I never include pullups in my back workout...I probably should, but I don't.
Anyway...my chiropractor told me that he thought I should be able to do 30 pullups! That ridiculousness got me curious, so I did them tonight during my back workout. I was really impressed that I can do 11, especially since I remember a time when I couldn't do 1! LOL
But 30? Who can do that?
Good job being able to bang out 11! I can't do that many in row but can do 3 sets of 6. I need a break in between!

I can do one or two
Hmmm haven't done them since off-season all that much but then it was 3-4 sets of 7-8 :)
I will try on back day, which is Thursday though!

8-10 is max for me these days. 20 lbs ago I could get 15.
20-25 depends on how lazy i feel, or pumped up i feel lol

by myself? lol.. I can get about 6 in on a really good pumped day and the last 2 of those six may not be so nice, lol. That is a day when I get to the gym and have a mega rush going through me. I haven't had a good day like that in a bit. But I think its going to change very soon.

I don't do pullups so that would make zero, right? I'm guessing if I didn't have the shoulder problem, maybe a few, but pullups end up dislocating my shoulder at the initiation of the movement.
Not sure where he got the 30 from. I think I'd have been asking why 30, per his opinion. I mean, there are some of us that can't do them for one reason or another (like me).
wow you guys are strrronnngggg lol i can do maybe 5 at a time at most....

Depends if under-hand or over-hand grip. Under-hand I can do about 25-30 but over-hand I am guessing about 10-15.

I've been starting my back routine out with wide grip pull ups recently. looking to ass some size to my lats. i can get about 8 on the 1st set then about 6 then about 4 and 4 again.
i thought i was weak but it's good to see that others struggle with this exercise too.

I haven't maxed out in awhile. I just started doing the "grease the groove" method for upping my chins - doing at least 3 sets a day, just 6 reps each time though. I can knock out a lot more, just trying to build those up though.

My son and I really got into them at one time. Right now they hurt my arm. He and I both managed to get a one arm pull up about a year ago. I think my max was 39 or something. 6 weeks ago I was doing 3 X 15, and my max was 21.

I can do 15 at once for the the first set, then for the next set I drop to 6. I probably bench the least of any male on this board though.

The basic idea is to do a little of the given exercise every day - get nowhere near muscle failure with them, just slowly work them up by doing them on a consistent basis. Here's a link that explains it a bit better:
Grease the Groove for Strength: A Strength Training and Powerlifting article from Dragon Door Publications (http://www.dragondoor.com/articler/mode3/69/)
I've done this before with some success - moved by pull-ups up a good bit already this last year.

I do overhand chins about 30 but this will go up as am back on them again - been doing 5 sets of 5 on weighted chins once a week recently
On second set I can never do more the 12 mad how it takes so much out of you

It was FS who got me into them, believe he used to do 50+
Starting throwing pull ups in again (every week/session) last year and it made a huge difference.. I like the results. I usually do 4 sets of 12 superseted w/dips.

Overhand med grip I can get 13 to 14 strict.
2nd set I die at like 8 or 9.
I hate those F'en things - haha.

I haven't tried these in years, used to be I could only do one, but that was back when pushups were on my knees too . I will have to try sometime. Maybe when I have more food/carbs coming in than I do right now.

I like that style, to celebrate todays knee surgery, yesterdays WOD was:
10 rounds:
7 pull ups
15 dips
100 Speed rope single unders
fished up 5 sets of 20 GHD Situps... ahhh... the joy of agony... :)
