Well...it sucks, but it has to be done. This will be my third surgery on this area (L5-S1). The first two were discectomy's with the last one being done in December of 06'. Wanted to go with the minimally invasive procedure, but my doc suggested the traditional procedure (all through the back though, none through the front), because the end result would be better because he will have better access to the f'd up areas. He is with the best group in town for the spine and is very accredited, so I am in good hands.
He says there is nothing left and I could have told anyone that since I can hear and feel the vertebrae popping over one another. So, what I need to know is what are the best things that I can do post surgery in order to get back on my feet as soon as possible and back in the gym...without hurting myself.
Since my last surgery I have really bulked up size and strength wize. Got up to 220.5, but now am around 210. I know this doesnt' have to be the end of my lifting career, so I'm looking to you guys for any advice you can give. And best wishes.
Thanks!

Walking. Just movement in general. ask your surgeon about PT after surgery to help with recovery & ROM.
Are they using hardware for the fusion? if so, what kind? Plates/screws or rods?
I never knew they would go anterior for lumbar spine procedures.
Good luck and take your time with recovery. The body heals best with rest.

Go check the Anabolic board, I put the same post basically on that board cause I knew it would get more responses and views...should answer all your questions. Thanks for your concern.:)

What has your Doc said? Are you going to do PT?

Yeah. I'm doing my PT religiously. Even though it can be seriously uncomfortable at times.
