Can someone tell me if I load pre contest with oatmeal only (vs. yams, potatos, brown rice, etc.) what effect might it have on my physique. I was considerng starting carbup wed. or THurs before sat. show. Im 5'7, 196, aprrox. 6.5-7%. This week Ive had low carb around 75g, about 350g protein, 30 fat. Willie...carbing up is such an individual thing.I have seen people have success carbing up on fruit,potatoes,rice,pasta,even doughnuts.Personally I don't think you should introduce any carbs into your system that you haven't been eating on a regular basis b/c you will not know how your body might react.Generally,I like carbs that carry some water with them like rice,pasta,and oatmeal b/c you need some water to get the carbs into your muscles.The truth is,if you ask 100 competitors how they carb up,you will probably get 100 different answers.Your answer will come with experience and experimentation.I don't think you can do yourself any harm with oatmeal though.
