View Full Version : How lean (BF%) are the ladies in the figure competition...

I have this personal trainer at my gym that came to me for a diet for an upcoming figure competition she plans on entering in 10 weeks.

My question is how lean do I need to get her.What is the judging criteria? Do these ladies come in with full abs?Are the judges wanting the ladies a little softer ? Or dry,hard and muscular?

She was told they compete at 12%BF.

I would think that the Figure and the Fitness Comps. would be the same except there isn't a fitness round in the Figure Comp. But the physiques are judged the same and the ladies are comming in in same conditioning.


I would appreciate any info on these competitions as well.

I would use how she looks more than numbers, if you can start to see a few abs, she is probably getting to lean - but that can depend on where she holds the most fat. Hey, it's new to everyone. Going to take a few to let the dust settle out.

It also depends on how she holds her weight and her proportions.

FC did a bunch of these last year (non-npc)and she came in at about 11%

They've been using my part of the world as a teething ground for these competitions. All I can say is the judging certainly appears subjective! And changes a lot from year to year. But the last few comps I've been to, the biggest and leanest women were taking the top placing. Don't pay any attention to the %bf like WarLobo says. Just make sure she looks the best she can top to bottom.

Thank you for the info.I agree with you,I was using the BF % as a reference for us since it is hard to gage "how lean" over the internet.

She is holding most of her fat on her butt and legs and she has small breasts which also make her butt look bigger.

She is going to do her cardio in the morning 4 days a week for an hour instead of 2x @30min. which she has been doing.(Thanks Warlobo your explaination worked,she tried to talk me out of it but I refused to give in)

I think she finally started to beleive me and is eating 5 smaller meals instead of 3.I raised her protein and gave her smarter food sources

Her being a personal trainer I was shocked when she gave me her daily diet sample yesterday.I can't beleive the crap she was eating the past 6 weeks of her diet.No wonder her ass looks the same.

We had a long talk and she is committed to this.I'm excited for her.I'm alittle nervous about her butt/legs though ,she is doing this naturally and this also includes rx meds.

I would love to hear some tips for burning fat on these stubborn areas.There is nothing like first hand experiences for a lady from the ladies.

Oh and ofcourse this means Lobo and IG also!
