Oh for the love of God...I better keep up on this log!!! :D
7 weeks until my next SWM Comp
9 weeks until VEGAS!!
Almost through week one of the meal plan. I've already started to see the outline of my abs once again, and it has seriously motivated me to keep going.
I'm training 3 days/wk in the gym with Saturday as event day. Becauase the next comp is only 7 weeks away, I'm going to focus primarily on the competition events.
Strength is good (despite taking a month or so off from the gym) and my motivation is definitely high. I am strongly considering doing the PL meet in July with TD and BigMac. Not 100% sure yet since my squat sucks and I haven't benched...EVER (Jaleena and Pix, feel free to join the BigMac bandwagon and convince me to do it!!!).
I'll start posting my training with tomorrow's session...I must say, I'm happy to be logging once again

Oh, do it, do it, do it!! Just go there and have fun, even if all you do is bench the bar (which I know you'll do more). Train for it, get some experience and it'll open doors for more things to do. Plus, each sport will strengthen the other.
If you need pointers, shoot me a PM. G-Rex and I will do our best to help out.

WOOHOO! Thanks BSG!
I'm only good for a :cheer:
And maybe answering whatever questions you have when you try out a bench. I'm better at doing than teaching, but we're close in size, so I might be of use :)
Thanks, J! Benching scares me!

Quick workout on Friday....
BB Complexes...Used 75# 3 sets
Superset
Hanging leg raises 20x3
Planks (not sure on the time) x3
Swiss Ball Rollouts
15x3
Saturday Events
Farmers
70x100' x 4
70x200' x 1
120x100' x4
Stones
110 to 50" x 3
125 to 50" x 2
155 to 50" 4 attempts but no load
175 lapped and stood up but no load
Felt great today. I should have lowered the yoke a bit, but didn't. I was happy that I got the 175...it was SO close but I just couldn't get it over the bar.
Hosting Easter at our house tomorrow, but I've got my meal plan all set and am not planning to go off the script! Looking forward to Monday's workout!

As it does for everyone, life has gotten in the way of my logging once again. BUT, I have decided to log at least once a week, if not after every workout.
I trained events Sunday this week rather than Saturday and went to our "old" place...which is a little over an hour drive each way.
When I got there, they were just finishing up farmers and setting up the harness to pull Joe's pickup. the are hosting a small comp in late May (the day after I compete at badass) and have a truck pull in the event lineup. They wanted to see how everyone did with it.
Farmers
130x100x2
140x100x2
140x50 (to put them away, but heck, I'm going to count it!)
Truck Pull (just an old pickup)
Not sure of the weight, but it was on a slight incline (which sucked!!)
40'
50'
Stones
There's a little story here...these stones have ZERO tacky on them, are dusty, and sit outside in the elements all year. After having heavy rain during the last week or so, these bad boys were like cement sponges. Rather than risk injuring myself, I stuck to the 110 and did stone squats :)
I managed to do about 5 or 6 before quitting!
Since most of the guys at Joe's are powerlifters, I decided to ask them for some coaching with my bench (that I have never done before). So we started with technique and the bar. It felt a bit awkward, but eh...
Bench
95x3
95x2
95x1
115x0 missed it.
In between bench sets, I did some skull crushers to work on my tris.
12#x15x3
15#x10x1
My arms were jelly...
I decided that I'm not really a bench kind of girl and I already know I HATE to squat. So....there lies my decision not to do the meet in July with BigMac and TD.
Anyway...diet is going GREAT. Couldn't be happier with the results thus far. TD is modifying my gym routine a bit and I'll be going gangbusters this week :)
More to come!
Great work on events AND learning to bench. Even if you don't want to powerlift, it never hurt anyone to bench. It's kinda like buying new shoes, that never hurt anyone either.
I'm happy you love SM so much and it makes you tick. You are a little fire ball and I love winding you up and watching you go :)

LOL! The shoe thing is in our genetic makeup! You certainly have the right perspective...it definitely does have a benfit for our men...who doesn't want a hot chick in a smokin pair of shoes???
Nice to see you logging again! :)
Thanks, Tweak! So glad you stopped by :)
I know if Pete is lurking, I'm in trouble for this BUT...
The scale registered at 139 today...it's the first time I have seen the 130's since before I had my son 2 years ago. Although I am not a scale junkie (thanks to Pete), I do need to stay under 140 to compete as a LW. That being said, I would like to be in the low 130's for my Vegas trip in June. To be a hot bod in a bikini by the pool in Vegas is my goal!

Well based on what I see in your avi - the only thing thats missing is bikini and the pool in vegas. Hot bod - check! :)
i don't have any problem with the scale when it serves a purpose - you're trying to make a weight class, so it's a critical point of information. Where I disslike it, is when someone is trying to acheive a visual goal, but using a weight measurement. Most, although they like to define their progress based on a number on the scale, are really looking for a visual result. Make sure that when you define your true goals, the tools by which you measure your progress towards them are valid, thats all.

Phew! I was a bit nervous clicking "Post Reply" :D Any time I step on the scale (which isn't that often) I have the pete voice in my head saying "no scale!!!" LOL!!
I am trying to get from "hot bod" to "smokin hot bod" ! So I need the pool, Vegas, and the "smokin'" part! LOL!!

Saturday 4/17/10
Woke up with a killer headache on Saturday, so rather than train events, I hit the gym for a "regular" workout...
15 mins elliptical
For the first time in forever, I didn't follow a routine...I just did a mish mosh (is that even a phrase??) workout. It wasn't terrible, but I kinda needed a day to just do "whatever". My head felt terrible, but at least I got something done!
Pressing - hack squat machine
90x8x3
110x8x2
BB complexes 75#
Hammer Curls 25#
2x10
1x8
Superset
Hanging Leg Raises 25x3
Planks ?x3
25 min tanning bed snooze...gotta catch a tan for Vegas!!
Sunday 4/18/10

Elliptical just under 40 mins

25 min tanning bed snooze. When I woke up the gym was closed...thank god they remembered I was downstairs!!

Monday training:
Hit the gym with TD after work...it's not too often that we get to train together, so I figured I would deadlift since he was there to coach me :D
Deadlift
135x3
155x3
185x3
225x1
245x1
I was going to go for 265 since my max to this point is 255. TD said, why not go 275? So I figured what the heck!
275x1 PR (20lbs)
It wasn't quiet to say the least...I think I grunted louder than most of the men at the gym LOL!! I had no issues off the floor, but it was a grinder at the top to lock it out. TD suggested doing some rack pulls since it seems like my weakness is at the top. I know what's going to be in my next training plan!
Superset x3
Hanging Leg Raises x25
Planks
Elliptical (sprint/steady)
15 mins 30:60
15 mins steady
25 minute tanning bed snooze...my favorite part of my workout!
Today is an off day for me. Too much running around, and Tuesday is our weekly get together with our neighbors. Back at it tomorrow!

AAAAAGGGGHHHH!!
Ok, ok...I'm here!!
I don't remember where I left off, and didn't go back and read before I posted this so I'll just pick up with last night's workout :)
Overhead work
BB Military Press

65x10x2
85x8x1 (switched to push press)

110x5x1
Laterals 15#db
3x8
Superset 5x3
Face pulls
Straight arm lat pull downs
Superset x3
Cable curls
Tri push downs
These were kinda funny...there was a kid doing cable curls and I needed the cable and the bar...so I asked if I could work in. He said yes and looked at me with a smirk when I changed the weight. So I thought, ok, does he think I can't do it? So I did my set and went back over to the other side to wait for my next set. I saw him in the mirror start his next set...he did one rep and stopped...then lowered the weight and finished LOL!! By the time I was ready to do my next set, he was gone!
Superset x3
Hanging leg raises x25
Planks
Elliptical
20 mins level 7 steady
25 minute snooze with my friend, the tanniing bed :D

if you put push press first, work 2-3 sets in the 2-4 range, it won't be enough to tire you out for you pressing work after, will be enough to practice the co-ordination needed for the PP, and work to potentiate your nervous system so that it's firing much more effectivly when you move to train OHP.

TD and I went to a killer party at a nightclub on Friday night. Our good friend is a pro DJ and we've had this planned for weeks. I was hunting around for an outfit foever (it had to be white, to fit the theme of the party), and I finally found one on Thursday. It was a short, shorts jumpsuit. I haven't worn shorts since I was about 10. I actually felt great in it and we had a blast! What was even better, was that I had the hottest guy in the place!! :D

Some great stories from Friday. My wife looked amazing, and acted the part as well. My favorite part was when the nerdy guy had his friend ask her to dance....she said yes but no touching because my husband is over there......he looked over at me and turned down the dance.
Another winner is when she asked the bouncer is he was single!
I am sure I am not doing the stories justice...... maybe CC can fill in the blanks
ChopperChick
05-04-2010, 12:29 PM
LOL!! they are much funnier to hear in person, but the nerdy guy was so scared to dance with me once he saw TD. Poor guy could barely speak!
TD told me it was mean, but I did ask the cute bouncer if he was single, when he said yes I said - oh, ok...well I'm not but it's always nice to have a cute single guy in mind in case any of my friends are looking. :D

I did skip my workout on Friday...TD and I went to NY to a taping of the Rachael Ray show. He was a trooper, although the audience before us all received blu ray players - we received $200 in gift cards for lingerie LOL!!
Saturday Events
Started out with what I thought were 55# farmers handles for warm up...They were actually 70#
Farmers
70#
100'x3
Added 50# and couldn't figure out why 105# felt so heavy...it was 120. I didn't have 10's that fit on the cylinders, so I figured I would just up the reps instead of doing my workout with what I thought would be 150# (really would have been 165)
Farmers
120#
100'x6
150'x2
200'x1
Simulated Power Stairs (loaded to a tire)
85#x5
100#x5
Stones
Used 205 for reps on my deadlift last week for 8, so my back was still a bit sore. After running like a maniac with the farmers handles I took it easy on the stones. My stone work is best when I haven't done them for a month...considering my comp is in 2 weeks, I decided to rep the 120 rather than go 175.
120x8
155x2
Had a phenominal mother's day on Sunday...nice and relaxing. TD and the kids treated me like a queen...it was quite nice!
Monday workout
Pulldowns
65x10
75x10
85x8x2
Seated Rows
60x10
70x10
80x8x2
Hanging Leg Raises
25x2
Planks
x2
Cable Curls
30x10x2
Drop Set
35x6
25x10
15x20
Elliptical
Level 6 25min Steady

Thanks so much, guys!!
Saturday wasn't my best performance. I have let other things get in the way of my training and I felt it on Saturday. There were 3 competitors including me...one HW and one that was at least a MW.
I didn't let anything go without a fight. The viking press was 130, but I had never trained it before. I think if I had, I would have been fine.
Conan's wheel was next. I have never used or even seen one. Shame on me. it was 300# and I think I got 60'
The next was a 450 tire for 5 flips and a 125 power stair (x2). I've flipped my tires in my back yard without issue...I did train the power stair load because that was an unknown for me. I only got 3 flips of the tire before running out of time.
Farmers was a breeze...125 for 60'
The stone run was 150, 175, 190, 200, 220. I knew loading the 150 stone to 50" was going to be a challenge...not the stone, but the load. I really wanted to get to the 190, but it wasn't in the cards.
Soooooo, I got 3rd out of 3. Had a great day cheering on my competitors and other members from the training crew.
TD and I had to pretty much run an amateur contest on Sunday. It was being put on by the old crew we used to train with. It was a great day out in the sun. On our way home, I got a call that my gram passed away so we headed straight to her house. It's been quite an emotional week!! Oh, and my little man started "school" yesterday...I'm looking foward to getting through this week and hitting the training in full force again after the weekend.
thanks for all the support my AF family :D
