hey guys,
i went to my othropedic today. As many of you know i injured my ankle running sprints a few weeks ago. i so far kept on with my contest prep. i am 9 weeks out from my show. My dr. saw my ankle today. it is still swollen and bruised after two weeks. my dr. said that there is not serious damage but the sprain is bad. he told me that it will take me at 6 weeks to heal. i translate this into not being able to train my legs for a few more weeks. my legs are already a week part and i was hoping to actually bring them up durring this prep period. so i don't think that i will be able to compete any more. I am EXTREMELY upset about this. i don't know what to do with myself at all. I am very focused at this point. but i don't want to continue to lose wieght and diet for no reason. i guess that i just should quit my cycle now and do some cleanup and try to heal and improve myself. this is a terrible experiance for me. i don't feel that i want to quit in anyway. i am loving this whole prep experiance my body is changing and becoming hard. it is really too bad that something like this happend to me.
any comments would be welcomed.

Hey W8s,I am extremely sorry to hear this.Maybe you could work extra hard on your hamstrings and just work extensions for your quads.Even if your quads won't be as big as they could, perhaps they will be shredded and still have a great look onstage.Conditioning is the most important thing. You seem very motivated and you still have a decent amount of time.Well,we will all support whatever decision you make, but definitely give it some thought.

in 1997 i competed with a broken foot....dropped a 35 lb plate on top of it from waist level 2 weeks out, and suffered through the rest of training. every movement hurt like a bitch

Dont stop now!!! Work around the injury. It may even heal faster than the doc expects, STAY FOUCUSED and go for it. There will be ways to work your legs, just be creative and disciplined.

What show were you originally going to compete in?I think you should still do it,at least for the experience.Plus it will help you to figure out how to best peak.I'm with ya either way!

also thanks for the support gopro and others who have helped. i am sooooo stressed out about this you don't even know. i keep going back and forth with it in my head and torturing myself. last night i thought it was over and went out to dinner and had a cheat meal. i felt awful about it this morning and got right up and did my cardio as punishment on that damm rowing machine again with one leg. oh hope i hate that thing.

Hi W8s...my best advice at this point is to make a decision either way,and once you do,don't look back! /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Russian Stim to the area may help maintain and tone the area just dont turn the juice to high at first, otherwise just train it the best you can w/o aggravating the injury. train the uninjured leg balls to the wall and you will find the injured limb gets improved circulation and neurological maitenance gains will occour (about 25% according to electro-myogram tests)

i will probably be making a decision over the weekend for sure. One thing i did find was a show two weeks after the one i was training for. I am now thinking that i can back off my training for the next two weeks to let myself heal somemore and then see how i feel. i am going to get my b\f test again this weekend. i will let you guys know the results.
Hey astral. I was unaware of that. good idea. i am going to try to do something with my legs light tomorrow anyway.
