So, I am cruising along making gains on the main 3 and getting back into form after the groin tear last June and BAM! I tore my right quad last night. What is so shocking is I was using weight that I use every few weeks. I was planning 3x3 with 405, having worked up with 135x10x2, 225x10, 275x5, 315 and 365x3. Son of a gun let go about 1/3 of the way up and I had to shift most of the weight to the left leg to get it up and racked. At first it felt like I might have strained it good, but after a few minutes I could tell it was a tear.

I am still shaking my head as I type this. This is the 3rd major setback in less than a year. I am not taking insane amounts of anything. Had been running 600 T and 300 NPP which I dropped for 35ED Tren about 3 weeks ago.

Since Jan I lost a % or 2 of BF and have been hitting AM cardio a couple times a week as I have to pass the MIL physical as I am heading to First Sgt School this year and they straight up expect us to run a couple miles regularly. Not my specialty, so I been running a bit and using the cross trainers and steppers.

If I had any endurance I would train for a mini-tri with my wife. You know I am close to out of my mind if I am thinking about any form of distance swimming or running!

Well, enough of my whining. Time to call the PT and schedule some sessions next week to get the scar tissue behaving!

Welcome to my life!
Where is the quad strain located?
A form of massage called pump massage (at least that is what it was called when I learned it) is really good for quads and hams to break up and re-align scar tissue.

BSG... sorry to hear about the tear bro. I know how frustrting it can be... I've had 3 injuries in the last 18 months. Hope you get better soon.

And, way cool on the First Sgt School... much respect to you my brother.

Sorry for your set-back, BSG. I can't even fault your warmups and weight increases. Your jumps are a shade larger than I usually take but I could have done pretty much the same on any given workout.

Get well soon.

Killer- Right Quad. horizontally: 1/2 way from center to outside. Verticle: from 3" above the knee to about 6 inches below the outer hip. So the nerves are super sensitive for about 3-4 inches horizontal and 6 inches verticle in the meat of the outer section of quad.

Thanks for all the well wishes...If you need me I will be in the pool learning to swim properly :)

Dang! Sorry to read that, BSG. From what I could glean form your workouts I'dve thought you'd be bullet proof to injuries now. Good luck healing up.

And definitely, congrats on the First Sgt course. Much respect.

Let us know what the PT is having you do. The area you described would work well with pump massage too, but it will depend on your PT rehab. Pump massage can be done EOD for 3 - 5 minutes.

Ugh, BSG....you were doing so well! But if anything, you should be really motivated to rehab well since you have a PL meet in your future :)

Sometimes I just don't get how the game works: I finally rehab both my shoulders only to have both my hips fall apart. What can you do but roll with the punches....or should I say tears and pulls?

Did you and G go shopping for speedos together???

Will let you know the plan Killer. With my groin they wanted a 5-minute session a day with directional massage as deep as I could stand. We eventually got to the point of using a rolling pin to get enough force into the area to break up the deep scarring.

They couldn't get me into the guy I wanted till this Thurs and I had a soccer coaching course this weekend and was on my feet for 16 hours. End result is there are times when my thigh aches to the bone. I rode bike a couple times and am getting to where I can go down stairs without looking like a complete gimp.

I have no idea what triggered this P...baffling to me! Setup was easy and everything was smooth till I was part way out of the hole.

No speedos yet as I am just working out of my winter 15% + BF. It would not be a pretty sight to see!

We are however going to the Max Muscle NPC show in Missoula this weekend to cheer on some friends! Looking forward to it!

Thanks for the well wishes Odoyal!

Think of it as an opportunity to concentrate on your show muscles heh...

Damage is to the rectus femoris, deep in the thigh. 12 degree loss of motion due to the internal swelling. We did electrostim Thurs to try to move the fluids out while using a coldpack to numb the surface. I get to ride bike 10 min EOD and back for more electrostim Tues. Today I finally got bruising to the surface...12 days after the injury and 2 days after the electrostim.

2 more trips with electrostim and more bruising finally made it to the surface. This injury is 5 times worse than the groin! I still can't lay on my stomach.

He still won't give me permission to do more than 10 minutes of biking at moderate....damn if I can keep it that. Nothing drastic but I have been doing some work arounds that use the legs as stabilizers. Strict Press, Shrugs etc and it has held up well, no real pain from using the leg this way.

Damn BSG... take care and heal up. Positive vibes coming to you from the east coast.

Heal Quick, but Don't Push Too Hard. G/F had quad tear last year, in the belly of the muscle (rare location) and she definitely had to be patient with a return to full distance running and high impact activities.

Congrats on 1st Sgt School
