I think that I am having problems with my cortisol levels. I have a very stressful occupation,I am a divorced Mom with a jerk of an ex husband and I am training and dieting for this competition. My mid section shows this stress. I am doing some research on Cortisol but come up empty handed on a supplement(non prescription)that can help. Does anyone know of such an animal(Pharm, I know you're an animal...GRRRR) out there?
Thanks in advance,

Hi novice fbb. There is a natural supplement that can help....phosphacytlcholine(think I spelled it right?)...also known as PS.800 mg taken pre-workout and another 400mg taken upon awakening, when cortisol is naturally high, can lower levels of this devilish little hormone by as much as 30%.I use it b4 a show and it helps.Best brands?.....CORT BLOC by Musclelink,PS by Pro Source, and CORTISTAT PS by Champion.Other goods supps include vitamin c,acytl-l-carnitine,herbs like kava kava, and glutamine peptides.Good luck and tell that ex-husband to stop f'n with your hormones!!!!!! /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

also try looking into some herbs like kava kava that have been shown to have soothing effects on the CNS and create an overall feeling of well-being. MSM is also a good mood elevator, as well as being a joint and cartilage rebuilder.
I'm an animal? heheheh hell yeah!

No problem novice fbb!!!!!!!!!!!!By the way,I was having a low blood sugar moment when writing my reply.PS is the short name for phosphatidylserine, not what I said in my first post when I was low on carbs and hallucinating that I was sitting in an IHOP consuming all the pancakes and syrup I could eat.Anyway, everything else I said was correct.Sorry for the spelling error /infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

always 50-100g protein and 100g maltodextrin shake with 5g of Vitamin C post workout, the insulin response acts as a cortisol protection
DHEA
Ephedrine (dose just like fat burner)
phosphatidylserine not phosphacacacholine
zinc

Hi Nobody...yes you can see if you looked at the post b4 yours that I already corrected myself.Sometimes I type faster than my brain is working at the time.Anyway,I agree with what you said with the exception of the ephedrine which has been shown to RAISE cortisol levels.

Ephedrine actually raises both blood glucose and insulin. Most low-calorie diets can cause increased nitrogen excretion, but just the opposite happens when you add ephedrine to the low-calorie equasion. The effects are similar to those of growth hormone or people on a low-calorie diet: It makes the body rely on fat calories without sacrificing amino acids in the muscle for glucose production.
cockdezl of the elite:
Clen is mostly a beta-2 agonist, which causes an increase in thermogenesis by increasing cAMP levels in its target cells. In adipocytes, this causes a release of free fatty acid from the cell, which is then used by other cells (muscle) for energy. When free fatty acids increase in the blood, there is a decrease in insulin sensitivity. This decrease is anti-catabolic since it is protective against catabolism of muscle tissue for energy.
Same can be said for ephedrine

Mr Nobody.I have read conflicting studies on cortisol and ephedrine. However,it does seem that clen is anti-catabolic,hence its use at the end of some steroid cycles to help control this nasty hormone.
