OK, here's my situation/stats:
245 lbs @ 5'9ish. Last summer, at around the same stats, I was 18 - 19%. I feel I've lost a percentage point or so since then. For some reason I lost 5 lbs after the new year, then gained 10. I'm not getting weaker as I expected, so I'm gonna scale back my cals by a few hundred. I was at approx 2700, with average 45P, 25C, 30F.
I'm on Glyburide & Metformin as needed for diabetes.
Crestor & Ezetrol for Cholesterol.
I take Vits C, B, D. Cal Mag, Glucosamine/Chondroitin, CoQ10, 2 - 3g Omega3s.
I train with weights 2-3 times per week depending on work & family commitments. I do cardio not nearly enough, but that'll change now that I got my new :treadmill:.
I'm gonna post up all my workouts from 28.1. 08, which is the start of my current "week". I lift in cycles of 3 main workouts, and occasionally throw in extra workouts if time is short, or if I'm nursing an ailment.

Synopsis
Felt good. Nice change of pace. I wanted to mix things up a bit. I felt kinda bad for this hawtie on the tread in front of me. She was running for almost the whole time I was on the Xtrainer. Around 8 mph, very impressive. She finished before me, & when she got off I could see her workout stats. 5 ish miles, she ran, and for all that she only burned 620 cals. And, for me anyways, the tread tends to overstate the actual cals burned. :tread:

Ummmm, actually on the 28th I skipped the Inclines and Front Squats. Re Claires response, I just kept the exercises in & changed the numbers so peeps could see what I normally do. I'm s'posed to be hitting each workout (1, 2, and 3) each week, but due to other commitments it's usually 2 weeks between specific workouts. Next time around I'll be hitting them.

Well, I had my Flu shot. I don't think it's the Flu, 'cause I'm feeling better today. No :turd: or :puke: Still dizzy & weak though, so i'm not going to work.
There seems to be so many viruses going around, I was bound to catch something.

Well, I slept for about 7 1/2 hrs last night, about 3 hrs this morning, then about 4 hrs this afternoon.
I did get in my cardio today. Sorta. After wifey came home from work, she said she thought she was getting sick. So, while she did dinner, I went out & shovelled snow. I took it easy, paced myself. I didn't over exert, but it was taxing after getting done what I needed to.

I did try morning cardio. Just to see how my joints take to it. 15 min walk at 3.0 mph. Cals, not worth mentioning. Gonna work up to going longer, which means working up to getting up earlier. Then I'll work on the speed, see if I can go fast enough to wake wifey up. :evil[1]: :ahh:

So, Yesterday I was kinda fatigued. I did get a small workout in. 4 sets of BB rows & 4 sets of squats. Not too heavy, just gauging my condition.
I also got 2 sets of 4 chin ups at work.
This morning I got 20 minutes walking on the tread. Workin up.

Do you find that complexes are best programmed after heavy lifting days? Does it aid in recovery at all?
I love 'em I just don't know where to stick 'em... I always worry about it affecting my squat or DL.

Because the weight you're using is a smaller percentage of your maxes, it really doesn't tax your strength much. The main thing is the speed of the reps, the number of reps per set & the minimal rest between sets.
I actually find it's better before heavy lifting days. If it's after, the DOMS from the heavy work affects your complexes. I haven't noticed it aiding recovery, but I haven't been consistant enough with them to track it.

I got the moose from a friend at work. He'd had it, frozen, for a coupla years. It was really well wrapped, 'cause when I thawed it I trimmed about 3/8" off all the way around & the meat looked dark & rich. Very little fat, no discolorations. He said to cook the roast in Tomato juice to negate the gaminess & the texture of the fat.:dunno: So I diced it up, browned it, & simmered it with some spices & Italian style Diced tomatos. Tasted like beef. It was nice & tender. I'd eat it again in a heartbeat.

Yeah, it's the first time I've done the Pendlays, so I set my max by that. My reg BB rows were 200 or so for a 5RMX 3 sets, so these were pretty much my limit for 5 sets.
Yeah, the OHPs are strict. I was very weak in these for a long while & they're coming together. When I stall, I'll start mixing in some PPs.

Bah, it all makes sense now. I just glanced at it. And with the low numbers, and not paying attention to zeroes, dates can get confusing. Still it would be pretty sweet to workout in the future... rofl.
OHP's are a pain for me as well. Keep on pushing though, and don't be afraid to do a little PP on the last rep, if you need to, when your weights are getting heavier. A lot of OH stuff is mental for me. Once it's been OH a few times, it gets easier to do it strict. good stuff man!
You may be doing less exercises, but with the heavy straight sets plus the building and the back off, you are doing a ton of working volume, maybe more than before even (?). Great job.

Yeah, I was feelin it a bit today, in tha 'bows.

Yup, and yup, and nope.
I think the headache are from my ongoing sinus issues, outside shovelling, and humid.
In today's news. No workouts. Except for 1/2 hr shovelling before work 2 hrs on the snowblower at work, and 45 min shovelling after work.

No workouts yesterday. Ifelt beat up from all the shovelling, snowblowing. The 'blowing exacerbated my tendonitis and carpal tunnel, plus an old hip injury.
The wifey also had me doing my husbandly duties :brickhead: . Tonight, I continue.

I took extra time to rest between working sets, due to my aches & pains.
Dead Lift: 1 RM - 465, 5 RM – 405
10 X 85
10 X 170
5 X 245, started straps here. I just had no grip strength today.
5 X 5 X 325
11 X 240
No grip strength today. For some reason my forearms where just baked after the pull ups at work.

10 X 40
10 X 70
5 X 120
5 X 5 X 155
8X120
I think I figured out my aches and pains are a result of my last time with this exercise. My wrists, forearms, shoulders, and abs/obliques. Probably from trying to go a little too heavy with a new move. Getting the leg drive each time was tough. Getting the weight up when the leg drive was lacking, stabilizing the weight, and lowering it under control, all contributed to uncommon stresses.
This time I lowered the weight a tad.
I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it. – Thomas Jefferson
B.B. Rows: 1 RM - 240, 5 RM – 210
10 X 50
10 X 80
5 X 120
5 X 5 X 165
12 X 130
Lotsa back work. I needs it.
Say nothing of my religion. It is known to God and myself alone. Its evidence before the world is to be sought in my life: if it has been honest and dutiful to society the religion which has regulated it cannot be a bad one. – Thomas Jefferson
Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. There are so many excellent Thomas Jefferson quotes, but I can’t log them all.

Honestly, babes, GET SOME SLEEP! I'm terrible with it, but man alive, makes a huge difference. When you're not getting enough rest, it will help the body to become more insulin resistant, therefore making it easier to hold onto fat stores and water weight that's lyin' around. If THAT doesn't put me to sleep, I don't know what will! :)
Glad to see you getting that water in too -- that and the sleep should help to decrease the headache frequency.

Well, today is my 4th day with no diet pop. I haven't noticed any difference. I'm having 1 regular Coke each day.
I also had my first hypo-glycemic experience today in 3 months or so. My glucose has been up since I was first sick in January. It's been dropping for the past 1½ weeks. This is good, ‘cause it means I am exercising ahead of my calorie intake. I had raised my meds to scripted levels, so I can soon start dropping them again.
YOU ROCK!:boxing:
BE CAREFUL BRO!!!!
If for any reason slip of the grip is a concern with benching don't be shy about using chalk.
Your workouts are killer bro... the endurance gained by those killer straight sets is going to carry over real well down the road.

Nice job with the complexes
I'm glad you've been able to manage your diabetes. Sounds scary but it also sounds like you are on top of it.

NO worries about slipping. I was just mentioning that because of the rush I get. I'm not that strong compared to a lot of guys on here, but if I mention what I bench at work, everybody tells me how dangerous it is, LOL.
Diabetes is scarry & is a death sentence if not taken seriously. So many manage with pills alone & just keep gettin fatter. :(

Hmmm, umm, yeah. How 'bout those Maple Leafs eh?
Well, I have many excuses all warmed up if you really wanna hear them. Truth is, I've just not been tight enough with the diet. I'm gonna change my workouts so I don't have to wait so long to recover, then I can give er a little bit more.
Thanks for asking.

Synopsis
Hmm, again, I’ve experienced some pain. My wrist is getting better, but my elbow pain during rows was new. It was only during the exercise, though. Overall the workout went good.
One more workout left in this series, then I'm on to something else. Higher reps, lower weight, faster pace.
I tried another sample of naNO Vapor by Muscletech. I did feel a little flushing from the Beta Alanine, or something else. There was no determinable effect on my workout, from it. :poser:

She has decided she doesn't want to return home. She's going to stay in the hospital, or go to a hospice and wait for the end. Prolly 2-3- weeks.

:deadlift: 20.3.08 :deadlift:
:redevil: 45 mins, including warm up and cool down. :redevil:
8 reps of each exercise, only resting enough for reracking the bar, with a set of ab work & 1 minute rest =1 round. :puke:
Exercises:
Squats,
OHP,
Deadlift,
Flat Bench Press,
BB Rows,
Pull Downs,
Alternate sets with hang cleans with GMs.
85 lbs. I reweighted my bars, ‘cause I got a new, thicker bar. Turns out, the one bar I was using was 25 lbs, not 20. So I’ve been using 85 lbs, not 80.
I did 6 rounds. I also did 6 sets of 15 incline sit ups between the working sets, for a total of 60.
450 cals in 45 mins. Starting HR was 93, Max HR 161(92%), Avg HR 132(75%)
Warm up & cool down on Tread, then had to get to physio.
Synopsis
That was better. I’ll work up to the 10 reps. Man, I was sweating my a$$ off by the time I was done. I had planned to do another round, but by the time I got there my form was so sloppy I was in danger of falling or hurting something.
I gotta say, I’m loving the hang cleans. I’ve almost got the form down, so I’m using my shoulders & not my legs. I looked like I was doing some sort of hangpush cleanjerk thing.
Water, 5.5 litres. :toilet:
Got a call from my Dad again tonight. SMom's home, for now. Turns out her potassium & something else are out of whack. So she's home, but it's only temporary. Her prognosis is still approx a month.

Start 18:00, finish 19:30.
This is a long workout. Deads take forever, for me.
Dead Lift: 1 RM - 465, 5 RM – 405
10 X 85
10 X 175
5 X 255
5 X 5 X 335 (straps)
10 X 245 I had to regrip 3 times, or I was gonna lose it.

Push Press: 1 RM - 185, 5 RM – 170
10 X 40
10 X 75
5 X 115
3 X 5 X 160
2 X 5 X 165
10X120
This went better, so I raised the weight for the last 2 sets. I think technique proficiency is still holding me back a bit.

B.B. Rows: 1 RM - 240, 5 RM – 210
10 X 50
10 X 90
5 X 130
5 X 5 X 175
12 X 135
Felt good. First set, there was a little pain in my left medial epicondyle ligament, but after that it was good.

I'm fighting it, but there's no turning back. At one time I got to a point where I was able to get off meds for a year. But it's progressive. Sometimes you can fight it to a stand still, but it'll get ya. I just want to stay as healthy as I can 'til they find a cure. With proper management I can prolly live to a ripe old age, but any way you look at it, it's cost me years off my life.

Thnaks to Bev for the heads up.
I think I got my diet to the point where I can comfortably handle the shame when I post. Starting Monday.
Last night I slept through the night again, and with my CPAP intact. That's 2 nights in a row, and the first time that's happened in so long I can't remember. Well over a year, I think. I'll hold judgement on whether it's the Flonase, or the anti-Bs until I go off the anti-Bs. If it stays clear, I may cancel, or postpone my surgery.

Practicing my front/zercher squats. For some reason I can’t keep the left shoulder under the bar, when I’m using the straps. Mummy stance seems to work OK at the weights I use. :coolred:

:madfawk: Today's cardio, 30.3.08 :madfawk:
Treadmill: 45 mins, 2.0 – 6.0 mph., Incline 1.5 – 5.5 deg.
Walk/run. I did wifey’s program. Man it was tough. It’s her walking program but she jogs at 4 mph. 4 mph is odd for me. It’s too slow to run, but if I walk it, I get shin splints & sore ankles. So coupla times I bumped it up to 6.0 mph.

Well, the weight wasn't quite high enough to be a real challenge, yet. I didn't want to overdo it, 'cause I've had shoulder probs in the past. The motion seemed ok. I have the D.B.s out from my med delts, and my motion is, elbows up the sides, as opposed to the normal OHP motion with a bar.
I did notice more of an emphasis on core stability, and I'm, looking forward to raising the weights.
