As unmotivated as they are I can't imagine TB winning another game unless the owner holds their families hostage. You should see it tonight.

Ulter I really think that Calgary has been the better team but I think Khabibulin (however you spell it) has been the best player in the series besides Iggy.

Khabbi has stopped everything and has been out of his mind. I am suprised its not over already, and it would have been had Khabbi not saved their asses. TB would never have won the last game that they did if it wasnt for his amazing play and they shouldnt have even been in the last game.

That's right, I agree. Some of those glove saves from his knees were the work of the force. Humans can't do that. He's done everything but drive the team bus.

I'd also like to beat the shit out of Kerry Fraser, they yank him from game six in Calgary to protect his life after the bullshit he pulled in game 4, yet they award him game 7...And yes I know that's not "the" reason the Lightning won, but holy fucking shit, who makes that bullshit call with one minute to play in the fucking season http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

How did Khabibulin not win the MVP? He is the only reason they won! That series would have ben over a long time ago, 4-1 in favor of the Flames if it wasnt for him. He got robbed, that MVP should have been his.

Congrats Ulter. I have to say I was truly surprised. J, to me it seemed the Flames didn't show till the last 5 minutes of the game.

In any event, that was one of the best series in memory for me. Great hockey!

Charging is such a judgement call and that was poor judgement, if anything he got his stick up as a result of the hit, but a charge, c'mon. Hitting that little 5'7 shit makes any hit look bigger than it really is. And Richards deserved the Conn Smythe, he was night in and night out their best player, habby had almost as many off nights as good nights, which is a big reason why they hadn't won two in a row since the Montreal series. Oh well they won, they deserved it, does anyone in Tampa care this morning? http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

It had nothing to do with the players size. He drew a lot of blood, he had both hand on his stick as he smashed it into St Louis' face to put a 4CM gash on his forehead. How can you NOT call that?
That 5'7" little shit is going to take the MVP home.
Where was Iggy in this game?

Thanks...you just made my argument for me, it was not a charge, it was a high stick if anything from contact. I love your version of the hit, comical, you make it sound as if he came in trying to cross check him in the face. From what I remember from when I played hockey, I generally had both hands on my stick too. And I really don't think Kerry Fraser saw the blood when he raised his hand, unless by some chance he has magical powers which allow him to see from the other side of the glass. I'm glad living in Florida has given you such passion for the Lightning http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif. Maybe next year when the Martin and Keenan turnaround the panthers you can have a new team http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

http://www.anabolicfitness.net/smileys/lol2[1].gif Not trying to make fun of Ulter but I hate people that have no loyalty towards their home teams. No matter where I live, South Jersey, Tampa, or wherever, I will always and I mean always be a Philly sports fan. I have been in Tampa for 3 years and have seen the Bucs and now the Lightning win. I can proudly say that I hate both teams more now then when I arrived. All of my friends that I went to school with will root for any team who is winning. For example they will act like they are true Boston fans but then they are rooting for the Lightning. If they were true Boston fans like they say then they would never think about rooting for anyone but the Bruins.

BTW Ulter I know that you are a loyal sports fan to your Chicago teams so this was not directed at you. My friends have been really bothering me with this crap lately and I had to rant.

Curious, did ABC show you guys the shot of the puck that actually crossed the line in the 3rd period of game 6 that would have given the flames the cup? I agree the call has to be made right away, you can't decide 10 minutes later that the puck was actually in, but it was..did you guys see it? And Mickey I love having my emotions trampled on by fairweather fans, I can only hope the Cubs make the playoffs, my new favorite team in baseball will be who ever they play http://www.anabolicfitness.net/smileys/tounge[1].gif

I think your memory of the play is either fuzzy or selective. I have it on Tivo and I can see blood when the whistle blew.
What I meant was that he had booth hands on the stick, one on either side of St Louis' face and he smashed it into his face, while facing him, so it wasn't incidental. It was a stupid knee jerk reaction and he didn't control his emotions like he should have in that situation. I can't believe you're willing to blame Fraser like it was HIM that hit St Louis. All he did was make the call on an obvious penalty.
If someone is deliberately hit in the face with a stick and blood is drawn it's a penalty and your splitting hairs over who should have gotten the call because St Louis was on his way down to the ice when he was hit. He was on his way down because he was PULLED down. So Fraser picked the penalty that occurred first.
BTW - Iggy should have been tossed as well for his conduct toward Fraser in a play that didn't even involve him. In virtually any other sport if a player did what he did to a ref he would have been tossed. At first I thought he did that so people would know he showed up for the game because until he did that who knew he was even there.

No I am not a Lightning "fan". I am just a hockey fan who lives in Florida. Just because that's the only team I can see play doesn't make me their fan. I am not Marlin's fan, I am not a Dolphin Fan, I am not an anything in Florida Sports fan.

Footnote: This whole US vs Canada thing was made up in Calgary. There were more Canadians dressed by Tampa than by Calgary for the Finals. Where a team is paid is not where they are "from" in the NHL, they should save that stuff for the Olympics.

And the penalty that occured first was charging...funny not once have you mentioned anything that sounds like a charge which rule 47 states as

A minor or major penalty shall be imposed on a player who skates or jumps into, or charges an opponent in any manner.

This is a judgement call Ulter, not "oh he hit him and made him bleed does it really matter what the penalty was" . Yes because with one minute left in game seven he basically said " I think you hit him too hard" .." I think you took one too many strides towards him" That's the penalty that was called, not high sticking, not cross checking. You don't get to blow your whistle and then decide which penalty you deem most deserving. Do me a favor before you trash IGGY's reaction, do a little search online about Kerry Frasier and oh say the Flames in 89 when Frasier had to be removed with a police escort so Tim Hunter didn't kill him after he made a bullshit call in OT that led to Montreal winning, Do a search with Kerry Fraser and Mario Lemieux to see what he thinks of Fraser, Do a search on Frasier and Montreal from a couple years ago in the playoffs when he again needed to be escorted from the Arena. Players don't like him, coach's don't like him, he has a long history of making those type of calls because he's an egomaniac who thinks he's the star of the game. No Iggy didn't have a point, and I'm sure you probably weren't a tad nervous when he was double shifting(you noticed that right) in the last 10 minutes right?...I mean he wasn't working was he?..When Habby came across and made the save that ended up saving the game Iggy wasn't on the ice was he and he wouldn't have had an assist on the game tying goal right? And I'm sure you saw Iggy on the penalty kill right? Dogging Iggy makes about as much sense as Dogging Brett Farve, like him or not anyone with the slighest hockey sense can appreciate what he brings to the ice night in and night out. You'd probably take St.Louis over Iggy wouldn't you....don't answer please...I beg you don't answer that. And for the record CBC did not but the slightest Canada-USA spin on this series, was the whole nation behind the Flames, yes, but the media wasn't the reason. It's called passion for our sport. For the record CBC was constantly showing Live updates from Brad Richards home in PEI, so I'd like to know where your spin on this series comes from

If you don't think there was a penalty then like I said, you don't remember what happened. I don't know what else to say. I will try to put the video on the internet for you.

I was throwing beer at Fraser when you learning to write your name so I don't need to look up Fraser. I know much more about him and hockey than you think.

Iggy was the best player in the series. But only the first 6 games. He was a non-factor in game 7.
Whether I would take Iggy over St Louis really doesn't matter. Iggy won't win the MVP so save what he brings to the game for a year when he's a candidate. Iggy is not Brett Farve.

I wasn't referring to CBC I was referring to the Canadian press. There is nothing wrong with passion for the sport but it's stupid to suggest this is US vs CN because the NHL would not exist without Canadian players so why make a US vs CN spin the story here. Every American player goes to Canadian Hockey camps if they want to be good.

For the record Iggy is a candidate for MVP(second time), has won the Rocket Richard Trophy twice, the Art Ross once and would have won the conn smythe had they won, has captained his team to the memorial cup and scored two goals in the Olympic gold medal game. And he's my age, he will go down as a Canadian hero, he's that loved here and for good reason. It's been said a million times over, there is not a nicer guy in professional sports and from the 30 minutes I got to chat with him last summer I couldn't agree more. I'll give you one little Iggy story to show the type of person he is. Iggy is originally from St.Albert, a little city 15 minutes outside Edmonton and also home to the Golf course that my best friend works at. Iggy always returns home in the offseason (although this year he'll be in kelowna training at my gym and it's my summer mission to not only golf with him but have him hold an "ulter sucks" picture for me to post on the board http://www.anabolicfitness.net/smileys/tounge[1].gif...the golfing will happen if I run into him, the picture will take some work) Anyway back to my story, two summers ago Iggy fresh off winning the Art Ross,Olympics and finishing second for the Hart is at Sturgeon Valley golf course for a round of golf, My friend (hoeycow from this board) has seen him a few times before so it's not "that" big of a deal, well Iggy checks in and then heads out to the range to warm up. A few minutes later a few of the junior members(12 or 13 years old I believe) come in to the pro shop. My friend asks them if they saw that Iggy was out there, the reply no excited beyond belief and make a mad dash to the driving range to see him. Iggy being Iggy take time to meet the kids and let them soak in the moment, when one of the kids says "wow we'd really love to play with you sometime"...long story short Iggy was at the course the following day to play golf with a couple of kids he doesn't even know. Imagine the story those kids have for life...I laugh when I imagine them breaking down their front doors to tell their parents they are playing with Iginla tomorrow.
