Hey all! Simply creating the log for now....haven't been to the gym since last Monday (Back/Shoulders) as I've been sick with a stomach virus..... :toilet: Don't think it'd be a good idea to try squats, y'know? LOL

I'm hoping to get back to the gym next week....I'm getting tired of the 5am routine tho, so I'm thinking of switching to PM gym time maybe....not sure if I want to deal with the crowds tho....maybe I'll try it for a week & see....

I haven't been feeling "right" for a while now - so I'm thinking I'm not getting enough sleep + work has been hectic. January into Feb. is our busy time due to year-end close out & getting budgets done & the audit, etc, which is why I'm thinking of trying afternoon workouts again....

Not this year......in order to be more competitive, I need to add about 10lbs of muscle - so I'm working on that.....

I know fat very well my dear! I did not reduce BF much last summer so I have gone 2 years since really seeing ME.

There are pics here to prove that I am still fat. So having been more or less bulking for 2 years I am in full commisseration with not liking the fat feeling :D

And hooray for new gloves and a belt! You be stylin' now! :bear:

Well, I'm going to TRY to add 10lbs of muscle - don't know if I can, so we'll see.....who knows how much fat will go along with that??

Thanks guys! I've recovered from my stomach virus, but the cold is still lingering on.....I haven't been to the gym as I figure people wouldn't appreciate me coughing all over them. My head (ears, nose) are completely clogged & I can't smell or taste anything.

Plus, we've been VERY busy at work, so I've been working a good amount of OT......

I recovered from that pretty quickly but then got a horrible cold.....I'm feeling better for the most part but I'm still coughing....Going to try going to the gym tonite & see how it goes......I'm tired of getting up at 5am, so I'm hoping the gym isn't too crowded at nite....

Do you ever go to the gym without a plan? Just do whatever exercises you want and enjoy working out. Or maybe try a totally different workout plan.

I think we all just need some sunshine :)

So you don't always do morning workouts? :) It's tough, girl, but you did it and it's DONE and you did AWESOME!

The first time I started those workouts in the morning, I was getting up at 4am in the dead of winter in MI and it sucked, man! Now, I'm useless on mornings I don't do it, honestly. Takes time, but it's soooooo much better than training at night. Less crowded, no cramped spaces, open cardio equipment, minimal people there who aren't regulars -- we have a little morning gym family at my gym, and we like it. :) I'm glad you did it today!

Winter in the snow and cold and dark is tough - I know ALL about it (live north of the 60th parallel) and tanning beds are my savior! But I LOVE the comment 'brown fat looks better than white fat'. I need to use that.

I started going to the gym in the am for my contest prep......prior to that I always went in the afternoon right after work at 4pm before it gets TOO mobbed.....then after my shows, I kept going in the morning.....

Lately tho, I'm just tired of getting up so early......AM workouts don't energize me at all.....But I'm tired all the time anyways (have always been that way).

Are you maybe getting burned out? I don't have anything different to tell you than what everyone else has said but I do know the spot you are in. Been there countless times myself. Perhaps you could take some time away from the gym completely and do some pampering on Jens. Especially since you are working alot and you have been sick.

PM Training
Walked 3 blocks from the office to the gym (considered this a warmup)
Leg Exts: 70lbs - 1x10; 90lbs - 1x10; 110lbs - 1x10; 130lbs - 1x6 (hard on the shins)
(basically all warmup the legs sets...)
Squats w/std bar: 50lbs added (warmup; not belted); 90lbs added - 2x6, 1x5, 1x6 (all belted)
SLDLs w/std bar: 50lbs added (just left the belt on) - 1x10; 70lbs added - 1x8; 90lbs added - 2x6
Calf Press on Leg Sled: 485lbs - 3x15
Leg Press on leg sled: 305lbs - 4x8
DB Curls: 20lb DBs - 1x8*; 22.5lb DBs - 1x7*, 2x6*
*each arm
Seated Calf Raise: 90lbs - 1x15; 115lbs - 2x15
DB Lunges (I STILL hate these!): 30lb DBs - 3x6 each leg
Seated Leg Curl: 90lbs - 1x10; 95lbs - 2x8; 110lbs - 1x6
Cable Curls on the LF Cable Rack: 32.5lbs - 3x6

**The belt really helped with my "spine compression" issue on squats....didn't feel that at all....Cool!! My legs are soooooo sore already!

Been feeling the workouts this week....feel like I lost some strength with those 3 weeks off but I'm hoping it'll come back soon.....

And I made 1 goal of the year!!!! Got an appt for a Mammogram in 2 weeks right after the dentist.......So I'll get my teef picked & my boobs squished....but I've put off doing it for no particular reason for a couple years....but the appt is made.....:hi5:

Planning on going for my bloodwork next week.....

It seems we made an error when printing the W2s and a box was printed incorrectly....well the new ones HAD to be printed this week - a short week due to Friday being a holiday, a payroll week, etc and they had to be redone NOW in great haste.....thus I have 1 million papercuts on my left hand but as of 3:20pm today 7 boxes of the damned things were mailed with 3 boxes remaining to be mailed tomorrow.....Oh and by the end of tomorrow I have a year of a bank acct to be reconciled - a new one I've not done before.... :puke:

Oh, food today.....

Co-worker had a birthday and she's been feeling down, so I went out & bought a $5 gerber daisy plant to cheer her up....she seemed to like it....but for the Bday, we had brownies & a peanut butter mousse pie. I had 1 slice of pie and it was SOOOOO good....What I was happy about was that I had only ONE slice of the pie when I usually would have had 2+ & didn't eat any brownies - which I could have anytime, really, nothing special. I had the pie cuz it's not something I'd buy and it's from a place I'm not close to.....So, in general I'm happy about that....

So food was:

M1
Homemade Breakfast Sammich:
100 cal WW English muffin + 2 eggs + 1 slice FF cheese + 1 meatless patty + 1 packet ketchup

M2
Technically, the pie

M3
Turkey + roasted veggies (carrots, asparagus, potatoes, onions, peppers)

M4
PWO shake - 1 scoop protein powder + BCAAs + glutamine

M5
Greek salad w/chicken + a piece of spinach calzone

I'm pretty sure if you drink a diet coke while you eat the pie, the diet coke cancels out the calories in the pie.;)

Oh and a knee update.....

4/4 will be 2 years since my surgery.....so I'm due for the testing again....gotta do hop tests w/the brace on (maybe no brace, not sure) and then I have to do the electric-shock thing + the 2 hour + motion analysis test.....This will complete my testing for good....It'll be interesting to see how strong my right leg is now....last test it was only just over 80% of the left....

WOW Has it really been that long already.....Doesn't seem that long ago!

What brand of BCAAs do you take? I have been buying Biotest BCAAs (capsules) but feel they are overpriced so am shopping around.

Oh here's a pic of the path we made last weekend......Where the black wire is - we put 3 landscape lights yesterday......where the dirt is, we're going to put sod and/or plants......

http://i26.tinypic.com/206llck.jpg

And here's a picture of the yard from the deck......Where the hill is up to the fence, we're going to put plants so we won't have to mow it.....plus, it'll look nicer.....and this weekend also along the top there, we have a buffer with the landscape ties to the fence....so I filled in a little bit more pea gravel and we secured the ties to the ground so they don't roll down the hill.....The house behind us is vacant & for sale, so we're going to jump the fence & secure the cinder blocks better to their leaves don't wash down into our yard as much.....

Curious..are those type of fences pretty much the "norm" in America :dunno: I would find it strange to be able to see into your neighbors back yard :ahh: we have timberlap fencing that is about 6f tall..so you can't see over at all..

Yep - it's a cheap way to divide the property line.... I guess after living in the inner city for 17 years, I don't find it strange to see into the other yards but we are planning on putting up fencing....

In the one pic where the path is, the entry way will be a 6ft privacy fence with a gate & along where my wood scraps are might be tall trees - haven't decided yet....

Thanks girlie!! :rose: I planted some grass plants in between the lights, so when they fill in it should look really nice....

Sunday 4/6

Spent the day today digging in the dirt in the yard......planted some plants along my walkway and pulled a ton of onion grass + laid out peat moss; turned some dirt over in a big planting bed, pulled all the weeds, raked it and used the leftover dirt/junk to fill in a hole in the yard by the road where people were parking on the grass before we moved in......we also jumped the fence in the yard behind ours & redid the small "retaining wall" that had fallen apart (just 2 levels of old lanscaping ties) -- no one lives there & it's for sale so we did on the day the construction crew wasn't around.....

I'm tired & sore, so to me it counts as exercise.....

I'm not really sure as I can't tell with the layer of fat I have over everything.....I *feel* huge and weigh a LOT (for me - 160lbs or so last time I checked).

Wow! What a GREAT day!!

Lindsay (the cat) had to go to the vet today for dental surgery. They had to do a big cleaning & were expecting to have to extract her teeth.....Dropped her off at 7:30am and I didn't cry.....the vet called at 10:30 and said she's done and they didn't have to take any teeth out. Whoooo!! She has some gingivitis but he's expecting it to maybe heal up with all the gunk gone. With cats, dirty teeth often lead to kidney disease and her kidney values are on the high side of normal. So the purpose of it all was to head off the kidney disease advancing. So good news there!

She's been almost paranoid recovering from the anesthesia, but no wheezing (good sign) and she's eaten & drank.....

Also had my 2 year post-op testing today.....got the 1 and done on the leg electrocution and got to explain Figure to a PT from Norway. I have NO swelling and am back to full ROM - 4 hyperextention on my left & 3 on my right. Both legs are as strong as they were 1 year ago and the right is stronger than it was last year. I hate the Burst test with a passion, so I don't think I gave the test my all TBH. But since the level was the same as last year, they took it. So good new there too!

It ended up I got it all done earlier than I thought and got to plant the plants I bought today in a new flower bed we dug out....

Does digging a hole count?

Damn WORK is hard! I'd never make it on a farm....Today's project was buying a 1/2 pallet of Fieldstone then unloading it from the truck and digging the hole for the pond. We bought a pond kit which has a hard plastic liner that you set into the ground. So we (mostly hubby) dug the hole today which was a royal PITA cuz of all the tree roots - they had to be cut to be able to dig out the dirt.....the darn thing is about 3-4 feet deep, then we'll surround it with the fieldstone.....

Shoveling dirt & cutting roots is nothing like weights....

Hey sista!!!

Was thinking of giving that shoulder blaster circuit a shot... it it 5 reps of everything each time through too?? I'm assuming a minute or two break and then repeat the 5 exercise circuit?

Oh wait I see this time you did it different, and did 6 reps for each and 4 times around correct?

Yeah, you can change up how many times you do the circuit - any number of times is fine.....

But you do say, 5 reps of lat raises, then immediately do 5 reps of O/H press, then 5 reps of bent over lat raises, then 5 reps of front raises then 5 reps of upright rows. That's 1 circuit.....rest for a minute then do it again.....

** I don't know why, but all my sets seemed terribly difficult tonite.....I had a hard time lifting the weights I normally lift....frustrating! My Red Blast didn't help even a bit either.....maybe I need a bigger dose.....

And I'm not happy about our gym's new policy of NO bags in the gym - NONE at all! I have a mini back pack where I keep my Ipod, backup Ipod, 2 sets of gloves, 2 sets of straps, a resin back, pencils, chap stick, etc -- I USE all of this stuff, so how am I supposed to carry it around the gym?? I can see no duffel bags with all your clothes & jackets & stuff....but I need my stuff! This is BS! :bash:

Friday 4/25

Was going to do cardio tonite, but my step-daughter came over with some news (she's moving into her own place!) so we took her out to dinner instead.... *sniff* she's all growed up now.....

Saturday 4/26

Was planning on going to the gym today to do my leg workout under the drop set routine, but we decided to go out & get a 1/2 pallet of Field stone. Once we unloaded it from the truck I decided to rearrange the field stones around the fountain as we got some BIG ones in the new load. Then we put the rest around the flower bed we had made at the base of the deck. THEN we went out & got 1/2 yard of tan & white egg river rock and a downspout extension for the front of the house to direct the water away from the house & down the washout. Then we covered the extension with the river rock......

Once we got all that done, I was TIRED!! But I need to make up that workout somewhere.....either tomorrow or I'll do 2 leg workouts next week.....

I can 110% relate to the being pale part :aah: my blood line is English and Irish..not a lot of chance for a tan there

Same here, English & Irish although I do eventually tan after I burn a whole lot.... not worth the cancer anymore....

I can see a little definition when I'm in a dark, shadowy area of the gym sometimes.....

Don't you worry sunshine..I can see you are getting stronger and that is bound to equal more muscle WHEN you do cut back down

So are you DEFINITELY not competing this year or are you going to see how you go :dunno:

No definitely not this year.....the 2 shows I'd want to do are in June and August which I'm working both. I also want to save some $$$$ for a new suit.....

**Made up my drop set leg workout!! This is the last of the drop sets....the rest of the week will be standard lifts, no circuits....

So now that you're done with the circuits how do you feel you did with them? Will you put them back between now and your show?

I liked them, but then I got sick of them......and I'll do what I'm told to do as my workouts are given to me by my coach....he usually does give me circuits as I get closer to show time tho.....

Your killing the workouts there sistah!!!

Thank you ma'am!! Just trying to keep up with you!!

**OK I will preface this by saying I did NOT want to go to the gym tonite....feeling lazy & tired.....my boss left work early so I lazed around a bit during my last 1/2 hour there.....so I was paging thru my F&P magazine and began reading about a male competitor who contracted a flesh-eating bacterial disease in his leg and he had to have it amputated. However, he still works out & competes.....they have a few pics of him and it was a very nice story. Well, my complaining seemed so trivial compared to his story & it inspired me, so I got my azz to the gym & did my leg workout.....

Warmup: Walked from the office to the gym....

^^^ YOWZA, that is a killer back workout! Amazing job there, Jens!

 about the no-tension on the bike. That'd drive me bananas!!! Good job for finishing up anyway.

It must contagious this week, the "too lazy and tired and no-gym" feeling. I had it this morning, but I'm so happy I went. Nothing's better than an angry workout!

I was at the gym a couple of days ago and there was a 19ish year old kid there who clearly thought he was the shit. He got on a leg press and threw 2 45 pound plates on each side and battled his way through a set and ALL I could think about was how that kid would wet his pants if he saw you training your legs there. He probably would have cried.
