Default Pro tan and Mac Questions...

Is one bottle of protan enough?
How many coats?
Do you use a different color instead?
Do you coat up to your neck and use mac foundation on the neck and face, or do you coat up to your face and mac just on face?
Which mac foundation matches?
Pros and cons, tips and hints, blah, blah, blah. Please tell this newbie redhead what to do to be ready when I get on stage in 5 weeks or so....

you need two bottles of competition color protan.

Color your neck with that and your face with the makeup. Once you have your protan on, go to the mac counter and have them match it.
Difffernt peeps are going to be different colors. if you want the best match do it that way for your first show and then you will know for next time.

or you can guess.

my first piece of advice for people on their first show, is once you think you are dark enough with the protan, put 2 more coats on. the stage lights are a bitch.

Is one bottle of protan enough?
- 2 bottles -you'd rather have more than less.
How many coats?
- Gonna say 5-6
Do you use a different color instead?
- Don't know what this means.
Do you coat up to your neck and use mac foundation on the neck and face,
or do you coat up to your face and mac just on face?
-- Run the protan up to your chin line, MAC above that Don't put any protan on your face - use all MAC. Then check under harsh light at the chin line that you aren't two-tone.
Which mac foundation matches?
- Someone correct me - NC-45 or NW-45
Pros and cons, tips and hints, blah, blah, blah. Please tell this newbie redhead what to do to be ready when I get on stage in 5 weeks or so...
- stay focused, keep it simple, don't doubt yourself - just do it, work on your posing all the time, hold poses for several seconds at a time, work on relaxing, don't forget to smile

I think I did anywhere for 5-8 coats pending how tan I was. PRE pro tan

^^^ agreed

I used NC 45
I also went to mac and have them do my makeup, then I replicated what she did, and yes your face will look darker than you body so people may look at you weird.

Oh and apply with these

Those are Jan Tana's. You can just go buy the buffer pads for cars. I'm trying out a bottle of her color since I will be using that at my Show in Ohio.

Some people do not like the coloring, I haven't used it yet.

Also, buy one of these buties for application. it ROCKS compared to that brush that comes with the pro tan.

By different color, I mean should I use proten, dream tan, jan tana? I am assuming protan because I hear about it the most?

And where can I get those Jan Tana puff applicator things, like the cheapest place?

Thank you guys!!

Some people use a roller lol.
I summoned sbt, she is about a pro and has been protan girl for prolly 10 shows that I know of.

She has a spray thingy now. Im excited.

Since you tan that will be your base, and you go coat by coat to assess your color.

Do you remember me posting pics? Better for me that I have other eyes to help judge, then I put touch up coat on early the next morning and I used PAM one show and some jan tan clear stuff the other.

You can play with the color on you, you should have enough time to see what it will look like on your skin.

I was eyeing people at the show last weekend trying to assess color and figure out what I need to be. I am tan right now, but my tan is not what most people's tan's are, lol. I can get really dark, but so far the sun isn't coming out when I want to go to the beach (like today) and the tanning beds at my gym are just way too light to do much. When the kids start school next week I will be living at the back in a teeny tiny swimsuit.

No less than 45 min and I use a blow dryer as well. I usually wait an hour though min.

If your skin is not very supple or conditioned it may crack, the tan.

Another reason to my madness about Lotion for 8-12 weeks pre comp

I would say to get two bottles to play it on the safe side, thats what I do anyways but usually only use one.
I think for me its been about 4-5 coats, but I am pretty dark or have olive skin anyways.
Used Jan Tana competition color the morning of my shows though, over the protan.
With the make-up I have done it both ways, mixed a teeeeeeny bit of protan in the foundation but also used mac 45 once too (and have read a judges post saying they PREFER the mac 45)

Hmm...that is good to know.....my skin is way better than it used to be but I shall start attacking the lotion now!
