How did I do?

In my opinion pretty good. If you look at the numbers then it looks bad /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I finished fourth out of four competitors.

My class, the middleweights, was the hardest class. Before we went onstage the mc told us to put on a good show because we where the only class with everyone looking good and able to make the audience scream. He also said it would be a very hard class to judge.

Two judges had me 2nd and one had me 3rd while the rest had me 4th.

Even the winner had some 3rd place votes from judges.

By the way the class winner was RoNiN from Elite Fitness, very nice guy, he also won the overall.

I am not disapointed because

1) the other guys that beat me looked great
2) I looked the best I have ever looked on that day
3) Judges, The show MC, Higher Level competitors and even competitors in my class told me I looked massive, symetrical and full and have great potential. The only thing lacking was a little condition.

The judges told me I could have won the overall and that show easy if I would have been in shape. That is enough to motivate me for next time /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Some people told me I could win any show I enter if I can get shreded. About 1-2% more lean.

I was the biggest guy in the show mass wise. I weighed in at a very depleted 173lbs @ 5'6.

The winner RoNiN was 170lbs but 5'10. The other guys in my class where 165lbs and taller than me.

I am getting the developped pics tonight and may post a couple tomorrow. Actually I have to post atleat one I owe you guys that much...

If it's not hard it's not worth doing...

Congrats Drexx. You're a winner when you realize that you were the best you could be on the day, that you looked great, and that you're gonna look even better next time. That's what a true winner is. Well done.

You look great, much bigger than me, that's for sure. I'm 172 @ 5'7", around 8-9%. Definitely an inspiration.

To see the pics I had to right click on the 'x', go to properties, then copy and paste the url into the address window of my browser.

Very Nice.. If your condition holds try to hit another show ASAP..Middle weights is ALWAYS the roughest, And 9 out of ten times the middle weight wins the overall. You are far from peaking (potential wise), so if you choose to go that route you should do very well in the years to come.

Good Job

I may have a show in mind. hehehe

It's 20 weeks away on Oct 20.

I just wont tell the girlfriend right now /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I have stopped my junk food binge now and I am back to maintenance eating. I have put on a little fat but haven't done too much damage.

I won't eat for bulk anymore. I figure if I can maintain below 7-8% bodyfat for the first 8 weeks and then take the next 12 weeks to lose the fat I should be pretty much ready.

Right now I will eat around 2700cals per day with a calorie ratio of 33/33/33

So 225g Prot, 225g Carbs, 100g Fats per day split in 6 meals.

I will try to stick to basic wholesome foods.

I will be doing cardio 3 times per week at 30min during this maintain phase and I will workout 4 times per week.

Do you think this plan is a good plan to maintain a low bodyfat?

If it's not hard it's not worth doing...

Can you give us your measurements? I never really thought about competing, but you may have inspired me. I have a very similar build, just a tad smaller than you. You definitely have me on legs. If you were the biggest one there I'm probably not too far away from the other guys. It's hard to judge just by pics though.

What kind of prizes do you get if you win? It would have to be something pretty good for me to get up in front of a crowd in those posing trunks!

Anyway, I just wanted to see how much of a difference there is in our stats. So, if you don't mind.

At school they will check your bf for free, I just had it done today. The girl said I didn't need to take my shirt off, that she would measure it and subtract it from my reading, but I don't think she did. She kept making me feel good, saying it's gonna be hard to do on me, asked me if I was relaxing my tri, and I was, stuff like that. Then she hits me with 10.5%. Not horrible I guess, but I thought it was a little lower.

if you're lucky, you'll get a plastic piece of shit trophy with a plasic piece of shit plaque glued on the front of it describing what show it was, your weight division, and what place the trophy stands for.

as true competitors, we don't give a flying fuck what trophy or prize is given out that day...most of us just want to win it /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

just warning you bro....don't be shocked if you don't get anything besides a handful of compliments from your show and a complimentary protein bar or 2. LOL

the biggest thing you walk away from the show with is a sense of accomplishment and pride in the fact that you've done something so difficult....remember, only a very few % of the lifting community ever competes in a BBing show, let alone place in the top 3.

i recommend that if you have a curiosity about competing, go and watch a few shows before you decide to compete, then pick a very small show, but that is still put on by experienced promoters. your best bet is an NPC show. Give yourself a good amount of time to prepare (at least 20 weeks) and talk to as many local BBers as you can. And post on this side of the board once you decide to go for it. There's a wealth of knowledge here and we're always willing to help you out!

i hope you decide to compete! /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

PA

Good showing Drexx. I think with your attitude and genetics, you could go far. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Overall you have a good physique, nice muscle shape (genetics), good mass, all you needed was to be leaner to move up in the placings. I noticed that you have good calves and rear delts...two things that are usually lacking on amateur bodybuilders.

Sorry for the late comments...I was out of the country, which is also why I couldn't see the show.

nahanrac:

Here is an idea of my stats.

I am 5'6"

On contest day I was 173lbs and by the stupid caliper it said I was 4.2% bodyfat, even though my leg skinfold was 9.5mm /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

The way I read on a caliper I will have to aim for 2% bodyfat next contest /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Contest day...

Arms 16.25" inches
Legs 24.5" inches
Calves 16.25" inches
Waist 31" inches

Offseason...

204lbs @ 14% bodyfat

Arms 17.5" inches
Legs 26.5" inches
Calves 17.25" inches
Waist 34-36 inches

Lifts...

Deadlift 405lbs for 11 reps
Full Squat 315lbs for 8-9 reps
Incline Bench 225 for 8-9 reps

If it's not hard it's not worth doing...

Thanks for the comments ontariowrestler!

I appreciate it.

Next contest I will start dieting 16 weeks in advance and I won't get as fat offseason.

I feel this year I didn't screw up in my contest prep. I screwed up offseason by 12 weeks out I was 12% bodyfat so it was mission impossible from there on.

Next time it will be more gradual and I will keep more muscle.

If it's not hard it's not worth doing...

Here is a pic I found on the net of my weight class. No need to hide the face it's all blury.

Ronin is the guy with the blue posing trunks beside me. He looked great.

Now that I see this pic I know why I finished fourth /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

From that picture I can see that if you had been leaner, you could have taken that class. You are about equal in upper body mass, and have the best leg mass by far! I feel your body has better overall balance because of it.

It's hard to judge with one photo, but I would have placed you higher (and I am not just saying that). I always give higher placings to a balanced physique over lean. ie Guy in black trunks has no legs!

By the way, I like your measurements. It's not too often that calves=biceps like they should.
