:schoolkids: Other than being on an empty stomach and a little groggy, is there anything wrong with lifting in the early morning??

Do you feel more energized during the day or you zone out?? From the northwest I see?? I'm from the 425
Same as jaleena says, have some sort of pre during and post workout. Other than that I think it all depends on who it is. Others train better in mornings, others at night and other midday. But if you need to get in in the morning then by all means. I would suggest getting to bed early. I like to have atleast one hour awake before I go workout.

I have been going in the mornings lately and am still getting used to it, I love going home for a nap after the workout if I have time  cause I feel a bit drained after the workout but if I cant its not a problem.

AM traning - two challenges here - both can be rectified by getting up very early, which may be prohibitive.
First - you don't want to train on an empty stomach, but you also don't want to get bogged down by food. So you would need to get up early enough to get enough cals in to support a training session, but leave enough time for digestion so that you dont feel sick.
The second challenge is that your joints, primarily your back, just isn't as stable first thing in the mornig. All you discs hydrate over night and this increases the instability in you spine. As you walk around, gravity and your body weight compress the discs, squeezing out excess water, increasing stability. Your nervous system is also sleepy in the morning, but this is less of a concern, as it will adjust fairly quickly.

right on brutha WA is B-E-A-utiful.
As for the trainning I dont get any energy from it, Its just with my work hours and gym hours I have not other option, in 5 months I will be going to a diff gym with hours catering to me, I put on 65lbs my first year training when i was 18 years old and that was night time lifting then straight to sleep after a PWO meal for recovery. (and all natural except for creatine)

I've done it, but with some kind of calories before/during, and then after. I'll be a little weaker, have a little more of a problem with panting like I'm dying between sets...but then later in the day I'm okay. Not energized by any means, but it's not like I got hit by the zombie truck. Because of the early calories, it does add some challenge to dieting that I don't appreciate.

I workout in the AM for the most part.
I take 10g BCAA's + EC stack 45 mins before and I never seem to have a problem with energy/drive.

Cardio in the AM, weights in the afternoon or at night. I can't for the life of my weight train in the morning. I've tried it countless times and I have had horrible workouts every time.

Did it for the last year of law school and while studying for the bar exam....I made a ton of hard boiled eggs each week, and choked them down as I was throwing on clothes, walking out the door, waiting for the bus, etc. Had no issues eating and then lifting b/c bus was 35 minute ride to gym.
Now I don't have to go in the AM, and can't for the life of me, make myself.
I like to go in and work movements in the AM and then load in the PM. I can get away w/ a protien shake w/ some oats in it just fine.

the times ive been able to do it i find a morning lift session is the balls. sets yr day off right with confidence and gets yr body ready for work and the day ahead. wakes ya right up.
slam a shake n some simple sugars, maybe some pb in there for slow burning energy and/or some oats and your good to go.
my adrenaline seems to be unbelievable in am workouts. starts slow but once u get rollin its awesome.
one major reason imo is because yr head is completely clear and free of all the stress and mental rundown a day can cause if you hit the gym later on. morning lifting avoids all of this, i find im so focused and totally enveloped by the workout.

I do mornings mainly because of my schedule, and my body has been primed early on for it (thanks to uncle sam). I also get up an hour and a half early to eat and such, get my coffee, arginine and N.O. going. Then when I get there it's on! I do find that if I have to miss a morning workout and hit it in the evening that I am considerably stronger, and that's mainly due to fueling the body and hydration during the day. Either way, I'm still growing, gettin bigger and stronger, so if it works for ya, do it. I will say one thing, if you're not used to it, it will take a minute to adjust, just give it time.
