I just read t-cake's story and inspired me to write mine:wiggle:
Last November I was 200-205 at about 10-12% bf, and that's when everything went to hell. I was in a serious car accident in december, sliding into the ditch backwards at 90. The car did 3 or 4 end-over-end backflips, landing roughly 40 feet in the brush, quite a ways down from where it slid in. People in their houses watching TV about 300m away said they heard it and called 911:lol: I crawled over the front seats and pulled myself out of the rear driver side door (only one that would open) and walked to the road. Man I was pissed, mostly because I just put new $160 "halogen" headlights in a couple days earlier.
Anyway, it truned out I had compressed the T12 vertabrae into the L1, resulting in a 17 degree forward and 16 degree left curvature at the joint, like a mild scoliosis. The doctor said the curvature was not cureable and I wouldn't beable to play sports or workout heavy ever again, and was surprised no other ligaments or tendons were damaged on the spinal column.
I spent 4 weeks in bed , 3 months in a backbrace, and another 3 in physio.
Rather then take the doc's advice, I started doing core work and light full body workouts everyday when i got the brace off in may, along with core stretches 4+ times a day(especially convave stretches) and core stability exercises twice daily. When I went back to the doc in August, he said he didn't know how(:wallbash:) but there was no left curvature and only 4 degrees forward, basicly non-existent.
I went from 200, to 165 at 15% bf. In late september, I started a simple 500mg/w test cycle, which turned into a 200mg/w hrt in december.
So, here's a few current pics at about 180 pounds. I would be 190 or more by now, but my SO refuses to let me get out of training for an upcoming marathon with her.:(

As a note, this isn't meant to be a sob story, but more of don't give up on your goals just because of a doc's opinion, kind of thing.

You look great!! :)

Very cool story. You're lucky to be alive AND mobile. Family friend of mine had a spinal injury that pretty much ruined his quality of life from a car accident so consider yourself blessed!

Is this come kind of sob story???
J/K..lol.
Great job my friend! It's refreshing to see somone w/enough determination to better their situation. I'm sure it would've been much easier to feel sorry for yourself, take all the pain killers you could get, and eat like a fat slob.. but you didn't take the easy way as most do. Keep it up!

Thanks! it's on April 5th giving me 10.5 weeks more to train. as soon as it's finished, i'm going to back off the cardio to 3 half hour sessions a week and put more energy into a BB'ing lifestyle again. I still have goals like reaching 220, etc, but am more concerned with overall health these days. if i feel my best at 190, 200, 210, etc, then that's where i'll stay.

Good for you!!! You are definitely blessed to recover like that. It DOES happen, that a doc is 'wrong' . :) Marathons do have a significant impact on the spine with all the pounding.. maybe tell her your back is bothering you and you must lift weights and strengthen your core et al , you will cheer her from the side lines ... :)

No? I tried...

Best wishes to you :D
