I get this pain in my leg when I do squats. I keep my feet pointed slightly out and come down a bit below parallel.
Here is where the pain is

Hi Ralph - can you give some more info? I.e do you feel it ALL the time, always have? Do you stretch at all? Does it hurt like that when you do any other movement? Does weight affect it? I.e. can you do a bodywt squat w/o pain?

Its kind of like a cramp almost. it isnt so bad I have to stop working out, but it is there. It usually only happens during back squats but I have gotten it during leg presses as well. To warm up I do about 3 minutes on the elliptical, 2 dynamic warm ups, some full squats holding a medicine ball, and some light squats.

Nice work Sassafrass!!! :sbt:
Ralph - can you dig in with your thumb and feel the pain? Hurt at anytime else throughout the day or when you get up? Was there once event where you remember it hurting and going "oh crap" to yourself?
For that area you are looking at a hip flexor, rectus femoris, or possibly adductor strain.
If you sit and cross you arms on your chest, lift your leg up (knee bent) and have someone push down. Pain? = hip flexor
Lay back on your bed with legs hanging off, knees bent. Lift your leg like doing leg extension with someone pushing down. Pain? = rectus femoris
Do one leg adduction standing or seated. Hurt? = adductor
Now, there is also a phantom pain that people can get in the hip area. Kind of like a deep burn or pinching. It is weird and manual muscle testing or joint loading/manipulation cannot reproduce the pain. It usually goes away by itself.

If the pain occurs towards the rear and you wife is present it means she's a pain in your ass!!
