I have been postponing getting serious about the state of my physical fitness for quite some time. It was always tomorrow this tomorrow that. Probably the biggest realization was that I make too many excuses and I lack consistency and discipline, and those have been the reason I look the way I do. My legs are my biggest concern--cellulite is raging and there is no way I would put on a swimsuit and go swimming in the public pool unless I get the situation under control. I used to have quads, now I have flab.

Where do I start?

First, I plan to get on a schedule and start waking up early--that would be the toughest, but without it, I will not be able to take care of my family, go to work, and get in shape.

Second, I plan an overdue visit to fitday.com and try to get my nutrition in check.

Third, I need to figure out an exercise plan. I have been taking yoga, pole fitness, and ballet, and next was boxing workout in a no-frills type of boxing gym--the real deal...

I can't just go back to lifting after 20 months of not using weights and a shoulder injury and I don't have a gym nearby that I want to join. All gyms that I like are at least 5 miles away and that can be a drag in traffic.

If I make it past day 30 that would be a big success for me and it would mean that I am finally doing something right. Like I said, I lack discipline and I have been in denial for a while.

Oh, yes, and if I collect the courage, I will post some "before" pictures with the hope that there will be "after" pictures. One last thing, I am not a New Year's Resolution person, it is just a coincidence that I went to the fitting room at Macy's and saw my legs in the mirror under that dreadful light...

X2, except it was at Banana Republic... egads.

Sounds like the TODO list is established, time to get those items to the TODONE list! I also hear you on convenient access to gyms. I used to drive 30 min to a gym because I couldn't find any near my house (or at least where I didn't feel unsafe being there after dark...). Now I've got a couple of Crunch Fitnesses close to my house & work. The stinker is they took it over from Gold's, though the pussification of Gold's has been happening for a while as well.

So you're doing the pole dancing thing? How do you like it? Apparently Crunch Fitness offers that as a special class - not sure how they do it, if its like for a special ocassion, you hire the instructor and pay for the classroom and they provide the poles or something. I havent' seen it as an actual scheduled class tho.

Welcome to AF & off & running!

I'll definitely be following along!

Oh, I can relate... Welcome and good luck with the goals. A log has always helped me because of the accountability it provides. I always wanted to be proud of what I wrote down. If I wasn't, it seemed to help me do better the next time. Keep that drive. :cheer:

Thanks for all the responses! I am with a messy shoulder situation; shoulder instability is one thing but the damn thing randomly pops and it hurts..Last year I was told that I should just rest my shoulder and I had to give up on lifting for a while. I whole year of resting it did not help. Pole fitness is no joke and it requires certain core and upper body strength, which I don't possess. It is def the most fun way of building upper body strength, but it has to wait ...In the mean time I am scheduled to see my orthopedic surgeon, doing yoga and trying to get on the right track with my diet, but my diet has been awful for so long that it is going to take some time to get back, but the fact that I am reading all of your awesome posts and the fact that I am trying--that alone still holds some promise.

I need to start pre-cooking for the whole week
I need to start waking up at 5:30 am --> I need to start going to bed at/before 10 pm

To get into a routine you have to be disciplined and really believe in yourself--assuming the desire to get in kick-ass shape is there. It is easier to be disciplined when you are alone or when you live with someone who is extremely disciplined...With that said--I am facing an even bigger challenge...

I've been going to bed closer and closer to 10 pm but that did not translate into an ability to waking up easier in the am! So, exercising in the am has not happened yet...

This is tough! But I got to keep on trying. I am tired of using rubber bands to hold my suit pants in place. I know it sounds pathetic... So, tonight 3 egg whites for dinner and some salad--no dressing.

Hi Sassy. I don't know how Crunch does it, but the owner of the pole fitness studio where I go is leasing a room (studio) from another local gym. The room is dedicated to pole fitness. Windows are blacked out and no on-lookers are allowed. They do throw bachelorette parties at the studio...But it is really all about the sport (I think it's a sport actually and it is pretty big in England). It is so fun, liberating and it really helps develop better flexibility and amazing strength, but if you have shoulder problems--I'd be very careful... You can't be in touch with your inner diva if you can't get a proper grip of the pole :-) So, sadly it's on hold in my case.

Last night for dinner did not manage eating just 3 egg whites...But instead had 3 eggs and a salad with balsamic vinegar only. Still pretty good considering how long I have been on the food-abuse roll.

This morning, green tea with xylitol and a small portion of quinoa with a chicken sausage.
:cheer:

On top, while searching for a "backless" sports bra I found this amazing website with the cutest gym apparel. OMG! I don't know if we are allowed to post that info here, but if we are, I'd share. Super hot shorts and tops just, great cuts, fun colors.

Lunch:
Chicken breast and sauteed veggies in olive oil and a bit of quinoa
Green Tea with xylitol

PM Snack
NuGo Slim Brownie Crunch Powerbar
