How does this batting lineup look... Lofton,
A-rod, Jeter, Giambi, Sheffield, Williams, Matsui, Posada, and who knows at second base. It makes me laugh because I said to my friends that the Yanks would go after A-rod sooner or later with the R-Sox failing to acquire him. They all laughed at me but the joke could be on them very, very soon. The Boss really knows how to stick it to the R-Sox. http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'm sorry, I haven't followed off-season baseball. Who did you say the starting rotation for the Yankee's would be?

OK, I've read the deal and I love it.
George is fast closing in on $500 million to pay ballplayers in 3 years PLUS $62 million more in revenue sharing and luxury taxes, with no World Series to show for it. The last three WINNERS of the World Series spent $180 million combined. That George is a genius huh?

Pornosonic,
I am a yankees fan as well, and of course, I hope they blow everybody away. I don't necessarily like Steinbrenner though, think he is a real asshole (another topic in its own). At any rate, I still think they have a weaker pitching rotation this year. The years that they won all these titles in the last decade, they had some of the BEST pitching. I don't think they are even close now, even if Kevin Brown's pansy ass is healthy.
It will be exciting though if they get A-Rod in there. Interesting is probably the best way to state it.

I love it... The more money they spend, the harder it's gonna be for Yanks fans to swallow not winning the World Series.

Oh Ulter, you are so full of sour grapes because your Cubs or WhiteSox or whatever the hell they're called couldn't cut it with the big boys.
Can you imagine bitching about any other team, I don't care how much $ they spent, because they haven't won a World Series in the last 3 years (though they went to the Series 3 out of the 4 last years, and took one of them for their 27th championship)? That's a laugh.
You can talk all you want about the Chicago Bulls in basketball, the 49'ers in football, and who was it, the Canadiennes (?) in hockey, but no team has ever dominated their sport - completely dominated it, for 80 years now, not just for a lucky decade or so - like the Yankees have dominated baseball. You shouldn't resent them so much, Yankee baseball is one of the few really enjoyable things about living in the Northeast. To be honest with you, when you resent them like that you add to the pleasure of Yankee fans (something you don't want to do) because it adds so much to the enjoyment that the Yankees are reviled so widely out in the hinterlands.

Well then I guess the Yankees couldn't hang with the "big boys" either. In case you forgot your Yankees LOST the World Series to the same team.
You're twisting the facts again Bjaarki. But just to refresh your memory I never said anything of the sort. I don't hate the Yankees. I really couldn't care less about the Yankees because I don't watch American League baseball. I don't care for it. It's the organization under George that I hate. To repeat what I said in Oct. and this time so I make it clear to your peanut, THE YANKEES ORGANIZATION IS THE POSTER CHILD OF WHAT IS WRONG WITH PROFESSIONAL SPORTS.
Cub fans expect the Cubs to lose. That's what the Cubs always do. To say a Cub fan is "full of sour grapes because another team won" shows a total lack of understanding of whole philosophy of being a Cub fan. Cub fans go watch the Cubs because they like the ball park, the experience, and they like cheering for the team win or lose.
"you add to the pleasure of Yankee fans"
YANKEE FANS!!! BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA WTF IS A YANKEE FAN??????????
Yankees fans are much like you are as a sports fan. Don't care about the park, don't care about the experience (except getting in and out alive). Their motto is win or I am not watching because I don't know enough about the sport itself to appreciate just seeing a game.
As I pointed out before the Cubs in a park that holds 30,000 less fans outdrew the Yankees when the Cubs finished 5th and the Yankees won their division just a few years ago. THAT'S pathetic. While the Yankees teams may have dominated their sport over the last several years their fan base over that period has been for shite. All the Yankees T-Shirts go back in the drawer when they are in 5th place in August and you could fire a cannon off and not hit anyone in that park.

Hoo-boy! Press that Cubs-fan button on Ulter's forehead and he goes ballistic. You can take the boy out of Chicago but you can't take Chicago out of the boy .....
I'm grinning from ear to ear right now. Brother, you never post so emotionally, so convincingly, so intricately, and at such length, as you do on this topic. Well, practically never. I really love to read your stuff on this.
You're completely messed up about most of your facts and, especially, about the conclusions and assumptions you draw from them ... but that's cool, how can you expect a boy from The Second City to be anything but hostile toward a phenom with the initials NY on it?
But this is a good read, bro. I only post on these threads to get a rise out of you like this.
