, and I drink at least 2 gallons of a water a day.

Even with some flavored waters, or soda, the syrup make me wanna cringe, again sitting like you said , around the esophagus.

I heard from a MM distibuter, Muscle milk was bought out by coca-cola. They reduced the sugar content [is what joe told me].
Why do you say MM is the McDonalds of protein drinks? Do they give a portion of their profits to the NAACP and GAY & Lesbian organizations also?

Just to pick up on what BlutWump has already mentioned ...

I'm not sure of the amino acid profile of Muscle Milk but high intakes of the amino acid leucine will increase ammonia levels and can produce a bad odor which can also permeate the skin. Ideally, you will want your leucine levels at 16mg/kg body weight with a cutoff limit of around 1100mg. Any higher than this and it may lead to further problems such as pellagra. Leucine is more concentrated in foods than the other amino acids.

Eating parsley can help reduce bad breath. (worth a try)

As for your actual source of protein powder, try going to a bulk food store and not a supplement store. See if they sell whey protein isolate 92%. It will be in a raw form without any colourings, flavourings and/or sweeteners. Expect the price to be quite high with recent increases but you will be getting it in its raw form. You will be able to add your own flavourings or sweeteners, if you desire, later.

Here after long time.

So a big hi to all the ppl here.

And even i had the same problem with high carb drinks like muscle juice and muscle milk. I would say that the extra sugars make the worst reactions in the mouth.

The best thing is to quit high carb drinks like that and switch to protein drinks and add your own carb to it
