Have you ever changed gyms and your numbers thrown off because of different companies made the weights or an effect of them being bumper plates?

I train at two gyms regularily and notice a diference. Not sure if the weights are lighter at the work gym but I always have beter workouts there. Always that bit stronger. This may have to do with the routine im in at work and the gym which gets thrown out when im at home on break though.
I do notice diferent bars change things. More flex or thicker bars.

yes, I went to a gym that had rubber plates, it was the first place I hit 3 plates on the bench. At the old place with Ivanko plates I was only doing 275. Then I went to a gold's that had the plates with the 5 holes in it...felt extremely heavy. Go figure.

I used to travel a lot on business and noticed this quite a bit. Some plates in some gyms are light. I noticed a big difference in bars too. Some are skinny and light with way too much flex. Some are so knurled they rip your hands on heavy deads. I don't travel now but I don't like the rubber coated weights at the LA Fitness because you can only put nine per side on a standard bar for high rack pulls. Uncoated plates allow ten.

Definitely. I've even noticed a difference in plates within the same manufacturer. Not uncommon at all. I'm assuming that's the reason calibrated plates are so damn expensive.

Yea I agree G-Rex about the calibrated weights. I recently have changed the locations I train now, I use my school gym and I have to use bumper plates now, and my deadlift numbers have gone down, but when I use the regular iron my bench, squat and military are just fine.

YES! Rubber dumbells seems to be lighter for me, but rubber plates seem heavier!
