Default therealj's weekly NFL picks for week 13

therealj 34-12 74%
Sean Salisbury 28-18 61%
Mark Schlereth 28-18 61%
Joe Theismann 28-16 63%

Green Bay at Detroit

Too much green knocks the stuffing out of the lions turkey. Pack 31-17

Miami at Dallas

Parcells serves a healthy dish of run defense and turnovers straight from the oven. Boys 17-13

Arizona at Chicago

Bears,Beers,Bears,Beers, I prefer Beers but the Bears win the most meaningless game in the history of my life. Bears 27-20

Atlanta at Houston

A little serving of Capers (Dom that is) fills the Birds this thanksgiving weekend. Texans 21-17

Buffalo at N.Y. Giants

Bills at least showed some heart last week, so I'll take them in a mild upset. 31-27

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh

Bengals will be Bungles in Blitzburgh. Steelers 24-10

Minnesota at St. Louis

Hmmm...Rams 38-28

New England at Indianapolis

Finally a game worth getting a minor chub over. Best team in football wins due to very opportunistic secondary. Pats 26-21

Philadelphia at Carolina

Ok another good one...nice. Better team wins, simple as that, watch for the philly corners to have a couple sacks. Eagles 19-13

San Francisco at Baltimore

This game is very interesting, Garcia returns and the ravens look like they have an offense. Garcia will show rust and the ravens O will come back down to earth. Ravens win if and it's a big "if" they don't turn the ball over more than 4 times...yes 4, they'll still win with 3 or less turnovers. Ravens 24-14

New Orleans at Washington

Hmmm this is probably where I should jump off my saints bandwagon, but a closer look at last weeks Saints-Eagles game shows just how close the saints came to winning, couple that with the skins pourous d-line and I see a big game(again) for Deuce and a road win for the Saints. Saints 30-20

Cleveland at Seattle

Shootout in the making with the hawks having more weapons than the browns. Hawks 35-27

Denver at Oakland

All Oakland can do well lately is run the ball, and the Broncos have done a great job on D this year despite all the injuries, no this isn't me just supporting my boy's . They are number #2 in yards allowed in the NFL. It will be a tough win as these teams hate each other, but the broncos will prevail. Hoeycow will disagree but it will be out of blind love for his raiders. Broncos 24-13

Kansas City at San Diego

San Diego is horrible, but they do have a great back and KC can't stop the run(which is why they can't win the super bowl this year).Look for the chargers to make it interesting but commit a few too many turnovers to win. Chiefs 31-17

Tampa Bay at Jacksonville

Two teams from Florida, one with slim playoff hopes and the other with an overrated rookie QB who will be in NFL Europe for the 2006 season. Bucs 31-10

Tennessee at N.Y. Jets

I want to take the Jets, I really do. Titans 28-21

230lbs or Bust

Well unfortunately I was at work today so I missed getting in a pick before the games today. I would have picked Green Bay like every one else and Miami although not by the ass kicking that they handed out but we'll scratch those. That leads us to...

Arizona @ Chicago:
The Bronco Busters!!! Old Kordell's return to Colorado couldn't have been sweeter (even though he did shit). Da Bears win this one.
Arizona 14 Chicago 20

Atlanta @ Houston:
Here we have an Atlanta team who gets about 50 yards passing a game from their QB's. Vick is supposed to play, that is unless a strong wind blows, causing pressure on his leg and the bones in it to break.
Atlanta 20 Houston 17

Buffalo @ Giants:
What is with this Giant team? Do they just challenge in even number years? This is to my eye the same core that went to the NFC title game a few years back and was supposed to challenge again this year. The Collins Jeckyl and Hyde has to stop. I don't think Drew will make it through this game.
Buffalo 13 Giants 28

Cinci @ Pittsburgh:
Pittsburgh is not a good team, when will people get that. Cinci isn't a great team but I think that they have found a coach who they will go to war for. Even Dillon is on board.
Cinci 31 Pitt 21

Minny @ St. Louis:
I think these teams match up pretty well. Minny's ball hawk D should get it's fair share of balls to play with. They also have Bennett back wich is a big plus. Although the Vikes have been a dissapointment this last while I pick an upset.
Minny 38 St. Louis 31

Pats @ Colts:
Great game, which team will show up. There's a lot of great match ups here. Manning vs. Brady, Edge vs. the Pats D, Law vs. Harrison. I think that the Colts with the home field will move the ball well enough and maybe get to showcase that new found D.
Pats 17 Indy 28

Philly @ Carolina:
Philly has finally become the team that they were talked up to be all pre season. They have been quietly rolling for a while now. Carolina's D should hold them in a bit but the Eagles win.
Philly 13 Carolina 7

SF @ Ravens:
Yes Garcia is back but will he be there at the end? This isn't exactly a team that a QB wants to make a return against. Seattle's crazy numbers were just a blip on the radar. Lewis and Reed will win another one.
SF 14 Ravens 17

Saints @ Redskins:
Had I only watched the first half of the Miami game last week I would have picked Washington. Unfortunately I did and the once Miami got a break and the fans got going the Skins were done.
Saints 31 Skins 24

Browns @ Seattle:
I just don't get the Browns, they don't have muvh of an identity to me, they play hard but that's about it. Seattle looks very tough at times and very soft at others. I think that they will bounce back at home against the Browns.
Browns 24 Seattle 38

Denver @ Oakland:
The Raiders are the pick here and I'll tell you why. I'm a firm believer that in rivalry games all stats go out the window and this is the greatest rivalry in the NFL. The Broncos are coming off a bad loss to Chicago that put their playoff hopes in great danger. Oakland just about knocked off the darlings of the NFL last week, on the road yet. Oakland gives up way too many passing yards fo rthe personnel that they have back there, they will be without Rod Woodson this week too. The Raiders have been playing well without results, Mirer has not been throwing lots of passes but he has been completing those passes for lots of yards. Look at his stats from the last two games. All the recievers get the ball and almost all of them caught a pass over 15 yards. Oakland has one big win in them yet and who better to do it against than the Broncos at home to knock them out of the playoffs.

Broncos 14 Oakland 35

KC @ SD:
What is there to say?
KC 42 SD 10

T bay @ Jags:
T bay wins in a walk, the Jags have no hope and a 3rd tsring QB.
T bay 31 Jags 7

Tenn @ J.E.T.S.
Tennessee is just too strong for this scrappy Jets team. I agree with J though, this will be a close game.
Tenn 35 Jets 31

Enjoy the turkey boys!

OK, So I missed the 2 games but before the games started I honestly would have picked Greenbay and Miami. I hate football right now but this is for therealj weekly tradition-here goes the rest:

Zona at Chicago

Wow, 2 evenly matched awful teams this is gonna be a scorcher!
for the sake of Parody...Zona 27-24

Atlanta at Houston

Another bad game, but the the best of the bad here is Houston b/c they can play offense well when they want too-- defense doesn't matter in the game b/c there is none.

Buffalo at N.Y. Giants

Thanks J you make me proud, at least you didn't pick the Giants to get crushed- I'm weeping, lol.

Now is the time when the Giants really shine b/c it doesn't matter anymore-no pressure. How can the G-men have such a good offense and be 4-7? How can the Bills have such a good defense and be 4-7? Only the football analyst Gods like therealj can answer...but G-men all the way 23-17.

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh

lol, "Bengals will be Bungles in Blitzburgh" you should be an anyalyst for ESPN with Berman- I'd love to see the conversations between you two, it would be like the Cat in the hat .

Bengals 24-13

Minnesota at St. Louis

Tough one! I have to go with the Rams offense though b/c they are on fire. Rams 34-27

New England at Indianapolis

Some would argue the best team in football is the Colts, but I am not one of them they are third- I stay with the chiefs but the second best team the Pats will win here by a nose 27-24

Philadelphia at Carolina

Good rushing vs good D- D wins games, but not here b/c the Eagles run defense has a tough time with big runners. Panthers 26-17 although McNAbbs best game yet.

San Francisco at Baltimore

Ravens b/c their D is too tough for the mediocre offense of the 49ners. 19-13

New Orleans at Washington

I can't justify the skins winning anymore games they stink.period. Saints are surprisingly tough when they play like preseaon predicitons expected then too-- but hey, look at the Giants . Saints 34-24

Cleveland at Seattle

Browns have been shocking as of late but they haven't faced the Seahawks and are going to be shocked themselves. therealj made a good point-the hawks are potent. 41-24

Denver at Oakland

This will be a blood match. Oakland has something to prove against their AFC west rival and Denver can't afford to lose-- Denver needs to make it to the playoffs and win a game finally or their will be rumbling in the Rockies. Denver 34-31

Kansas City at San Diego

As I said the best team in football. Chiefs 41-10.

Tampa Bay at Jacksonville

Must win for Tampa and they will prevail-- it's about time they look like the defending Super Bowl Champs for God's sake! 24-21

Tennessee at N.Y. Jets

I know its the holiday season, spirits are high, and all should be forgiven but I cannot forgive the Jets for playing in the Meadowlands with the G-men. They need to dig up Broadway Joe in order to win a SB again, or atleast O'brien and then maybe they would have a chance. Titans 27-21

Well not a bad Sunday all things considered, my Steelers upset was 17 seconds from happening, my bills road win happened as well as my pats road win, oh yeah and the raiders lost their 14th game out of the last 18 versus my broncos and didn't even manage a touchdown

Hey J keep this up. This is pretty entertaining. I'm impressed.

I think the 2 teams that have surprised me the last few weeks are Baltimore and Cinci. Cinci always had the talent, they just neded somebody to come in and coah them right. Damn 'Skins...lol. If Baltimore's offense continues the way it has been, this might change some things going into th playoffs. God know Ray and the boys on defense will hold up their end of the field. Interesting.

Also, Pennington has them Jets pretty fired up. Should have went with te upset

Cincy has been much improved this year but I think too much of the credit is going to Marvin Lewis and too little is going to Jon Kitna. They are in the lower half of almost every defensive team stat and there is no less then 8-10 teams with better ranked D's that are going to miss the playoffs. Lewis is the defensive mastermind, but it's his 7th ranked offense that has been making 4th quarter comeback wins to bail his defense out. The last 4 wins they had were all from Kitna 4th quarter scores to seal the game. I'm sure Lewis has instilled some confidence in the team, but the bottom line of the recent string of victories this team has is Jon Kitna playing great while the D gives up around 20 some points a game. I won't even begin about how the media wants to see Marvin Lewis succeed and be the darling story of 2003, but it's very true
