Default Q about preservatives in tuna

I have noticed since I was younger that every time I eat either canned tuna fish or chicken when I urinate later on, there is a residual smell of the product. This always stood out to me, but never found out why. The only thing I can think is that it may be due to a preservative that is used? Any other explanations?

I don't really think it is normal, so would this mean I should stay away from these products due to some sort of reaction that is causing this?

I would think it's from the water it's packed in, not preservatives.

I think ulter is right. I eat a lot of tuna and drain as much water as possible and I've never had that problem

I always drain it all out and even rinse it thoroughly with fresh water...it still happens.
