Antivirus software free? Can someone help out?

Guys I think I got a virus from my Instant Messanger (kids http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif ).

I need some antivirus software like Norton but I am cheap and dont want to cough up the $50 to buy it. Anyone know of a site that I can get it for free? I'm sure its out there somewhere.
