Well my stats are 5'9 at 205-8 roughly. My bf is around 16%.

I am aiming for next September to step on stage at around 185 pounds at 5% bodyfat.

My question is with my current stats do you think that it is possible to accomplish this with the proper cycles, training, diet, rest as well as mental prep?

I figure in between now and then I can get 2 more bulk cycles and a pre contest cycle in.

What do you guys/gals think?

Yeah it's totally achievable!

I would aim for 3-4% by the calipers instead. If you compete at 5% you maybe disapointed with your condition.

I can see you competing at 185-190lbs @ 3% this is in a year bro. You can change your physique dramatically.

We will do our best to guide you along the way.

Hey malike2.You can achieve almost anything you set your mind to.You have plenty of time to get into excellent contest condition.Think of training first along with proper diet and cardio, than worry about your "supplementation."Too many people rely on drugs and supps to get them in shape, when these things are secondary to training/diet/cardio.My advice is to not let yourself get too sloppy while bulking so that when you start cutting it won't be as arduous a task and you won't have to sacrifice too much muscle.Get your plan in place and follow it the best you can.Make adjustments along the way as needed.Use this board for great advice. And remember the 3 D's...discipline,desire,dedication... /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Thanks guys, thats what I needed, some reassurance that my goal is not too farfetched.

I am not going to rely on "supplementation" because I know it can lead to being a crutch to lean on.

I'm gonna start planning now.
Thanks again for the encouragement.

I've been talking to a buddy of mine and he has be thinking about doing a local show. I've never competed and am seriously working towards it. I'm dieting, learning the poses, trying to get tanned, etc. I'm 5'8" 176lbs with bodyfat around 10%. He tells me if I can get down to like 164 and go in hard I'll be ok. I just feel like I need more size and don't want to embarrass myself. Think if I can get the bodyfat down and go in hard I should go for it?

At a novice level from what I've gathered it's how ripped you are and not so much size.
If your symetrical you'll walk on stage with the illusion your carring 10 pounds more on ya.

I myself have to work on size since my symetry isn't the greatest. Maybe it is, and I just have to learn to pose properly?

I agree with malik!

I am pretty big for 5'6 but in both my shows I finished poorly because of conditioning.

The judges have told me that I can do lots of damage if I can just dial it in.

Conditionning is everything on the local level. It's more important than mass in my opinion.

My first competition in may 2000 I finished 12th out of 13 and there where only about 5 guys that had as much or more muscle than me.

Thanks for the input! I feel I have pretty good symmetry, so would just need to get into great shape for the show. I'll keep working towards it and see how things go. I can't lose anything. It is a good learning process on what it takes to compete. I am enjoying working at it too, although the dieting can suck.
