Test-daddy's Cutting Log
Life seems to be giving me cues to drop some weight.
*First I was diagnosed with High blood pressure. Solution? Lose weight.
*I've had sleep apnea for a while and my new doc wants me to explore the option of losing weight before sugrey or a cpap(I can't really use one)
* I found some pics of me around 6-8% BF, and wanted myself. :)
* I think I can do some serious damage in the 265 class in the NAS.
Goals
Cut down to 265 for a competition on 6-19. I need to get in the low 270’s then drop water.
Spend 4 days in Vegas in early June half naked showing off my lean physique. I planned to start cutting on 3-15 but we booked this trip today and I don’t want to miss a day.
Hold current strength levels
Current stats
I am about 295 now, and maybe in the upper teens for BF%. I would love to see 10% by 6-1. I was up to 312, and dropped back down by basically not force feeding myself anymore.
I have a heavy show on 3-13, so I don’t want to drop cals too much until after thats completed. I’ll be competing once per month after that(lighter shows for the most part) so that will make the calorie restriction interesting.
Diet
I am going to target marcos in the 50/30/20 range, and calories in the 3500-4000 range with carb ups on Fridays. I should be able to grab some quick fat loss with that, and then if it slows I may turn to a Body Opus type plan. Here is the guideline to start:
Training days
M1-Protein shake with 2 scoop peanut butter
M2 4 whole eggs 1 cup veggies
M3 12 oz lean meat 1 cup veggies
M4 1 piece fruit.
Workout
PWO shake
M5 12 oz lean meat 1 cup veggies
M6 2 oz mixed nuts, raw veggies,1 oz light cheese
Non Training days
M1-4 whole eggs 1 cup veggies
M2 1 oz mixed nuts raw veggies
M3 12 oz lean meat 1 cup veggies
M4 Protein shake
M5 12 oz lean meat 1 cup veggies
M6 1 oz mixed nuts,raw veggies,1 oz light cheese
The cals come in more like 3k but I like to have some wiggle room. I'll throw some olive oil on things and grab a scoop of ANPB when I need a snack. I'll track cals and see if its enough!
Training
This will be fun. I am going to change my gym training over to a more BB type routine. I want to refine my physique a bit and the bottom line is I won’t have the cals in my system to be beating the hell out of myself day in and day out. Again I’ll carb up for event days and go hard and heavy on them.
Supps
500 test ew
200 NPP ew
3 pumps AIFM daily
4 fish oil caps per day
6 fiber caps per day.
2 caps per day of mystery AAS. I made up some 50mgs var caps,some 25mgs winny caps, and some .5g CEE caps and forgot what was what. So I am going to take 2 per day. Dunno how much it will help but it won't hurt either.
I'll add some tren and real winny in when I am leaner. Maybe 6 weeks out from the trip.
I'll be posting my diet and training plan over the next couple days and maybe a before shot or 2.

Yes 20 singles. I'd say about 10s between reps. I wanted to do them fast(bar speed)with perfect form. It actually seemed more challenging that way vs. doing a 20 repish set. I kept wanting to knock out a few at a time.
In any event I was feeling it towards the end of the set!

So my cutting log just turned into a cutting/first powerlifting meet log. I am doing my first meet on 7-24 at Europa with a couple other board members. I'll let them break there own news. Anyway I intend to compete Raw @275 and its a IPA meet. I using this as a chance to get my feet wet. I found a great training crew to help me learn the game. I am excited!
The interesting thing here is that I have not benched or back squatted in months. My raw bench from years ago with no pause was 515. I got under the bar 2 weeks in a row in mid summer and hit 440. I am not worried here, 450 should be very doable without pulling my hair out.
Squat is a different story. I hit 495x5 slightly high 6 months ago, but to be honest I never feel comfortable under the bar. I don't even like my stance. Hopefully the guys in the crew can help me. I feel like I should be hitting 600 but doubt I could hit 500 now.
Deads I am excited about. Hopefully I'll get some coaching and find some extra lbs that I've left on the table!

First PL meet too... nice. You've got a great natural bench and I know your deads are great too. Your squat must just be technique... you are too strong to only have a 5 plate squat to depth. I'm thinking working with the PLers will fix that.

With those numbers, you'd probably be close to being an Elite raw lifter. You are not weak.

Thanks RW. This PL stuff is fun! I think once I start squatting again and get some form tips my squat has to come up. I switched to fronts some time ago and never looked back. I am excited to see what happens here.

I got second at Viking Fest and qualified for Nationals! :D
Now the cutting begins.....I weighed 308 fully dressed at the show. This is up from a low of 292 a coupel weeks ago. I have to think its mostly bloat from carbing up and drinking so much water.....

Yeah I am getting some heat from my strongman training crew for doing the PL instead but its all good. I should make 275 by then easy. Full meet Europa should be a blast.....

No training yet but I have been following the diet well and I weighed 296 this morning.
more than likely the sleep apnoea is causing the blood pressure issues... you should use CPAP while you loose the weight, see how you go. If your AHI is significant ( >30) then you'll benefit in many more ways from using the treatment while dieting/training. Your whole body will be running more smoothly.

Back to the grind and boy does it feel good. BW is 294 and change. I felt like a bull at the gym super strong and looked like a monster. I look far bigger at 294 than at 312! I can't wait to see 275!!!!!!!

Bit of a mixed bag here. BW has not budged...although I have not started cardio yet. I am seeing visual cues so I am going to stay the course. I hate using the scale but the whole point here is to drop a weight class. I killed the first part of my workout....then fell aprart like a sissy for the second half. Based on recovery and timing I've decided reorganize training into a lower body day and 2 upper days. On lower day one week will focus on DL, and the next squat.

I have not really ever squatted true PL style so I thought I would give it a shot. It felt OK but the inside of my quads and hams took a beating. I really wanted to play with set up with a non threatening weight.So I did:

On the last set my hams started to cramp so I shut it down and drank some water. Not the workout I wanted but I got a PR and lived to fight another day. I do have a PL crew to train with but I want to try it a few weeks on my own to at least know what questions to ask and hopefully condition myself a bit better for squatting. Decent events day…although I am pretty banged up for such a low volume day. I carbed up from mid day Friday, and I was anxious to see how my strength was. All in all it felt good, although I ran out of time and my knee was feeling pretty bad.

Thanks Guys! I switched to a true keto diet after being so miserable last week. I am feeling pretty good about that. I also switched to 75mgs of tren/25mgs of proped along with 400 EQ weekly. I look like a beast but the tren is sending my BP through the roof, and my breathing is labored. I may have to drop it and finally cross tren off my list.
So I had my last carbs at dinner Sat…although I did have 1 or 4 martini’s Sunday night. I felt like I hit ketosis Monday afternoon, and weighed 291 today. Energy levels feel much better. My workout was horrible because of being overly sore from events and having a massive headache. I did:

BW 287 no carbs for 3 days
So last week was my first session back squatting in at least 6 months. This week I wanted to get a handle on where I am now. Kind of a baseline. I hit some decent numbers for my second time out but it became very clear I dunno WTF I am doing. I think my bar placement is too high and my stance off. That said once these little things are fixed my numbers should come way up.

Wow TD, not sure how I missed this log before but this is great!!! Thanks for sharing!! Tren is brutal, I had the same exp with it back in the day, EQ gave me a ton of stam but doesnt do much good if you cant breath from the tren, that shit scares me. EQ/var on the other hand, I'd put that in my protien shakes if I could LOL!! How tall are you??

Le dead fish for now. Its worked so far! I'll work up to 405ish maybe for a triple next week, then go for a heavy single(450?) the week after. Once I start with the PL crew they can help me with a set up.

Just a quick update here. I weighed 285 friday morning but felt pretty crappy. I skipped Fridays depletion workout and started my carb up earlier than planned. I felt OK for Saturday events but still a bit dehydrated and my knees really hurt. I decided to take it easy and just did the following

Bodyweight is 285 which is about where I expected to be at this point. Energy is very low, I may need to take a week off and eat "normal". This is my third week of low carbs. This is heavy DL light squat week.

I've decided not to do the strongman contest in late May and focus on dieting down and prepping for the PL meet. As such I thought it would be a great idea to bench since I have not since fall 2009. Hell I don't even train pecs. I've never benched with a pause and I have no set up at all so I was unsure what to expect. I am very happy with my first outting. Who knows what I'll hit with a set up and some training!

Thanks for the support everyone! It really does mean a lot especially now when my calories are really limited. Its getting harder and harder to get motivated for big lifts but I love what I see in the mirror!

Less than Stellar squat day
I took at shot to the shin last Thursday from a softball thrown from the outfield. It was so bad at one point I could barely walk. It felt OK yesterday so I decided to squat and pull as scheduled. My energy was good all day and I was a bit agitated so I looked forward to smashing some squats. Don't you know that once I got to the gym my energy went to crap? Oh well!

I went in Saturday for some back and bi’s instead of event training. After 5 martini’s the night before it was not my most stellar W/O but I got it in.
Workout

I had a couple this epiphany’s weekend. I am real close to being in the best shape of my life. I found a pair of jeans that I loved in the laundry room, still dirty from the last time I wore them 4 years ago. They are 36/34…..I’ve still got jeans in my closet that are 42’s. I washed and dried them, and what do you know! A bit tight on the quads but a full size too big on the waist. I was 250 when these jeans fit snug I am 283 now. I could very well be wearing 34’s if they fit my legs! I am also shopping in the mall again. I bought some XL T- shirts at the gap which actually look good on me! Not that I was not proud of how I looked at 312 but the big and tall store gets old real quick.
So I am feeling good…..no..... great about my progress. However there is some room to improve here. I’ve been drinking……too much. Mostly just having fun and partying but I think what my physique would look like if I dialed that down a bit. I need to replace those calories with protein and fat that my body can use.
I have about 6 weeks to Vegas and 2 weeks to a huge party my friend is throwing at a night club. I want to buckle down for 2 weeks and really look my best then maybe take a diet deload week and dial in for Vegas!

I decided this week to increase my volume which means I’d have to decrease my ME stuff. I am weighing 282 and really looking dense and lean. I’d say I am in the low teens for bf% easily . Winny is working its magic.....skin looks thin and I am getting a little grainy.
Decided to use some machines to keep tempo up….worked well

405x1x15 wanted 20 but dragging the bar up my bruised shin got to be too much.
Wearing soccer socks helps a lot with keeping your shins from feeling and looking like shit. Although keep in mind not all socks are created equal, some are much slicker than others and slick is what you want. I found a pair of Adidias at Dick's Sporting Goods that work great for about $15.

Gym was packed and "my" rack was occupied. I had to use a rack that was way too small for me and felt really wobbly. I could nto even get my feet wide enough. This threw off my game. I wanted either 500 for 3 or 550 for 1. Denied!

Just wanted to get a pump going and tan but I am pretty happy with the 120 x5 DB shoulder press. I wish my gym had some 150+ DBs to challenge me on the bench.

Been carbing up since Wednesday night. I needed a mental and physical break. I cut back on the carbs today but I am still feeling full and strong. Going to attempt a DL PR tonight! 675....maybe 700

Just an update. BW is down to 277. Feeling lean but my waist is a little looser than I would like. Strength is good but I only get a few good sets in before I crash.
I may run this diet for another week then go back to a lean protein veggie kind of thing. I'll lose a couple more pounds and fill out before Vegas that way.
Please tell me you aren't turning into All Show n' No Go.
