View Full Version : Stupidest Workout You Ever Did

All these football posts reminded me of my highschool days. Our strength coach's (if you want to call him that) credentials were that he use to be able to bench a lot of weight. He was also the DB coach.
He had us alternate upper and lower body workouts. The problem was we lifted 5 days a week, so it might be chest on M, W, and Fri. Everyday was about 30 sets or so for either the upper or lower body. Of course, it was the same workout everyday too. He also had us to areobics in the summer and run distance - WTF??
It was not long until I did my own thing, which lead to some situations between he and myself at some points.
Funny thing, he saw me before my college Senior season as I was at the HS track doing sprints and speed work. I was about 210 at 12% at the time. He looked at me and said, "Finally lifting the way I wanted you to, I see." I responded, "No, not at all." haha

I used to do the same workout everyday, 7 days a week when I first started out. It looked something like this:
Bench
Pec-deck flyes
One-arm dumbbell rows
Front pulldowns
Seated rows
Squats
Leg extensions
Leg curls
Calf raises
Overhead dumbbell presses
Side laterals
Barbell shrugs
Dumbbell shrugs
Tricep pressdowns
Overhead extensions
Barbell curls
Seated dumbbel curls
Decline sit-ups
Leg raises
Hyperextensions
3 sets of everything, fairly heavy 6-10 reps. I actually made some pretty good gains doing that, but that was because I was just starting and I took in a ton of calories. I used to drink 2 gallons of milk everyday with protein powder and I'd go through McDonald's before school and get 2 breakfast platters with the pancakes, eggs, sausage, and hashbrowns, and an OJ, then at lunch I'd get 2 plates and 2 chocolate milks, and then after school before I'd go train I went back through McDonald's and got a couple fish sandwiches and some double cheeseburgers. I worked at a little gym so I trained for a few hours a day, then sat behind the desk napping and drinking protein powder with milk. Then I'd get home and Mom would have some super ready for me. I gained 120 pounds in the 11th grade (got some nasty stretch marks from it too). Once I learned how to train right my strength shot through the roof though....I was 17 and benching 440 and that was before I even thoguht about steroids.

My high school wieght instuctor use to make us do the "double century challenge"! Basically, if you did any exercise with 100lbs 100 times, you did not have to do the written report required, lol. I only saw one person ever do it, on leg extensions. And the guy was tiny too. But I remember he waa hella fast.
The same instructor also said if any one could eat 3 habenero peppers(in a row), they didn't have to do the writtne work either. And it had to be done after yoru work out. He had us all throwing up!
he also use use to make us do crazy super set full body training untill we could do know more. I friggen hated when we had to do that!
I remeber this guy was huge and super strong! And he had like 13 hernia's too! They looked sick. had no hair either. Probabaly a test junky!

Super-slow training. What a waste.

Squats on top of a Swiss Ball.
OK not really, but that would be pretty stupid.
