How far above contest weight does everyone go during the "off season". I use that term loosely as there is no off season. I guess we'll call it bulking though I use that term loosely as well.

Hey Beezers.I used to gain as much as 40 extra lbs in the "offseason"Now I try and stay w/n 15 lbs of show weight. This strategy makes getting ready for shows much easier and keeps the skin tighter.I do believe, however, that at least once in your lifting career you should bulk to as big a weight as possible(preferably when you are still in your 20s).I think this will stretch the fascia around your muscles leaving them plenty of space to grow. Also,it will allow you to handle higher poundages than you ever could which will help to break psychological lifting barriers. Then when you drop back to a more reasonable body weight you will still mentally believe you can handle the same weights...and you will.

i am 215 right now, and at my last show i weighed in at 193....22 lbs, but i'm usually 5-10 lbs heavier than now...so actually i'm usually 25-30 lbs above contest weight

take care,
