As many of you know, I missed a week of working out while in Sturgis and then last week had to take the week to drive my daughter cross country for college.

So...today was the first time back in the gym after two weeks.

All I can say is...OMG!

I keep a training book with me and write down every lift. I knew I was in trouble when I was on my third set of incline bench (still a warm up) and having trouble getting 10 reps. Forget about hitting my max weight before the hiatus..even for one rep! I ended up with only 4 reps 20# lighter than I did 8 reps at only two weeks ago. {sigh}

I was going to do pecs and Biceps today, but decided I'd better do a few weeks of push/pulls in order to get back into it. So...Next was DB press. I normally do 5 sets with increasing weight, 10 reps on the first 3 and then 8 on the 4th and 4-6 on the 5th. I started 5# lighter than normal and still only got 9 reps on my 3rd set and 2 reps on my 4th...no 5th.

All I can say is...WOW! You REALLY lose it fast when you don't keep up with it.

Looks like Meau has some catch up work to do! :-)

I guess that is what keeps it challenging and fun.

I'll do my weight and bodyfat tomorrow morning to see what realy damage I did over the two weeks.

It's just some deconditioning. Just start light and work back up, and you'll get your strength back almost as quickly as you lost it.

I know the feeling.... whenever I have a fight scheduled, I'm essentially supposed to stop lifting 6-8 or more days out. Then usually a day or so off after the fight.. I feel like bitch coming back in, weight wise.. ;)

I had roughly 5 months off from lifting. Lost conditioning and basic strength and knocked about 50-60kgs (about 110-130lbs) off my squat. Within 3 weeks of starting training again I've gained about 30-35kg of that back. I won't say 'muscle memory' because its not the muscles, it's the nervous system responsible for strength increases and decreases. You'll be back on top in no time.

I was forced to take 6 months off this year. And a good 4 of those months moving my left arm was pretty well out of the question. I'm on week 3 of back in the gym and I'm just starting to go above what was about 20% of my previous norms.

The shame of not putting a full plate on the squat bar is almost more then I can take.
