Someone made this statement and it reminded me of a topic I wanted to bring up...this being the topic.

quote:
It is much easier to be critical and mean spirited rather than to do it. They are envious.

This is so true it's disgusting. Why is it that the better you do, the more people try to hold you down? I have been training a woman for about 1 and 1/2 years now and she has made amazing progress. She was 6'0 (and still is http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) and weighed 178 lbs when I started training her. All of her co-workers were rooting her on and wishing her luck on her fitness venture. Now, she is weighing right around 151 at 6 foot...and all her co-workers say now is, "your too skinny....you need to not workout so much". Or they won't ask her to go to lunch because they know she doesn't eat anymore. Truth is they don't want their fat-asses to be seen with her. I have had the same thing happen to me and most exercisers I talk to are treated the same way.

I wonder if this has something to do with the way steroids are being admonished. Someone once said that it is more socially acceptable to admit to cocaine use than to steroid use. And that is true if you ask me. Are people just so absurdly jealous that they will take any means necessary in order to keep other people fat and ugly like themselves?

It just amazes me how people can be about other people looks. If you get a new car everyone says, "wow, that's cool!" or if you get a new outfit or hearcut you get the same reaction. But if you get your ass into shape, it's a completely different story. The same woman I train told me that the only people who support her now are the people at the gym and me.

That's pretty damn sad.... Someone works hard for something and people look down on them for it. Bottom line is...because they are jealous. That and I believe because of our reality t.v. it is becoming ever increasingly P.C. to judge other people openly, no matter how that makes them feel.

Or maybe I'm just ranting because I hate people! http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Cool, I hate people too http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I agree with you 100%. It makes me so mad that people are so jealous all the time. I know my boss tries to get me to eat crap all of the time and when I say no she mocks me and says stuff like "thats right, youre on a diet". It really pisses me off. Im sorry if I dont want to be ashamed to put on a bathing suit like you are. I mean I tried to help her so many times but she just doesnt listen and I tried to give her support when she was making some (any or minimal) progress. Cant she say instead "you look better since you havent been eating this stuff", instead of mocking me for not eating it?

I also see a lot of this jealousness when it comes to sports that I play. Guys who were so nice to me when I met them and got on their teams take shots at me all the time now and only because they are jealous that I am better than them and now I stand out more than them.

Why cant people just be happy for each other? I am happy when someone I know does well, why cant anyone ever return the favor?

Youre also right about steroids being less acceptable than other drugs. I have been waiting for this to finally happen and it did today: someone in the press actually had the balls to ask Jason Giambi if the tumor that he has was caused by steroids.

The reason I hate people is because they are so dumb and insecure http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

I have only had a couple people do that to me. One recently in the gym when the manager said I was looking buffed and trainer next to him said, "yeah just a little TOO buffed" and rolled his eyes.
I don't hide my use though, I was wearing my Organon Athletic Dept T-shirt.

I don't think I get that as much as you guys because for the most part no one says shit to an older guy that looks as good as I do. If you're younger they think steroids, at my age they think, lifetime of devotion. Another age perk.

Hey C. Yup, Mrs. B lives that every day. Same place, same people and STILL, after two years, she gets that all the time. And that's when she's WAAAY off contest shape. You should hear the shit when she's on contest diet. I'd blow a gasket http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Then there's her family... when we're not around, they brag her up like crazy (it gets back to us), but face-to-face they are downright F'n NASTY. I get mad and she gets mad at me for getting mad... guess some people "take it" and some don't.

Nobody bothers me at work. They "make like" they're interested. My new nickname here is tiny... hope they're not talkin' about my balls http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

I hate negative people myself. I may not be mister positive but I don't bash a person for trying to look there best. It takes great strides to get a non-fit person into shape or gain muscle mass become lean or eventually become a bodybuilder or fitness enthusiast. I think the general public has a general misconception of bodybuilding, powerlifting or anything to do with weight lifting because of the media. This spawns opininions instead of researching the facts on training, dieting, supplements and the hardwork that has to be done to be in good shape. If it was easy then every one would do it. Most average persons dont even exercise let alone watch there diet! And yet have an opinion on lifting weights. I have been accused of a great many different things because of haters, this is of course when I was in a more pleasing shape as a BB, its just jealousy on the haters part, they just don't work hard enough for it. I know in reality I worked hard for the muscle mass and strength that I have and well as of all of you have too. If you want it bad enough you will do anything to get there and thats what it takes to succeed, hard work, dedication and the desire! Shrug off the haters because there inferior! It wastes a lot of mental energy when you think about it to much. Constructive anger is best taken out in the gym but it is always good to vent. I just may work myself up to have a good day squatting!

1911 put it best.

When I was finishing a summer cutting program a few years back, he said "Your friends and colleagues must be seething with envy."

S-E-E-T-H-I-N-G with envy. Exactly. What an ugly thing to be filled with.

Fuck 'em. Stay away from 'em.

There is a Chinese saying that is something like "The higher the tree grows the stronger winds it must endure" - something like that.

I guess I must be a young'n...when I went to my 20th high school reunion years back I had several people comment and one friend say "Are you on steroids?".
