Why does it matter that much to get in ketosis ? Nothing magical happens apart from your stinkin breath :P

the stress that your causing yourself by worrying does far more damage any anything...

i don't know much about ketosis, but i do know about getting ripped...

diet looks pretty good (generically, I don't know what you weigh), personally I would ditch the cheese though.

That diet will make you flat (expected while dieting) and deff good for the last bit of cutting and ridding the last bit of fat off of you.

Bad breath was the smallest problem. I went into ketosis in April 2005. I was on the Atkins diet for 2-3 days (don't remeber exactly).

Eggs, prosciutto, brasciola, ham--that is all I ate.

What a horrible, horrible experience. World Gym felt like the Inferno coming down over me, I was burning then I was getting cold sweats and everything in the gym seemed dark. Then I couldn't sleep. My heart rate went up. I was short of breath. It was the worst experiment I have ever done with my body. Never again!!

It is a dilemma one time I literally ate zero carbs for 6-7 days, Fat and Protein,

Still could not drop into ketosis.

I threw all those little strips you pee on away, just reminded me that I could never reach ketoisis

when i was younger i went from 205 to a ripped 175 using 0 carbs mon-fri and then carbed up sat and sun....i peed on the strips and they basically said i wasn't in ketosis. however, i was losing about 2-3 pounds per week eating nothing but eggs, red meat, chicken, bacon, cheese, ham, salami, whey, and salmon. i don't think those strips are very accurate is what i'm saying....go by how you look and if your losing the lbs.

That could be the case, also...

Are you drinking alot of water???? You could be in ketosis but your water intake is diluting your urine, hence giving diluted results. Just a thought. I had that issue last year.

I was just about to say the same thing. If your breath is kickin' worse than kung-fu theater and you feel half as bad as Fillet16 did in the gym when she went through 0 carbs, I'd bet you're in ketosis!

Isn't it also possible that he could be burning off the ketones that his body is producing?

I wouldn't go by those strips. I've heard a lot of people say what you're saying. In fact, I'm on a ketogenic diet now and just messing around in lab the other day, I tested the ketones in my urine....negative! Bottom line- if you're losing fat, who cares?

For my employment, i have a resident who is an unstable type 1 diabetic. I have to monitor her sugar levels, moderate her diet, give her the proper shots, test her urine for keytones. If she even remotely shows a trace of keytones showing up in her urine she has to get rushed to the hospital. She is 11 years old. Why do some of you try to get your body into ketosis and if she get there, it's a dangerous thing. I'm very new to this topic and have had to take a lot of classes here to get familiar with everything.

Yup, that the key, you drink 2 gallons a day you will pretty much dilute them out.

Evidence, its a different story for healthy people than for diabetics. I don't have a good medical definition or justification but the reason people are wanting to get into ketosis is because in that state you body is burning fat and not carbs for energy, leading to greater fat loss.
