Hi all. I haven't hit the weights for seven months now. Well, until today that is. Also, haven't touched AAS since Sept of last year (I think -- close enough for guessin'). Reason -- relapsed into boozing and got a DUI. Lost driving privileges and had to wait for a sea change in my circumstances in order to have reliable gym access.
K, now that that's outta the way, on to today's workout--
Oly squat -- ramped to 275x5
-Not unhappy here. I was concerned that my flexibility would be shite after so much idle time. But these felt pretty comfy. i'd be lying if I said that I wasn't happy with hitting 275x5 fairly easily given the circumstances. FWIW, PR is 535x1.
Bench -- ramped to 195x5
-Taking it slow, as with my squat. Not mega-easy, FWIW. But certainly not brutal. I intend to add a bit at each workout till that becomes unfeasible. Plenty of room here. I'm thinking slow and steady wins the race. PR here is 415x1.
Pendlay row -- ramped to 175x5
-This was the most... awkward lift. Not that it was esp. awkward per se, but it was the least intuitive. But I'm lovin' the feeling it left on my back. I feel like my traps have shrunk most over the course of this layoff. IMHO traps (and perhaps hamstrings) are what separate the serious lifters from the pretty boys. I've rowed 315 for a few decent reps in the past, but needed straps.
And that's that. In the coming weeks I look forward to ramping up the workload. For a brief period the workouts will be low intensity and low workload. Pretty muvh the dregs of lifting. But Rome wasn't built in a day. It'll come back soon. Looking forward to it.
