Had some blood work done a while back and asked my doc if he could check my test numbers for shits and giggles. Going to see him tomorrow and was just wondering what numbers I should be looking for, specifically whats the "normal" range and what kind of levels are usually required to be prescribed TRT?
Canadian "standards" would be best but any/all info would be appreciated.
Thanks
Well, i'm not positive about range of normal levels. I think its somewhere between 200-800. Ask your doc to check total and free test levels along with a Leutinizing hormone level. That will tell him where the problem lies somewhat. My doc gave me HRT because mine [test] was 70. [I had been off cold turkey for ten weeks, without any PCT].He knows, im sure, that i have taken something on my own. I was kind of fishing for some clomid or HCG but he just went ahead and prescribed cypionate. I guess, being that im in my mid 40's, he calculated , that i was a legitimate cadidate for HRT.
I have several Buds, that were in the 200's, and got a script for it.

NOt sure about bio avail.
Total is something like 8.4 - 28.7.
Free is 25.0 - 80.0.
That's from the MDS data sheet that my Dr. got Last week.
What about talking Doc into checking your estrogen levels too;just for shits and giggles. And a PSA,for good measure.

the blood test was already done, now I'm going in and will see the results
prostatic specific antigen=partially shows how your prostate gland is doing.

@ Gamma-Dynacare (testing lab Canada)
Test 8.0-38.0 nmol/L
BioT 2.5-15.0 nmol/L
Estradiol <161 pmol/L
I was 18 on Test & 13.5 on BioT and my "Doc" said I needed to bring my #s up
As a side note BioT is not covered under OHIP. It costs under $100

It depends on the lab. The results should have the reference range printed next to your value.

That's odd. As I said, my control numbers where from a test I had just days ago. Who sets this standard? Do the individual labs have their own guidelines? I thought that was a government health thing.
My Doc doesn't wanna do estradiol. Says it's not necessary. :(

what the number you're talking for? all the other numbers I see mentioned are in the tens of nmol/L but yours in in the hundreds.
thanks
EDIT...looking around the web I'm guessing the 200-800 is in ng/DL and while the others are nmol/L?

Hey
Your ranges come from MDS (called Life sumthin' or other now) mine came from Gamma. I think each lab has their own ranges.
In the states Labcorp are different from Quest.
I'm not sure if the estradiol test I got was the ultrasensitive (more research needed)
The nurse told me that she gets more mistakes from MDS so I went to Gamma

Lab-Corp has two sets of ranges for T, depending on the specific test called for.
The most common Lab-Corp test has a range of 241-827 ng/dL. I forget the other range and when it is used but the range is something like 300-1100 ng/dL.
Rhein labs from Oregon, who does urine analysis has a completely different range. I can test at 650 on a 241-827 scale at Lab-Corp and then go 3 times over max on Rhein, which means I am uriniating out a lot of T.

Does that mean you are coming & going at the same time?

At your age I would take at least 250mg per week of test for HRT,
I have no idea what normal is, just from what I see at my gym and guys doing hrt
