It's Sunday and that means bulk food prep.
The chicken is in the oven and I'm getting ready to start the rice.
I have to take my first online exam later today so I'm nervous about that.
Sorry to hear about the board faux pas, I hope there was a backup somewhere. I knocked an entire office off the system one time by accident. "Oopsie." Crap happens so hugs to whomever is still kicking themselves in the rear.

What is Emerald Balance?
Anyone seen Bunz? she hasn't started a new log yet.
She is around. Her logs are quite detailed and she has been pretty busy, so it might take some time before she gets hers back up. ;)
Hey Que :) Don't get sick... fight fight fight. Hope the exam went well. Proud to see you killin' it.

Cold Fx works well too. I was wondering the same about the bunny!I'll have to try that one some time.
She is around. Her logs are quite detailed and she has been pretty busy, so it might take some time before she gets hers back up. ;) It's a super-greens type supplement that tastes like mint. Emerald Balance (http://www.sgnnutrition.com/emerald-balance/) There's a free sample link on their home page.
I don't like the flavor cuz I'm not much of a mint person so I don't take it every day.
I also have been sucking down Emergen-C (http://www.emergenc.com/) everyday as a multi.
Hey Que :) Don't get sick... fight fight fight. Hope the exam went well. Proud to see you killin' it.

Mike and I went out for a Valentine's Day dinner last night so that we could avoid the crazy people that will be out tonight.
We went to MontanaMikes, I had never been there. When the waitress arrived and took the drink order I ordered decaf coffee and a glass of water, no ice, no lemon.
I never got my water and each time she came back to the table I had food in my mouth.
The ceasar side salad was swimming in the dressing and I could only take a couple of bites because it was too strong. The greens weren't wilted but they were coated with so much dressing.........ugggghhhh.
I ordered steak & shrimp and both of those were ok.
The sweet tater that I ordered resembled a shoe. It was so dry that the insides were hard and at least 1/2 inch from the skin. The inside of the skin was black, charred and would crumble and fall off when touched but the outside wasn't black.
When she sat the plate in front of me my immediate response was "What the hell happened to that sweet potato?" (I immediately apologized for my language.)
It was obviously the last one that the day shift put in the oven and never took out until I ordered it at 5'pm ish. She said "Would you like me to get you a different potato?" I said "Yes please."
Almost 15 minutes later she came around to tell me that there weren't anymore sweet taters ready and I could wait 20 minutes for them to cook me one or I could order a different side. I asked for green beans and when I got them they were so salty I couldn't eat them.
The roll was so hard on one side that it was crumbling like a crouton.
I didn't say too much because I wanted to have a nice dinner with Mike and I didn't want to ruin it by being bitchy.
I'll be sending a complaint e-letter.
assholes.

I was awake and out of bed at 6:30am.
I got some things done today that I didn't plan on doing and didn't get some things done today that I did plan on doing. I spent longer on my homework than I planned and didn't factor in a nap.
I took a 4 hour nap this afternoon - I guess I was tired and needed the sleep and since I don't want to get sick - I refuse to punish myself for the extra zzzzzzzzzzzzzz's.
I'm headed off to bed because I'm getting hotflashes - -I just don't know if they are from the mensus or the flu bug that's going around........
I'll sleep on it and see if I can figure it out. ;)

Graduation Trip:
My daughter looked great! She's tiny anyway but now she's sporting some nicely shaped muscles-which she said she likes. :elephant:
(She's currently on a bus on her way to AIT for schooling and she grads from that in May.)
The trip there was sucky because there was construction and I arrived about 3 hours later than I had planned. This caused me to miss the opening ceremony of Family Day. :frantic:
Family day went well and grad day was inside due to rain. Didn't get much sleep because I wasn't in my own bed but we got up early and got to grad in more than enough time to hurry up and wait. LOL
She looks sooooo good and I think that she's finally (hopefully) done with the rebellious hell on wheels stage.
The grandbaby was there with papa and nana and was rotten as ever. :D Grammy got lots of GranPunkin lovins  and she and Mike picked on each other like they normally do. It was cold and rainy outside and when the grad ceremony was over we had to wait outside at their barracks for them to return and be released. When she was released for the evening we all went to brunch. After that Mike and I headed home.
The trip home was weird - one minute we're standing in balmy 60 degree weather sporting sunglasses and no coat pumping gas and at the next gas up we're standing in 30 degree weather with coat & gloves trying not to slip on the ice covered pavement and trying not to get sleet in our eyes. It sleeted most of the way home and when we got home everything was crunchy - - the yard and everything else is covered in about an inch of ice.
Over all the discomforts of the trip were minor and today is jet lag day.
:heart:I couldn't be more proud of either of my daughters.
Sounds like a fun trip!
Hope your over your jet lag and got better sleep when you got home.

:grouphug: Sorry for not responding sooner. I've been busy getting a few things taken care of. Life happens.
I'm in the process of cooking this weeks meals, doing laundry and homework. I sprinkled the powered italian dressing mix on the chicken and it's baking- I hope it turns out ok and isn't too spicy.
I've felt pretty crappy all weekend but yesterday was the worst. I trying not to get that flu-virus-thingy that everyone has had - - so I'm suckin down the vitamins a couple a times a day.
I'm almost out of OmegaSmart EFA so I bought some Evening Primrose Oil caps instead. (1000mg cold-pressed standardized)

Sounds like you have a lot to be proud of :)
I know how you feel with the weather change. I went from wearing a bikini in the sun to coming home to 2 feet of new snow. My car buried:( I can't wait for spring.

*****60 mins on the elliptical - Cardio PR!*****
Other than walking - this is the first time I've gone that long on cardio since I quit the gym 2 years ago.
I consider it a PR because it's the end of the mental barrier I developed upon learning that I had HPB - I'm terrified to exercise 'hard.'
I wore my HRM and kept my HR% between 69-76% of my max HR. the right music helps me keep pace and not watch the time.
I shamefully admit that at 33 min in I really really had to go p......I added the 3.5 mins that I was gone at the end of the workout. In my defense I have to go upstairs to the bathroom so that's 2 sets of stairs (1 up and 1 down) :D
I'm currently drinking water w/2 tsp glutamine mixed in. I may not be able to walk tomorrow but I don't care - I'm psyched!

What a great PR! That's a huge sign that your heart is getting much, much healther!

It's Tuesday and it's been raining all day. Supposed to turn to snow later.
Weird thing happened as I left work. I went out the back door like I usually do and looked down the alley I noticed a guy in a rain coat standing in the middle of the alley so I went the other way. I couldn't tell what he was doing or anything it was raining and I was trying to hurry.
A few seconds later I hear someone running up behind me yelling "maam maam excuse me maam......" Freaked me out a little. It turns out the guy in the alley was the photog from the local paper; he wanted to know if he could use my photo in the paper and I said "ok." He took down my name and we went our separate ways.
No elliptical this evening - going to get my hair done. Cut in long layers and color all over to cover the grey. My hair is 3-4 inches shorter now.

College: I think I will skip the summer semester and pick back up in the fall. The summer semester is a shortened semester and the next few classes that I need to take are 'meatier' courses so I want a full semester to absorb the info. I have toyed with the idea of taking one of the gen ed classes over the summer to get it out of the way but I'm not sure yet.
I really need to spend the time working on the home repairs that I didn't get to do because I was working the 2nd job.

As far as appetite. Nicotine is great for snuffing it out (pardon the pun!) ;). Chew or dip kills my appetite like a mofo and we all know chicks dig mouthfulls of cancerous spit. Add a cowboy hat and wornout tight jeans and yr going to be a sex machine.

You didn't have good results from the Trex right? Only other suggestion is to look into Dietex & check the ingredients.....works for some....
Otherwise I'd say your meal of 6oz chix/rice/pretzels was too carb heavy. Switch out the carbs for a LOT of veggies......like 4 cups or so.....I mean a LOT....or a HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE salad....you can stuff that gullet with very little cals....should fill you up a bit.
When I competed, I drank Xtend in between meals & that helped too.

I generally eat a crapload of veggies in the evenings. Now that it's starting to warm up outside it will be easier to eat a cold salad for lunch.
I bought some otc green tea supps and I took them today between meals, and I think it helped. Not sure if it was mental or the pills but it seemed to help curb my appetite today.
I'll have to look into the Xtend & Dietex to make sure the ingredients won't interfere with my blood pressure meds and that they aren't stimulants.

Xtend is definitely not a stimulant, it's just powdered Branched chain amino acids and the flavors are yummy. But check to be sure anyway...
You can have hot veggies at lunch too....I like to eat a bag (whole thing) of them heated with my chicken....

I have lots of things happening from now to the end of the month but I'll try to keep my log up to date.
I am so very proud of you. I *KNOW* what an issue the feeling of hunger can be.
Here's the bottom line: If you are hungry, your body is telling you to eat more. More healthy, great calories. That's it. Your body doesn't lie. If you are full and eating right and often, your body won't have time to crave anything.
Regardless of the diet you are on, trust the mini-Que inside. She's no fibber.

I can eat 6 oz chicken, 1 cup brown rice & 1 fruit cup and within an hour to hour and a half max my stomach is growling loud enough the woman I sit next to can hear it. Apparently mini-Que is a hungry lil heffer!
I ate 2 whole eggs + 6 egg whites at 6:30am this morning.........it's 7:45am and I'm hungry again. I'm drinking my coffee and repeating to myself "I;m not hungry, I'm not hungry, I'm not hungry....."
How much water are you drinking in a day? I know when I upped my water intake, my hunger subsided, though I still get the nag late at night it is much better.

Maybe try adding some fiber to your breakfast to keep you full longer. Throw some spinach, peppers and onions into that omelette. Mini-Que, you are doing great. Hang in there.the veggies would add too many carbs - I don't have carbs for the first few hours that I'm awake and the last few hours before bed. (Anafit Method)
How much water are you drinking in a day? I know when I upped my water intake, my hunger subsided, though I still get the nag late at night it is much better.Anywhere from 1/2 gallon and up. If I'm feeling hungry I drink water first. Then I have a small container of fiber at my desk and sometimes I mix up a cup of that. (I don't usually confess to the fiber supp because I get tired of the 'ld lady can't poop' jokes)
I thought the excessive hunger might be 'all in my mind' but when the lady next to me hears my stomach growl I know it's not all in my head.
lol, Mini Que is not a heffer. That diet sounds like it would be hard to adjust to-- I totally give you props for taking it up!I'm 5'4" @ 175lbs - I am most definitely a heffer and I can admit that.
I was doing the standard 40/30/30 diet for-ever but lately my hunger is off the chart. It's crazy.
I switched to Dave's diet starting Monday and several people who have done it or are doing it say that around day 4 is when their hunger began to subside. I'm hoping that's the case with me.
I'm hoping to get my bodyfat tested soon so I'll know just how much muscle mass I have and just how much is fat. I'm just waiting for the lady to get back with me so I can arrange a date.

Macros:
It's right around 1900 for the day which is at the higher end of my 10-12x bw range
Misc:
I ordered some protein powder and it was shipped today.
The Necter Apple stuff I drink in-between meals in hopes that it will help curb the hunger. Usually 1 scoop in 20-24 oz water will last me most of the morning - which is when I'm the hungriest. :dinner:
My new mp3 player came in. Sansa Clip - Black 2GB (http://www.sandisk.com/sansa/#/turntable-2/)
I chose it because it has a clip on the back like a pager and I can clip it to the collar of my shirt, tuck the earphone cord in my shirt instead of it flopping all over the place or being strapped to my arm. I don't know how many times I've ripped the earbuds from my old mp3 player out because the cord got tangled. It also has a radio tuner so I can listen to local stations if I want. Me likey.
My monitor hasn't come in yet.
It's a nice 20" LCD *sigh* I'll be happy when I get my desk back and this big monster CRT is gone.
Well I'm gotta do some homework.
edit to add:
I called about getting my body fat tested and I'm waiting for the lady to back with me on the details. I also asked her if they would be getting a "hydration Station" anytime in the near future. There are currently only 3 places in the entire state of Indiana that have them and of course, none of those locations are even remotely close to me.

I picked up some Necter -Apple flavored protein powder. They didn't have the Carribean Sky(?the blue one that doesn't have coconut in it.) I forgot about the xtend.
How is the Nectar Apple?? I didn't like the Caribbean Sky as much, too fruit-punchy for me......
By the way, according to FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal (http://www.fitday.com) - 1/2 cup of cooked peppers & onions is only 6g carbs, so it's not really all that much carb-wise....if you are that hungry, I'd say eat the 6g carbs.....

I had one today - the Blue Raspberry (http://newwhey.com/) - it was goooooood. It didn't have the normal nasty liquid whey taste. (I tried the Isopure in the paste and IMO that stuff is gross.) It sort of tasted like a blue popcicle. I need to pick up more of those, the vial makes it handy to transport.

Today was a bit dorked up cuz I got up late and that throws everything off. I also have a nasty headache that I can't seem to shake. It's different than the headache that I had on the first day or two of the diet.
The diet is making me constipated and I hate that. I have to start taking my fiber supps in the AM and PM because taking it once per day isn't helping enough.
As far as the diet goes............
Tomorrow is day 7 and it's cheat meal day. My cheat meal is going to be chicken lomein, egg roll, fried rice, glucorell, lots-o-water & tums w/calcium for after. Next Sunday's will be pizza!
Getting through the first round of a ketogenic diet cycle was the worst. I had never done one before nor had I knowingly carb-cycled.
I didn't really know how my body would react and I'm a little shocked (and encouraged) at how well I've done thus far.
I now know that my body can handle the lack of carbs and still kick out 60 mins on the elliptical. :boxing: 1 mental barrier broken.
I know that I can do this diet successfully for a while as long as I keep tweaking it and paying attention to myself.
I've had to substitute a few things here and there but I've ordered the missing pieces so week 2 shouldn't be as bad and may net bigger losses. I think the substitutions will have an impact on tomorrows weigh in.
I'm rambling again..... :nerd:
now I'm off to bed. :flowers:

Hopefully all my stuff will be coming in this week: monitor, protein, etc. etc.. I will be continuing this diet and see where it takes me. Need to start adding weights this week. :woot:
I'll be going through the cabinets and getting rid of all the temptations. The unopened items will be donated to the local food bank. Open items go to the trash can. If the other adults in this house want junk they can carry their happy azz to da store.

**CHEAT DAY - didn't log food**
Let's see I haven't logged in a week sooooooooo
Monitor came in - NICE!
Protein came in - the RTD's from True Protein - very yummy and mixes with water in a snap - no muss no fuss and no blender needed. the powder is in the container and you just add water. Worth the money - this tightwad recommends the purchase.
Max went to the vet and got updated on all his shots. Heartworm test was negative, fecal was negative for worms. - Yeah he's up to date and gets the new chewy heartworm pills and he seems to like them.
It was too cold to install the siding so I have to patiently (yeah right) wait for the weather to cooperate before it can be installed.
However....................
I got new windows!!!!!!!
:coolred::coolred::coolred::coolred:
I'm so far beyond stoked that it's just plain ridiculous for a grown woman of my age getting this excited over new windows. ....and the siding is next! :drinkbuds:
It's kind of embarrassing but I don't care - I've waited a long time to achieve these goals. Once achieved I can make new goals.

My house looks like a crack house in the ghetto - OMG
The contractor stripped all of the old siding off and the old aluminum awnings and it's down to the wood siding that was put on when it was built in 1940.
They put up some of the blue board but they'll finish that when they start installing the siding tomorrow - If the weather cooperates.
Even though the house looks like crap I kind of like it with the awnings gone. I may not replace them.
I have a training class tomorrow so I'll have to wait till lunch before I can come home and check things out.

I really like my house and I like it even more now that it doesn't look 'tired.' The windows alone will pay for themselves in the savings on my utility bills.
I haven't really felt like logging lately.
I'm concentrating on school work, house/yard work and getting ready for vacation in May.
I do really well following the diet during the week but I'm having trouble on the weekends. I'm also not hitting the elliptical because I'm out doing other things or sitting here doing homework.
