Is it full blown osteoporosis HSJ, or is it osteopenia? Also, how old are you and do you weight train and if so how long? Menopause yet?

Bev hit all the important stuff.
Menopause can accellerate the process of lossing bone mass and density, but it is important to know where you are at now. Osteopenia or full blown osteoperosis?
There is a good chance that your doc will write you a prescription to do weight bearing exercise = be able to join a fitness/workout club and charge a portion to insurance. And if you have access to a medical saving plan you will also be able to put money in to the plan and use it to cover any remaining portion that your insurance does not cover.

I don't have anything, one of my friends does, though. She's in her...I believe...30s and I don't know how sever her osteoperosis is. She currently goes to the gym and works with a personal trainer, so i wanted to give her some suggestions. Her trainer doesn't want to touch her lower back or hip, though. So I thought maybe I can give her and her trainer a heads up.

Unless it's severe, which I doubt at that age, nothing is really off limits.http://www.afboard.com/forum/images/icons/icon7.gif
