No, not yet... it's on my ever changing list of priorities but in the fore front of my frontal lobe for sure.
Thanks for asking, really... it gets me closer to making it happen.
Bodyweight on Saturday morning 280
Lowest I have been for probably a few years now, and exactly 40lbs down with very little strength loss! love it.
This week I start something new with cardio, and just happened to get my new newbalance kicks in the mail today(checked them out at local sports store then ordered online because I needed wide 2e's)
http://www.newbalance.com/products/MR8507/
So this week I just start up some windsprints, complexes and more interval training.
I really didn't change the diet much for the first 40lbs, but now I am tightening down to go even further. Started fixing it up today.
Random thoughts: finished first bottle of neurogenix and I think its doing its thing now, I have been sleeping really good the past 3 or 4 nights, and lots of dreaming going on. Last night was a weird one, I was sent out to assasinate someone, but instead was shot 6 times in the chest. Took myself to a hospital and gave me something to knock me out, and can remember feeling loopy in the dream, and watching the doctors taking the bullets out of my chest.

Great work on the weightloss.
Are you still going to come down to under 105? If you could do that with a 350k deadlift, you would be a god!
Am I right in saying that there are other weight divisions in the US?

Thanks rawp, than plan is to got u105. I think it's doable. and If I can keep the strength and/or gain some, yes I will be a god! JK
Yes there are other weight divisions. @ nationals you can be(in lbs) 175, 200,231,265,300, shw but only pro card for u105 and heavies. Not all amateur shows have all the classes, but usually a few, on March 29 I'm going to do a show with a "middleweight class" which will be 201-265 it's kind of nice for the normal u105's they don't have to cut weight so you get some nice competition.

Nice work today! Starting to get serious, Imagine what 8weeks of this will do! I think I will look sick then.
I'm thinking I will do a 3 week rotation here:
week 1: 115lbs 6reps 4 times
week 2: 115lbs 8reps 4 times
week 3: 115lbs 10reps 4 times
week 4: 135lbs 6reps 4 times
week 5: 135lbs 8reps 4 times
week 6: 135lbs 10reps 4 times
week 7: 155lbs 6reps 4x
week 8: 155lbs 8reps 4x
week 9: 155lbs 10reps 4x
see where I am after that, and then figure something else out. also, thinking something like this
Mon: am windsprints pm complexes, light cardio
tues: am light cardio
weds: am windsprints pm half complex/rowing machine ,light cardio
thurs: am light cardio
fri: am windsprints pm complexes, light cardio
Feel free to criticize, as I haven't planned out something like this before, usually just go by feel as it goes, but would like to have some type of map.

I think the idea of a pro card system is very interesting. Over here there is no such deal. In fact, until recently there was only really two categories - open and novice. I suppose it has the advantage of meaning that you can easily find yourself up against the best.
On the other hand, being able to call yourself a pro strongman would be pretty cool.
Seems like the journey to strong and lean is going damn well my brutha. Keep it up.
You know I'm IN.
DAMN! Congrats on dropping 40lbs!
Thanks II! it was very unnecesarry weight, it went on real fast, so I kind of new it would come off fast, I'm at the weight I was about 7months ago now.

yes, thanks for pushing the neuro on me, I like the awake feeling as well.
Back when I played Ice hockey I had to get my skates custom fit, and so the guy doing it told me to take my shoes off and stand up with all my weight on my feet and he could trace them. when he sees me feet he says " Have you ever considered swimming as a sport??" :o
GO KOOK GO
You ROCK!!!!
aww thanks CK :jumpjoy:

In the US, I guess it kind of has to be this way as there are so many people competing now. I have found a loophole in the pro card thing though, I fill out my papers soon for dual citizenship for Finland, and I should be going for 2 or 3 weeks this summer and get that sorted out at the same time. Then I can compete for the Old country!

Well thank you, yes that is me. the avatar is Ano, I should be heading over to finland this summer, and should make it over to his Metal Gym so I can pull with one of the greats.

The shoulder goes Ok, some days it feels great, others I might tweak it a bit, and it will hurt for awhile, So rehab and take it slow.
yes yes I can't wait for 350 either, and tomorrow will start to get ready for that, looking for say june or july.

Good numbers my friend now to improve more. I like the complexes as BDR had them They did him some good so hand in there
Over the years I have found what keeps us back from the next level is diet and attitude. That is why I monitor my diet and now will tweak it. Also the mind set if you just show up and expect to lift big numbers, but do not have your head into it. You may as well go home and watch Ellen. Big part of my meditating is getting my head into it. I know I will lift my goals that day. I have already done it in my head.
So get after it and watch that weight.

Thank you sir, This year, will be much more planned out. I really want to be and look very very strong, and so it will be. Looks as though I will go down to about 250 or so.
What are pulldown abs?
Done on the pulldown machine, I use a rope attachment, face away from the weight stack, hold onto the ropes by your shoulders, then just bend at the hips go down, like doing the reverse of a good morning. I like to come up real fast and try to stop the weight before the weight stack hits each other. Also can be done with bands, and I've tried it but could never get it to work as well for some reason.
Edit~
BW on Saturday 279.
Today did nothing at all, napped for a few hours, and only got minimal work done that I was planning.
But I did eat a pizza, took a sauna, and had a few alkaholic beverages. nice rest day.

Tried to used Db's for the complexes, but I was slightly retarded trying to use them for fronts and cleans, so If I want to use db's I need some better plan for the exercises. So I found a bar that actually has some nice sleeves, and no probs with my shoulders.
Also got some Equiblock dt today, Threw some on my shoulders and knees this morning thinking it was like a biofreeze where you will feel it instantly, Didn't feel anything, except about 8 hours later when I started the complexes, I was funking on fire!! It was painful, I only recommend this stuff for large farm animals(just like it says on the bottle)
Anyways, will get a little more cardio in tonight, as I have to clean up all the snow.

Yer 5'10"... then the LW class is perfect for you. What's your weight at?
Is the Equiblock dt like the linements they sell on elitefts.com? Do you think it has any use at all? So putting it on before training underneath some knee sleeves would be a bad idea?
BTW good job on the cardio!

Ill find out the weight in the morning, and we will find out about LW, my legs are like 5 gallon buckets, so things are a bit skewed... actually just a big frame to begin.
yeh bro, I bought the belt and the equiblock at efs. I will still use it on my shoulders, but maybe a lighter coat, I did go pretty heavy(i'll play around with it see how much is good), it does say on the bottle something along the lines of "Do not use on Humans" but I may not be human after all.
it also says not to wrap up wherever you put it.
Thanks meat! gotta catch up to you

Today felt good, after the first set of 585, I was starting to get fried, so big weights after that weren't so good. oh well right.
Was going to mention, my pressing on tuesday, I thought I was pressing 210 for 3 sets of 3, well I talked to the guys at the gym and what I thought the log weight was, was wrong.(70lbs was written on some paper on the wall so thought that was the weight)
SO, I was actually pressing 235 for 3 sets of 3, which made me happy because, first it felt heavy, and second thats pretty good news for my shoulder.
Incredible rack pull, incredible every lift.
I know I don't need to tell you this (cuz who the hell am I?), but just don't give in to the the weight loss.

I know what you mean, and understand why you say that, like today my training partners are killing it, while I slowly slip away...
It's OK though, it might make me angry or frustrated but I really just want to do this, so will probably taking through july or so, no stopping, and while just have to try to hold on to my strength.

Thanks II, Dont feel so strong!:hsugh:
As for meets, March 29th, there is one in Maine, pretty light show, I wanted to test my lighter weight status there, because there is a 201-265 class, not close to there and don't really care to cut water for something like that, so will most likely compete as heavy, and it will be a training partner competition.
Of course my Mom and my sister both go in for surgery 3 days before, My mom gets her 2nd full knee replacement, and my sis, some sinus clearing, I have to go and bring my sis to the hospital and stay there overnight, and my mom said she will be so drugged up she won't know whats going on for the first few days,(Her first knee I went everyday, and she barely remembers I was there! those are some good drugs) so they said to go do it.
Other than that, the plan is to do Northeast Beast in jersey, then where I train, he will put one on in july.
After that, a heavyweight pro-am in september in south carolina, and then nationals in november.
Think long term bro... only matters where you are strength/bodyweight-wise in November.
March sounds like a big month, I wish your family safe procedures and little stress bro.
Plus remember that when the time comes to bump the cals or cut the cardio a tad.. the strength will rebound fast and pound for pound you are stronger than ever.
I hope everything works out with the surgerys :grouphug:

Thanks Kab! well, september (platinums plus show) is giving away a pro card, so would be nice to be strong then too!
Thanks about the well wishes, everything should be ok, I think my sis's surgery is just like what bdr went through, because she gets sinus infections constantly.

Only bad side, is the whole fam had a trip to Finland planned this summer, but because of mom's knee being done so soon, we have called it off, the last time I was there was almost 13 years ago, when I lived there for a stint.

 yes, I train in 2 pits, and see some crazy stuff, and now only go there for cardio, it's too fruity to lift weights at, purple and pink walls and you get the idea. and even though that personal trainer didn't really know how to do a snatch, someone has to teach these youngsters about snatch.

Anything you can do to simulate an axle? I don't have one at my gym and I may do a strongman meet that includes an axle press.

Hopefully I can start pushing It soon, axle feels better for the shoulders than a regular bar, even on bench.

I setup the bands just like you would to squat, choke on the bottom of the rack and then over the bar once.
hmm... that one in jersey is max clean and press, so really the press is not much different from a regular bar, but the clean is much different. Hard to simulate that, but really, you can make an axle out of a pipe for about 20 bucks, just figure out a way to stop the plates.
And you will have to continental clean, so pull it like a clean, but the first stop will probably be on top of your belly, regrip then explode again to get under the bar and to the shoulders.
That all might be a bit confusing, so just keep asking questions:coolugh:

I think the tension might be a little more then 70lbs at lockout since you are pushing above your head.
I know what you are talking about the continental clean. I don't think there is anyway I could do it though lol My shoulder presses are not that good and I don't think I could do the 220 min weight at that show. I have a few more months so I'll decide soon and maybe train events with IG and Polski.
Nice job mixing it up with the kettleballs and stuff for a pain free workout... smart lifting is better lifting.

My strict pressing is terrible, but half way to decent when push pressing, so just drive with the legs, and catch it up top, but you can train that on a reg bar, just always go double overhand and continental it all the time to learn that movement.

 I guess its both!
So I started in december doing just steady state cardio, lost about 35 lbs or so, then got bored, so decided to do this as I guess HIIT, really I just want fat loss, but conditioning is an Ok side effect as it should carryover to strongman, or I hope at least.
sorry if this is a dumb question, do you rest between sets or is that one after another?

CK, I do it in front of the clock, start on the minutes, do the exercise, may take 20seconds, then wait for the next minute, and repeat. Then once I'm done the set, I'll take a minute and a half rest, then next set.

Well that ends week 3 of Complexes, I would like to hear peoples opinions about if I can overtrain from this, and instead of going right back in to another 3 weeks, maybe go back to steady state cardio for a week. My lower back is bothersome almost all the time now from these, so opinions welcome!

Bro, if your lower back is bothering you from that, then definitely take a break, at least for a week.
Trust me, if you keep going and actually injure it, the lower back is about the slowest healing part on your body and it sucks big time.
ASGARDIAN
02-29-2008, 05:47 PM
Mr. kook sir...Just my humble uneduacated opion, but i would say that if i were to do these complexes you are talking about, and my lower back hurt(in a bad way) then i would take a break. You seem very knowledgable and understanding of yourself, so i'm sure you can create new ways that will shock your body into accomplishing your goals. Such as your "steady state cardio" you were talking about. Maybe do that for a week and if the pain in your lower back subsides, then you know for sure it's the complexes. What i've learned over the many years of training is that if it hurts stop and try something else. It's better to keep going than being forced to stop all together. Ultimately, do what YOUR body is telling you. Good luck. I'll be following!!....
ASGARDIAN
02-29-2008, 05:55 PM
Not the same injury but doing deadlifts i locked my back so bad that the next few days after i couldn't even put my socks on. I had to get the wife to do it for me until i could see a physiotherapist. She laid me on my side and "cracked" my back. It was very loud and not painful, but i was fudged for a good month or so. You know this i'm sure bro...don't mess with something that feels tweaked. You may be really excited about the complexes but if it's hurting ya then pull back, regroup and come back stronger. Remember, it's better to lose a battle than to lose the war....
Bottom line if your lower back is bothering you more than usual, you need to correct that asap before it becomes a problem! Drop the complexes and see if that's it. It is a likely culprit but you can't be sure until you play with your schedule. If there is no improvement after a week of dropping complexes... you might just owe your body a week off from lifting.
Maybe when u can then periodize the complexes with the cardio, alternating weeks or something. OR maybe u should lower the weight on the bar with the complexes when u reintroduce them or instead of removing them. 115 is not light for that stuff.
Thanks Slade, ASG and Kab, I think I will take a break, for a week to start, see how it does, yesterday it was pretty bad, but deadlifting today wasn't very bad at all. Some very good point, and no need to get injured here, especially doing cardio. Think I may do the rower, as I like that, or just more "steady state cardio"(treadmill, elliptical, at brisk walk or so 30-60min)
Today, BW 280 wtf.
So this week, I worked Like crazy, got done 2 weeks of work in 4 days, and actually I thought I was eating much much less than I had, but weight goes up 2lbs?
Not sure why.
but,
A few people that see me regularly said i'm looking leaner again this week? maybe some body recomp.
I thought with the less food, I would have easily lost weight, but also because of working, I don't remember drinking a lot of water, so maybe some water retention?
Just thinking outloud I guess, but I will keep with it, but if things don't work this week I may need to tweak the diet, I know for certain it's not perfect right now, but its working right?

I'm liking these KB's just like last week, so will continue with them, first time in probably a year doing shrugs, I feel no reason to do them, traps are big enough and get enough strain from deads, farmers things like that, instead may put in, heavy face pulling, or something for rear delts, since I think part of the reason my shoulder popped out is an inbalance between front and rear delts. You can just see it looking at my shoulders.
workouts looking solid, awesome job getting in 60 minutes of cardio!

Great workout man, keep it up. I like the floor presses with thick bar. Floor press is not too much of a benefit for me. Bar is less than an inch off my chest. BDR can testify to that.
I like rack lockouts, can get bar just below the stall point to train it.

Nice job bro, keep killing it. Glad the kettleball is doing the trick for the shoulder issues.

Thanks OL! I see, The floor press was maybe a 2 board height for me, actually this is good for me right now, any more depth and the shoulder is not good.

Hi Claire! so far this week, lower back is very good, although I like the complexes, they are fun and hard, but will maybe have to go in 3week spurts, then 1week off.
Nice job bro, keep killing it. Glad the kettleball is doing the trick for the shoulder issues.

Yeh fude, well its a private gym I guess you could call it, so you'd have to be looking for it to find it.

Treadmill30 min.
I went to the chiro today to get ART done on shoulder, and then some extensive e-stim(he cranked it up all the way so 10 minutes of crazy spasms, I was laughing my ass off how much my shoulder and arm was flopping around)
It feels good, will just have to keep up with rehab and stretching, and make this thing better, and will go to him once a week for awhile.
slightly lazy today, probably won't do any more cardio today :treadmill:
Hey kook how goes the diet this week???
:bowrofl: f'n disgusting! Just today for lunch I had 1.5lbs of Steak Tips and a bag of doritoes, totalling some 2500cals, the steak was good though.
Anyways I've slightly fallen off here this week, hopefully it recharges the metabolism.
Woke up this morning with a sore throat and didn't feel so great, Always happens when I get scare tissue broken up, so downed a bunch of vit c today.
20 minutes of treadmill only today
messing around and pinched 5 10's each hand a few times.
Hey man sometimes your body needs it! Eat up bro and then wreak some havoc.
Hey man sometimes your body needs it! Eat up bro and then wreak some havoc.
true true, I'm already back and motivated to start kicking ass again! No cheat till the contest, march 29, just sent my entry in today. If I weigh in under 265, which doesnt seem likely right now then I'll compete at that weight if not HW is all good, only thing I can't be competitive at is the max log, I'm about 100lbs off right now from my training partners and one other local, all 350 max logs.
Actually I have to revamp the diet I think, this weekend will have to look at calories and macros, will go pretty low on carbs except on training days, To tell everyone the truth, so far, I just kind of slightly cleaned the diet up and all the weight went real fast, but think to get to the next level will take a little more thought.

Off the floor did not feel good at all today, will take a break from the floor, actually in talking to a few guys about how I got to 725, from the floor was not a big part of my training, but have been doing it the past few weeks for rep endurance for comp coming up. Anyways pulling from knee with a dl bar and that much weight puts a nice bend in the bar, so may have been more like a hip and thigh lift, but will figure out a way to lower it for later.

Thanks bro!, I've been in the basement for some time working on a permanant Dl suit, consists of 2 6"diameter steel cables, I figured out how to implant them under my skin, yet am having trouble attaching them to the appropriate bones, so may just be a toss up at this point.

Thanks Kab, had to edit it, I wrote 955, but it was 945, which is bar and all plates. Yes I may be a madman.
Like I said though, it is nice and a lot of weight, but with some major bend in the bar, you're really taking the weight on about 2 inches higher.
Also, I would have to wonder what C.smith and BDR have pulled from there, I'm sure insane weight.

getting ready for jersey! If they use the bar at the beast that I used there last summer, its like 15ft long and hummer tires, right at about 18" You will pull big numbers, it has some nice whip to it, I'm looking forward to it.
I had it for me right in the middle of the knee, which is about 20"

ya im gona go with straight up adamantium piston implants to replace my bones and joints. ill let ya know if i find a chop shop willing to do it.
ill prolly just lose the skin altogether as well ala terminator, it'd just get in the way ya know? those pistons r gona be poundin all over the place, could get messy.

Thanks CK, I do need that reminder once in awhile. I will probably still post up what I'm doing, I'll be staying at my sis's place ou there, and it's only about an hour and a bit away from me.

Foam Rolling back, IT bands, quads, inner thighs, hams.
TKE's with blue bands
Sauna then jumping in cold ass shower, back to sauna.
So as I look at my log and have been slightly frustrated lately with some things, It occurs to me that there may be too much volume, and not enough intensity. I just have to deal with the fact that I want to lose some weight. but also sometimes I know I'm just not as focused on what I need to do.
Today for example, looks like a lot of volume to me. Although this is what I am used to while eating like a pig, I'm losing weight, and so think I will have to cut some sets, but just be more intense with the sets that really count.

Nice workout there bro. Now when do you get back to the strongman thing.
I am trying to come up with complex for my step kids who are on swim team. Figuring the muscles involved, I see squats, stiff leg deadlifts, shoulder press, bent rows, bench press, shoulder press. Never having swam competitively not sure if that would do it.
Anyhow keep up the work and you will be amazed how this will work. I do something similar once a year. It is wild. Doing giant sets for the body parts and drive myself to near puke. Feels great.

Back to competing on the 29th of March, don't feel that strong but it will be fun. May try to get under 265 for middleweight class, but no biggie if I don't.
those sound like good complexes for anyone, I don't swim much as I can't even float. Would sound like swimmers need good pecs/shoulders and work on rotators a lot. Of course they need strong legs as well.
And yes, I am having fun with the complexes, it's just a goal I have I guess to get pretty lean for once. things were getting slightly out of control.

Will be a bit of travel for this one to the middle of maine, some 4or 5 hours. There will be some in MA this summer, I'll let ya know, you can check em out or compete!
Have fun when you get out there to train!
So I got back from boston, doing work out there, my sis lives about 1/2mile from the ocean, so I would walk down there and then walk on the beach, 1hour every day, first day was in the AM, but for some reason I slept so good after the first night there, so when the alarm went off early, I said screw it, sleep is better(have always had some sleep problems, so take it when I can get it) Never went to a gym but thats ok, everything seems to have healed up pretty good, and I feel good.
Not sure If I will do Events tomorrow or not, I'm thinking not, just to make a nice full deload week. and just do some cardio.

You may not have lost weight, but like you said you have lost fat. There's just no way around it.
Are you measuring ur torso or taking bf%? I find those measurements to be really great bro.
A measuring tape costs little to nothing and calipers are affordable.

Thanks claire! good to hear, and when you know what meet you are doing let me know, I want to check it out, maybe if it doesn't conflict with my comps maybe I'll do that meet , haven't done a Pl comp for about a little over a year, and have been planning to get a full power comp in when I get time to focus on it.
That would be great. I still haven't figured out when my next meet is. My trainer wanted me to do one in MA this May but I just found out my daughter will be performing in the Children of the Arts that day. There is one in Albany, NY that a friend is doing. I might do that one. I'll let you know when I decide on one.
You may not have lost weight, but like you said you have lost fat. There's just no way around it.
Are you measuring ur torso or taking bf%? I find those measurements to be really great bro.
A measuring tape costs little to nothing and calipers are affordable.
If you have plateaued, it'll be the perfect time to add in the fat burners. Nice planning.
And really, incredible workouts. You're killing it bro.
Thanks Kab, I havent taken any measurements, silly me. just mirror right now, but maybe I should, actually I had dubs for biceps and now only 19":tear: just kidding! my 3 sets of curls a year shows how much I care about the bis! definetely, add in fat burners, and when the weather heats up, back to good progress
Kab is right, do not always rely on the scale. You could be heavier muscled and that will do wonders. Have some hot female tech do a body comp test on you and see how body fat you have lost the complexes will do that.
just going by mirror I know things are different, so I'm happy!
id probably rather kill myself than do all that cardio. good job dude :Rawk:
Thanks for checkin in jacked, I'm not a big fan of the cardio either, but I'm on a mission! when It gets nicer here I'll get back to hiking and get the mountain bike out, and the sled, so I don't have to do the boring tread/elliptical

Damn man great workout. Not to mention my kind of shopping. Spent afternoon with truck in shop and getting ready to make brisket ready for tomorrow dinner.
Keep at it and expect strength gains.
Go to Maine on Saturday
Max Log starts @ 230, 20lb jumps from there.
I may just start at 230 so attempts will look like 230 250 270, if my shoulder feels ok, may decide to go 250 270 290 we'll see.
Car DL Do not know weights yet.
Hope its heavy! so I only have to pull 10reps or so, never know with this.
Medley 700yoke for 50ft then 4flips with 600tire.
Just going for time here. should be fast.
Farmers Walk 275 each hand 100ft turn at 50. no drops
Speed again here, the no drops sucks, in case you screw up a bit, but it is what it is, Pick and hold on for the ride.
Stones 240 280 310 330 350
Looks like same series at this contest about 8 months ago. and I only missed the last stone, so should kill it this time around.
This week will just be am cardio I think. friday night I didn't even sleep an hour, and woke up with the worst headache ever, throughout the day I just got sicker and sicker, I feel like shit today, had the chills this morning, now I'm burning up! This seems to happen before every contest:confused: normally I would say overtrained, but I haven't been doing anything crazy. Should be better tomorrow, so can heal up this week.
Of course I havent trained events the last 2 weeks, have had other obligations the past 2 sundays, but this should be a fun show.

looks like a fun contest, good luck
Max Log
Started off with lightest weight 230 and no problem, but shoulder hurt like hell, actually it hurt in warmup push pressing 135. Since everyone was waiting for bigger weights I had about 30 seconds rest then went to 250, no good, maybe made 3 attempts, but said forget it, shoulder did not feel good.
Last place
Car DL
Now we get to the real show, Since I was in last place, I get to go first, the lighter weight guys are hitting 15-20 reps, but weight is added for us,(625? in hands) I didn't want to but I pulled 19 reps thinking no one in their right mind will do that. training partner is going last and he matches 19 reps.
tie for First and move to 4th place overall
Medley 700 yoke 600tire
It's nice going against someone, this guy was a monster, and I was just behing him on the yoke, but blasted through the tire and won the heat and 2nd place time
move to 3rd place overall
Farmers Walk
280lbs per hand, nice gritty handles, good for the no drop rule. was quick to 50 ft turned and got jammed up, so had to stop and fix, and then ran to the end
2nd place stay at 3rd
Stones
lighter weights went and the platforms they were using were falling apart I suggested we load a stone over the yoke, after waiting around for 45minutes or so, they decide to load a stone over the yoke for reps.
about 48" but only 30seconds with 315 stone.
3 reps, shoulder started hurting and had trouble lapping the 3rd rep.
tie for 2nd
3rd Overall
I'm doomed to be stuck in 3rd, all the same guys took 1 2 3 as the last contest 3 months ago. really, just will be concentrating on overhead, as you can see like last year, overhead sucks and I catch up from that all day long, so I would be much better off if I could hang with those guys on the the overhead, of course right now I have a set back, but I will have to start pushing through the pain
Fun contest aside from taking 6 hours or so, very sore today in the upper back. I love competing, but back to training this week, at least overhead.

Nice vids Kook, the Car DL seemed to be a bit bouncy, could you feel that at all? and the tire...posed no issue to you at all, its amusing to see you man handle it. Rest a bit and get back at it man...nice work
Those videos and that placing are just awesome. You've got an injury and also a whole new body.... you are so much lighter than the last time you competed against those guys. You have so much to be proud of.
With regards to the shoulder.... since you are a competitive strongman first and foremost, and the shoulder continues to inhibit you... maybe it might be time to see a specialist about exactly what is going on in there? Might be more than a simple chronic dislocation issue. Not that I trust doctors much myself...
Why didn't that guy finish the farmers walk? The videos are cool!

Thanks Kab, Well this guy that I've been seeing about my shouler, is a shoulder specialist, but we are working on it without any type of imaging(mri) so its a slight guess going on where pain is coming from. it is getting better, but with no health ins, can't afford the imaging, but chiro/ART is not that bad.
Thanks a lot Everybody. I'm already back doing cardio today(still have a long way to go) and will press tomorrow, I think I may have to push it a bit, and deal with the pain.:taz:

Thanks ASG, When I'm healed up and also possibly in the LW class then I'll go straight to the top! My chiro is talking to some folks he knows to catch a deal on at least x-rays, He really thinks its a seperation going by where the pain is, instead of what I originally thought I just dislocated it.

Some sage advice here. Getting the blood in there is so important, then stretch it and you will do better. That is what I do that is keeping me going. That and the fantasy that exotic women find me hot.:topic:
Rest up, heal up, then move up in weights.
You will figure something out, like you said. Just listen to your body and don't let your ego play tricks on you. 5 pounds a week sounds like reasonable progression to get back to numbers u know u can do and still heal in the process.

You know I might have some shoulder stuff that can really help you too. I will have to see if I can dig it up. Treilin is no longer an active poster on this board but she really is amazing with shoulder injuries, does physical therapy for a living I think, and gave me some great pre/post workout exercises that helped DRAMATICALLY.
Maybe it can add to that Cressey stuff.

Nice work on the front squats Kook. I wish i could use the clean grip; for whatever reason i cant use it, i think my forearms are a little long:dunno: also hurts my wrists quite severly. This leaves me to cross my arms not that i mind but the delts take alot of abuse.

nuttin' wrong with getting your quad pump on after those Fronts :)
Excellent bro! Those are some awesome singles, and I am glad you got some encouraging signs...
Thanks kab, anything that can help, i've been talking to all kinds of people and picking a little up here and there
Nice work on the front squats Kook. I wish i could use the clean grip; for whatever reason i cant use it, i think my forearms are a little long:dunno: also hurts my wrists quite severly. This leaves me to cross my arms not that i mind but the delts take alot of abuse.
Thanks g21, use the straps as seen in c.smiths log, I've done that a few times when wrists hurt like hell, it works nice. I used to do fronts as accesory work in the 10rep range 225 or so and only did the cross arms(didn't know about the clean grip back then) and man it felt like I was going to pop a bicep from holding the weight like that. I've only really done front's a few times with the clean grip but the flexibility came quick, I only have 2 fingers on the bar.
315lb on the front squats :bowdown::bowdown:
Cressey has several articles on t-nation called shoulder savers I II and III. Great articles. I had him for an on-line trainer and loved his warmup routines. I still do them.
Thanks claire! pr is higher, but the after not doing them for a long time the 315 did not feel heavy but they were too slow! this article was on tnation as well, but will have to look for those others
Nice squattin bro!!
thanks Ray! i'm on my way back
Nice FS kook!
Thanks craig, mean a lot coming from the king! Thanks for those links for highland games, I'm all fired up about it, and looking at a show, there was one in maine, in july looked pretty nice, I know a guy who made a run for the olympics back in the 70's in the hammer and shot, his brother went to the oly's, hope he can teach me the technique
That is some great front squatting man. Happy to see you hit that. Those will only improve your hip, quad and core strength.
Keep it up
I didn't take the belt with me, and I felt all of those things like you wouldn't believe, actually right hip is bothering me a bit but thats nothing new

LOL, actually I kind of like this training, good for metabolism, and don't get so beat up, good at least while I'm trying to lose weight.

Nice job Kook... I think having a decent performance on days you don't feel it, consistently, matters more in the grand scheme of things than having a great performance on the days you are feeling it. It's almost easy on those days.

yup they all count man.
the worst workout you ever had was better than none at all. remember that and keep consistent regardless the best ya can whether its @ 100% or 50% who gives a fuck. it'll get ya there eventually and leave ya one day closer to yr goals than ya were before the workout.
life throws ya speed bumps and puts walls in yr way, if ya try to fly over every one or bust thru every wall you'll end up in a wheel chair. its all about slowin down and coastin over the bumps and findin a route around the walls smartly that'll get ya to yr destination. think marathon, not sprint. especially you, yr young man. you got a lifetime of strength ahead of ya. some of the strongest guys on the planet (strongman AND pl'rs) are in their late 30's early 40's.
Can you imagine where you'll be if you stay healthy and consistent until yr late 30's early 40's? Fuckin scary in a good way isnt it? Especially lookin at what you can do now. Yr in yr early 20's with a 720+ pull. Are you fucking kidding? And youve been spending time fucking with cutting and bulking etc rather than just going balls out for strength and yr still a beast...
Imagine just 5 years from now if you stay consistent and healthy let alone when you peak in yr late 30's/early40's. Goddamn. Keep the end game in sight bro.
Some guys are born with talent and rely on it but are lazy and end up doing "well". Some guys are born with nothing and get a fire under their ass and become "great". But some guys are born with potential AND get a fire lit under their ass and become legends.
Keep with it bud and just fucking KNOW you will get there. Dont let anything or anyone tell you different. No matter what sidelines you, keep that focus, train smart - stay healty and picture your goal and KNOW you will get there. That mentality is more powerful than any supplement or enhancer on this earth.
I wish to god i had someone ride me when i was younger in my teens to get consistent and lift. I cant even imagine where id be if i started at 15 or 16 instead of 21 but i hafta work with the hand i was dealt.
In other words, youve got everything in yr favor to really build something man so stay healthy and make us proud ;).

Not bad pulling guy, considering the right hip. How is it doing?
At any rate hydrate, watch potassium intake and you should be fine.
catching up, workouts look great! :boxing: holy cardio!

You're right Kab, just have to know when to push it

Awesome post fude, thanks, will have to read that a few more times. I started late as well, played sports in HS, and then nothing in college, went to 350lbs, so from when i was 20-21 went down to 198lbs, and then started lifting heavy, so only 5 years now and maybe 3 of those years serious, I slipped up with drinking and girls for awhile.

the hip has been a problem for awhile now, maybe a year, off and on kind of thing, its not pain, but more an achy, if I sit in the wrong way for too long it will start to hurt kind of thing. Need to be better about foam rolling.

Thanks CK! Nothing like the crazy workouts you've been doing, mine is just slow cardio:grin:
Farmersturns every 30 ft.
100x120ft
150x120ft

Yoke turns at 30ft
210x60
300x60
390x60
480x60
570x60
660x60 all of these were very fast, 660 usually feels heavy and is very slow but not the case today
Tire

900x5
Sand Bag carries
150lbx180ft
200x120ft
225x60ft
Good conditioning today, didn't want to push it too hard, but things felt light and grip felt strong.
So one of my training partners asks If I'm going to do a contest on May 3. aside from the log press, it looks like a good contest and of course will probably do it, "battle of the bad ass" in New York
