J and everyone else.....when are you gonna stop betting against the Eagles every week?
I hope everyone watched the game tonight and realized that they are a very very good team, better than most of you give them credit for.

Are you saying that you honestly like them to win on a neutral field vs the pats, colts, chiefs, titans,or broncos. If you can explain to me where they match up better than any of the above mentioned teams I'll give them more credit. I've said it before and I'll say it again you must be able to stop the run to win the superbowl, and if you can mearly just contain it you better have an offence like the 99 rams. I like Donovan McNabb, always have, always will..I have a couple Syracuse shirts I wear to the gym just because of that guy, but my football brain doesn't allow me to think this team can win the super bowl. They are better than AVERAGE,playing mostly AVERAGE teams, take a quick look at who they have beat and tell me how many of those teams are going to be in the playoffs. Are they a good team, yes I'll call them a good team, but your love of your favorite team has put horse blinders on you. Teams that allow people to run all over them don't win super bowls, if I'm wrong Feb 1st I'll shave my head, paint it green and post the picture online you have my word http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

In case you are curious here are who I think are the best teams in football

1) Pats - I said this 5 weeks ago when everyone was still on the chiefs/tenn/indy bandwagon

2) Colts - All the weapons on offence and do enough on defence, remind me of the 99 Rams

3) Denver - I hear you all now...denver but they are 9-5. Yes but they are also in the top 5 in both total offence and total defence, they are also the number 1 rushing team in the NFL, they are also 6-2 when Plummer has played, and an even more impressive 8-3 when Plummer and Portis have both played. They put 45 points up against the Chiefs, lost to the chiefs on an illegal clip in the first meeting, they lost in the final minute to the Pats without Plummer, and this week they get to play INDY, lets hope Portis is healthy so we can all enjoy a great sunday night game

4) The Titans- Aside from having trouble with INDY this team is almost unbeatable when McNair is in the lineup

5) Chiefs - Great Offence, great special teams, but they can't stop the run

6) Rams - on a neutral field they beat the Eagles, at home they beat philly, in philly the lose. 2 out of 3 gets them one spot higher than philly

7) Eagles - here on the record alone, they don't do anything that makes me think they can win the super bowl, yes they find a way to win and yes they are 11-3, but it's my opinion and you know what they say about opinions, like assholes everyones got one http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I just dont know how you can say that I have blinders on........the Broncos arent the 3rd best team in football. Just because they spanked the Chiefs doesnt mean they are good, they also gave up a lot of points to them.

I dont know if you watched the game or not but the Eagles just went to a natural turf sadium, put up 34 points and 400+ yards on a good defensive team, and killed a team on national television that was a must win game for the home team. They went on the road and embarrassed the Dolphins in a had to have game for Miami.

I just really think that was a statement game for them, I dont know how you can just act like winning under those circumstances against a good team is something to shrug off. You wouldnt be shrugging it off if that was the Broncos winning there last night. You would talk about the same stuff I have said.

They stopped the run last night. I think that you guys outside of the Eagles fan base dont realize that the Eagles are getting better and healthier here at the end. They just got two pro bowlers back, McNabb is getting healthy and they are playing like they should have been from week 1.

J...I dont know if they will beat the Pats or Colts in the Super Bowl but I do think they will get there....which I think makes them a lot more than average since they have gone to the NFC title game 2 years in a row.

And I dont take offence to anything. I love good natured discussion http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

best teams:

1)Pats, no question-- will win straight on through the playoffs.

2)Chiefs-- too bad we won't see Pats vs Chiefs SuperBowl

3)Colts/Titans-- the last game coulda gone either way for me w/ 100% Mcnair.

4)Rams-- don't have to play as hard as the Eagles and Denver to win with this kinda talent.

5)Eagles/Denver-- Both teams are playing well but the edge probably goes to Denver b/c who the hell do the Eagles play in the NFC? nobody-- the NFC sucks and there is no competition on the schedule.

6)Giants- you know you feel the same way but don't want to admit it http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Ok so I gave some thought to your guys opinions and did some research to try and see if maybe I was wrong and I just didnt know enough about your beloved Broncos and the rest of the league.
However, when I did my research it was clear to me that I was more correct than you....let me break it down.

The Broncos have one of the easiest schedules in football first of all because they have sucked the past couple years.
They are 3-3 on the road and an 1-2 against the "weak" NFC. They have given up more points than Philly, gotten killed at home by the Bears, and barely beat the Browns last week.
ALL of their wins are against bad teams except for KC and a Cincy team that was bad when they played them the first game of the year. Other than that they have run up a good record beating: San Diego twice, Oakland twice, Detroit, Pitt., and Cleveland.
They also lost to Minn. and NE. So basically they are 1-3 against good teams (KC, Minn, NE).

The Eagles on the other hand have one of the toughest schedules in the league. Have won at Miami, Green Bay, and Carolina. They also beat New Orleans. Yeah their division sucks this year though.

They have won 9 in a row. They lost 3 of their first 4 when THREE Pro Bowlers were hurt, McNabb, Taylor and Dawkins. They were also missing Wayne, Hollis Thomas (who is a big run stopper), Grasmanis (another run stopper), Burgess, McDougle, and Green......all these are on the D line. They also lost to the Cowboys in one of those 3 at the end on a special teams blunder.

Now they are getting healthy (McNabb, Dawkins, Taylor, McDougle, Wayne)...the rest are out the year, and starting to play well.

And I dont think that ESPN is crazy for ranking them No. 2 in the Power Rankings. These are guys who cover, used to play, and study the sport for a living.

And you guys really need to get off the KC bandwagon. They also have a patsy schedule and they will make a quick exit. Also, the Rams, same thing, they barely win every week. Their D of all things has been allowing them to squeak by every week. They are behind in every game they play and they play nobodys! They will also make a short showing in the playoffs.

My top 5 teams:
1. Pats- no one playing better or more consistent.
2. Eagles- Coming together and getting healthy...dont forget McNabb wasnt 100% last year in the playoffs, just got back from broken leg.
3. Colts- this team is scary, I think they can beat anyone on the right day.
4. Titans- They just play D and are so tough.
5. Chiefs- Will be making a cameo in the playoffs.

You mean the same ESPN guys I've beat with my weekly picks 6 weeks in a row?

Maybe you missed the part of my post where I said the Broncos are 6-2 with plummer, so if you want to ramble on about the other 3 losses that came with their second and 3rd sting QB's so be it. I could also point to the fact that the broncos have played 2 games without Clinton Portis and I could continue on this injury theme by pointing out they've played 2/3 of the season without their pro-bowl LB's Ian Gold and John Mobley. Injuries happen it's part of football and no team has had them worse than New England yet they are still the best team in Football. Yes Denver has given up more points than the Eagles, 4 of them, or 0.28 more per game, very telling stat. When the season is over and your eagles are sitting at home again without a superbowl ring because they can't stop the run, I'll be here to say I told you so

My final thought, Eagles are Rams are not better than who ever comes out of the AFC. The Rams are the only NFC team that can win the Super Bowl. Btw you still haven't explained to me my very first question

Well here goes nothing.......

1. Pats- I think they dont have a running game, I think they rely on the big play, dont score a lot, and have a very good D with a very good coach. I think the Eagles corners and Dawkins can contain the big plays that they rely on. I also think that the Eagles, now that they are rolling, can score on anyone.

2. Colts- Now this is the team that I dont know if the Eagles can beat. If it was best out of 3 I would say that the Colts would win that series, but as we know its only one game. In that case anything can happen. Again, I think they can contain the big plays of the Indy O. I do think they would have a problem scoring on them though. The Eagles dont seem to do well against a blitzing team, which Indy does a lot.

3. Chiefs- I really dont think much of them. They have a terribly weak schedule and they dont play D. I think anyone can beat them actually.

4. Titans- I dont think they can put up enough points throwing the ball (since George cant run past my sister the past 2 years) against the Eagles secondary to beat them.

5. Broncos- Honestly bro, I know this is your team and all, but this is one spot where I think you are wrong. I dont think they are good. If anything, I admit the Eagles faults and say that they are vulnerable. How you rank the Broncos 3rd really blows my mind. They have played nobody and I just dont think they will do anything. I dont think anyone else considers them the 3rd best team in the NFL. Anyway, they can be scored on and I dont think your boy Plummer can do anything against any reputable secondary. I see Dawkins, Vincent and Michael Lewis having interceptions if they played. And I dont think they could just run the ball and try and hope for 5 Portis TD's to win.

Anyway to address your thing about the Eagles run D. The reason they have been getting run on but not scored on is one man....Brian Dawkins. He makes big tackles. Now that he is back people may run on them, but they wont score on runs on them. He is a stopper at safety, the best in the NFL.

This whole time I have not been saying the Eagles are the best in the NFL. I have just been shocked at how you guys dont respect them at all. They have their flaws but I do think they are the most complete team in the NFL. They pass, run, play D, and have decent special teams.

Lets just put this to rest and see what happens http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif We need to debate about something else new since we both seemed to be too biased http://www.anabolicfitness.net/smileys/lol2[1].gif

Oh Mickey, lol. First I must admit that I have 3 mini helmets in my house right now, Michigan Wolverines, Oakland Raiders...and the Eagles http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif (along with my old school Cunningham jersey). One thing I do know about football though is that you don't win 9 straight(soon to be 11 straight by season's end) games in any league, conference or division just by fluke, to do it against NFL competition is pretty remarkable. My point is that the Eagles do belong in the top 5 in the NFL right now. I will also say that you being a fan will know more about your team than most of us here just by sheer volume of knowledge. I know more stupid details of the Raiders than any human needs to know. I know their favorite plays, strong points and short comings better than most (or at least I like to believe so http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif). My point is this...Even with the opinions of therealj and pornosonic which we all honestly respect,I think that the Eagles in spite of all my bashing of them last week deserve a top 3 ranking, why you ask? Here's why:

The Pats and Indy go 1 and 2. Pats obviously number 1 and Indy because of their overall record, some gutsy comeback wins (and almost comback against the Pats) and their two wins over Tennessee.

Eagles: Are K.C. and Denver more powerfull? Probably but K.C. got stomped hard by Denver who has lost to Chicago a couple of weeks ago and just about blew the Cleveland game that meant everything to them. On paper these two teams may seem scarier but K.C. hasn't looked dominant in weeks and Denver is the leagues most frustrating team.

The bottom line is that the Eagles are rolling and winning games while other teams are not. K.C. rolled up a win streak against cup cakes and still is held highly so why not Philly?

Eagles give up 128 yards rushing per game, the QB is completing 56% of his passes, your leading rusher has 578 yards. Your team gives up more yards than it gains, your opponents hold the ball longer than you do

The broncos are 6-2 with Plummer, my team gives up 92 yards rushing per game, my team has faced Jamal Lewis once, Tomlinson twice and Priest Holmes twice. My leading rusher has over 1500 yards and has missed two games. My QB is completing 61% of his passes, my team has rushed for 1000 more yards than their opponents, my team holds the ball for over 7 minutes more per game than their opponents, my team is 5th in total offence and 4th in total defence. Your team is 19th in total defence and 19th and total offence. And I'm done this debate http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think Indy will find a way to blow it and come up short again another year. They are too streaky.

I think Denver and Philly could go all the way. I'd watch Baltimore too if they make it post-season.

Lets put it this way, you both are doing better than my 'skins. Not to mention, the beatin' we're gonna get by philly in the nxt 2 weeks. http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

they gave up 177 yards rushing bro and only a bum shoulder stopped Ricky from rushing over 30 times, he was held to 18 rushes, this put the ball in Fiedlers hands which is not good against the Eagles secondary(which I think is the second best in the league http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif )

J...I just dont understand how you dont see that the Eagles running back committee is not great. Yeah they dont have a single person run for 1000 yards but they have 3 good guys.

Westbrook is becoming a star. He has 12 touchdowns this year. 7 running, 4 catching, 1 on special teams. He had 104 total yards the other night on 11 touches. Your boy Portis has 14 touchdowns, all running, and that is with 5 in one game a couple weeks ago.

Let me go on....The Eagles have 1469 rushing yards from Westbrook, Buckhalter, and Staley combined. They have 18 rushing TDs between them!!!!!!! Their yards per rush are 5.4, 4.3, and 5.0 respectively. That to me is pretty damn impressive. Actually that makes them the best rushing team in the NFL in my eyes. Look at the TD's look at the yards per carry, thats just sick. And Westbrook hasnt even played a couple games because of an ankle sprain. So next time you are going to throw their stats out, dont forget to put them all out there. You tried to make it seem like they cant run the ball by saying "their leading rusher only has 578 yds"....yeah he does....on only 108 carries http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif When you tell the whole story they become the best in the league.
http://www.anabolicfitness.net/smileys/banana.gif
Every other person on earth is praising the Eagles for thier young backs, Westbrook and Buckhalter except for you.

Dont forget stats are sometimes deceiving. You forgot to mention something after all your bad stats about the Eagles.......THEY STILL WIN, 9 IN A ROW IN FACT!
The guy who announces on ESPN sunday nights always says that time of possession is a stupid stat because it matters what you do with that time. The Eagles give up yards but they dont give up touchdowns.....and thats what counts.

J...Im not trying to be rude but its obvious to me that the only thing you know about the team is what you see in the box score and stats...watch them week 1 to the playoffs and you will see the true story. Stats lie sometimes as I just proved.

Hoeycow...I am glad to see that you are a Eagles fan http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I just think if you watch their games every week you would see how effective they are. You do make good pics bro, I see it every week, but you also picked against the Eagles a couple times and they won.
