Well, to my 3-4 loyal readers thanks for checking in again on what would be my dream job if I got paid for it http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif . I'm coming off a pretty darn good week, it wasn't the hardest week in my opinion but 13-3 still allowed me to kick the ESPN brain trust again, the only "good" pick I made in my opinion was taking the Raiders over the Vikes, I wish I had listened to my instincts and taken the Texan over the Bills too, oh well. So to recap the season totals so far we have

therealj 21-9 70%
Merril Hoge 17-13 57%
Sean Salisbury 17-13 %57
Mark Schlereth 16-14 53%
Joe Theismann 15-14 52%

Carolina at Dallas

Well the game of the week right here and I must say I haven't convinced myself one way or the other here. I wasn't that impressed with the fact that the Panthers had to squeeze out a win over a mediocre Redskin team. I was however very impressed with the Dallas defense in the Sunday night game against the Pats. The Cowboys offense was horrible and Carter looked confused the whole game. Well I still haven't really made a point here but I'm going to take....Cowboys 17-16

Detroit at Minnesota

Poor poor Lions, if they only knew the beating the Vikes are about to lay on them. Lions are horrible and the easiest team in the league to pass against so expect Moss to have a huge game, and expect the Vikings to play out of fear that Mike Tice will kill them all if they lose. Vikes 41-13

Indianapolis at Buffalo

The Bills are quite annoying to me and I really don't feel like wasting my breath on this team. Indy is much better on all sides of the ball and will win. Colts 27-14

Jacksonville at N.Y. Jets

The Jags hung tough with the Titans last week and had a chance to tie the game inside the Titans 10 yard line with under 1 minute to play, so they can show up, especially when Taylor is running healthy. The Jets also played well last week for 3 quarters and gave indy a mild scare. Pennington looks very good and should have no problem winning this game by himself. Jets 24-10

New England at Houston

hmmmm, I'm trying real hard to see my upset of the week in this game. Something along the lines of the Texans coming of an upset win over the Bills and the Pats coming in on a short week after an emotionally draining win against Dallas, but then I remember the Pats are very good and that David Carr is injured. Pats 19-9

New Orleans at Philadelphia

Hmmmmm another upset possibility here, ok I'm taking this one. Deuce will play great, McNabb will not and the Saints will come away with a tough road win and move themselves to 6-5. Saints 24-23

Pittsburgh at Cleveland

The Browns love to throw the ball all over the place against the Steelers and will do so again this week. Browns 35-26

Seattle at Baltimore

Remember I said this right now, the Hawks offense will not do a single thing against this ravens D. Does that mean the Ravens will win, not necessarily anyone watch them give up only 130 yards to the Rams but still have 30 points scored against them. Turnovers are a bitch and the Ravens pathetic offense always gives the other teams gifts. If the Ravens had a mediocre QB and one other target aside from Heap to throw to they'd win the Super Bowl. Ravens 21-13

San Francisco at Green Bay

So Rattay gets the start, whatever makes you happy T.O. I don't really like either of these team too much but don't see SF winning this late in the year on the frozen tundra. Pack 31-24

Chicago at Denver

Plummer and da boys 112- da bearz 2

now it's time for my rapid fire witty picks as it's late and I'm tired

St. Louis at Arizona

Rams win , Cards lose, witty huh? Rams 29-13

Cincinnati at San Diego

Marvin Lewis for head coach anyone? Bengals 26-13

Oakland at Kansas City

Not enough THG in the state of Cali to pump these raiders enough to win in Arrowhead. Chiefs 34-10 with a chip on their shoulders

Tennessee at Atlanta

Yawn....zzz.....huh school time....just let me sleep another hour mom. Titans 31-16

Washington at Miami

I swear someone is trying to punish me with these lackluster games this week, and if I have to watch another Miami game I'll die. And if Hoeycow comes in here and tells me again that Williams is the best RB in football he's getting a really nasty nickname. Here is a list of Backs that are better in no real order

1) Deuce(ok there is some order, this guys the best)
2) Priest
3) Portis
4) J.Lewis
5) Tomlinson
6) S. Davis
7) A. Green
8) S. Alexander

back to the game. Fish 20-13 YAWN!

N.Y. Giants at Tampa Bay

I wish I cared about this Game, after all it's the defending champs against the always tough G-men, right?...well kinda....Bucs are the only team in this game with a glimmer of post season hope so I give them the nod. Bucs 27-17

Nice work J man, a nice read for your loyal viewers. Since I have a little time here I'll give my thoughts on the games.

Carolina @ Dallas:
These two teams are almost carbon copies to me. Tough D, good RB's and a QB that more than anything just tries to not screw up the game. I don't think that Dallas will loose 2 in a row but I do think that Carolina may turn out to be the Patriots of a couple years ago with how they have been pulling off these wins.
Carolina 10 Dallas 6

Detroit @ Minny:
The Lions can't be that bad, they did beat the Raiders, lol. I agree with you on everything you say. Moss will go wild and Tice is one intimidating looking coach, I like that.
Minny 35 Detroit 10

Indy @ Buffalo:
The Colts loose to the Jags and then beat the Jets by a TD. Seems kind of shaky, maybe not. The Jags have shown though that they are a scrappy team and Indy rolled up over 500 yards on the Jets. Indy's D will sack Drew 5 times and the O will roll.
Indy 31 Buffalo 14

Jags @ Jets:
This could be a game that has teams with brutal records that turns out to be a great game. The Jags are the pick for most people after the last two games but I see a Jets win here with a big game from Santana Moss.
Jets 20 Jags 14

Pats @ Houston:
This New England team has been a patch work job since the season began. They've had a pile of injuries and continue to roll. I'm not a Brady fan but I think they have enough to get by what is turning out to be a tough Texans team with Tony Banks at QB.
Pats 24 Texans 10

Saints @ Philly:
Isn't it time for the Saints to fall apart yet?
Philly 28 Saints 17

Steelers @ Browns:
I must admit I had a great time watching the Steelers get physically pounded by the 49 ers. The world's favorite reciever, Heinz Ward, didn't look so happy after getting nearly decapitated a few times last week and the Worm Plaxico Burress drops way too many passes. The Browns will win even though this team is a bit of a soap opera as uaual.
Browns 28 Steelers 17

Hawks @ Ravens:
Ray Lewis looks like he did back when the Ravens won the SB, he's amazing. What's even more amazing is that offensive genius Brian Billick has yet to give him an offence. Jamal Lewis must be near Paytonesque to run for as many yards as he has with no air attack. The question is wether Seattle can muster enough offence to win...it may only take a field goal.
Seattle 10 Ravens 7

San Fran @ Green Bay, just think back about 5 years to when that meant something. As I mentioned before, San Fran impressed me. Could just be Ronnie Lott night but they played well. I am sure though that Owens pushed a team mate away during his TD dance after his little spinaroonie thinking that the Monday Night camera was on him in the end zone. Could you imagine if a team got so pissed with a player that they deactivated him even though he was a big name? http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
San Fran 28 Pack 27

Bears @ Broncos:
I think that the Bears are starting to think that maybe they don't quite suck...but they do.
Broncos 30 Bears 14

Rams @ Cards:
The Cards have beaten some good teams at home and the Rams barely snuck by Chicago. Rams still win. Although I have a feeling about the Cards here. I can't believe I wrote even this much about this game.
Rams 21 Cards 18

Bengals @ SD:
Everyone's got a soft spot for the Bengals and Marvin Lewis. I wonder what this team will be like if Palmer turns out to be as good as advertised?
Bengals 21 SD 7

Raiders @ KC:
I would like to think that with this being a rivalry game that anything could happen. Oakland looks destined to get hammered and you would think that KC will be all pumped because they lost to the Bengals. I'd like to pick an upset here...so I will. I also guarentee a punt return TD...by Buchanon.
Raiders 28 KC 24

Titans @ Falcons:
Stepped on during a walk through? Wow. This game will be a masacre.
Titans 41 Falcons 3

Washington @ Miami:
Miami was already therealj's least favorite team, then they got Ricky and landed his fav QB too. I too hope that I don't have to watch that team play this week. I don't know how I get so many Dolphins games living in western Canada. Maybe you and my bro Brett can get together and have a Greise bashing contest, lol. As for better backs than Ricky, I'll give you Lewis and Priest but your Blue and Orange goggles are on again with Portis.
The 10 best right now:
1) Lewis: rededicated and driven
2) Priest: not a fan but I can't argue
3) Ricky: Jamal Lewis with a bad line
4) Alexander: I love this guy, completely under rated one of the most tallented backs I've ever seen
5) Portis: doesn't look durable but he has amazing speed and cuts
6) Taylor: if he had a healthy career he would be no. 1
7) L.T.: great tallent lost on a brutal team
8) Green: will either drop the ball or break it huge
9) McAllister: big tallent bad team.
10) A Train: yet another good back on a shitty team
Miami 14 Wash 10

Giants @ Bucs:
The story of the week, Key is gone. Who cares. Gruden may look scary but he doesn't run as tight a ship as you think. The Raiders were one of the most penalized teams in the NFL during his time there. You think that Parcells would stand for that? I think he should drop the act and just coach. This team has some character players like Lynch and Brooks but I think that getting rid of Sapp would have been the better move. Let's call 4 fumbles for Tiki too.
Bucs 17 Giants 14

There you go peeps, enjoy http://www.anabolicfitness.net/smileys/banana.gif

Carolina at Dallas

Carolina 13-10...Although the C'boys have the #1 Defense there offense sucks so bad that if Carolina's D can hold 'em to a low score their rush offense can get close enough for the FG and the win.

Detroit at Minnesota

Vikes 31-17... J- you said it all.

Indianapolis at Buffalo

Colts 31-21...This will be more interesting than expected atleast in the 1st half b/c Buffalo lost a heartbreaker and will be looking to score some points at home, but since their Defense isn't playing like their D should(last week they sorta did)they won't be able to stop the Colts potent offense.

Jacksonville at N.Y. Jets

Jacksonville 24-21... this is my toss up game b/c both teams are awful and it could go either way, but since I hate the J-e-t-s, Jets, Jets, Jets so much it is more a wishful loss out of bad faith.

New England at Houston

J- 19-9, you think a FG game? There is a possibility for upset, but still:

Pats 24-10...Pats are too under the radar still for most analysts but I think they are going to be the surprise team come the playoffs again. Too tough for the Texans. You have to expect the unexpected with the Pats.

New Orleans at Philadelphia

Eagles 24-17...Yes, Deuce will be great, too bad he held out for so long b/c he would have been even greater. I hate McNabb even though I went to Syracuse, but I think he will come around now that he is healthy, if he doesn't lose his head and try doing it all on his own.

BTW...I went to U of Arizona Undergrad and they won NCAA Basketball Championship, then I go to Syracuse Law and they win the NCAA Basketball Championship...Lucky I guess-- I am a big college hoops fan, but my heart will always be with Arizona-Go Wildacats!

Pittsburgh at Cleveland

Browns 41-20...What a disappointment Pitt is especially their defense. Browns will roll over them.

Seattle at Baltimore

Hawks 17-10...Ravens D is awesome but special teams and defense will win this game for the Hawks due to mistakes. Good O vs. Good D, defense will win everytime but as you said it turnovers are a bitch.

San Francisco at Green Bay

Pack 27-24...Agreed!

Chicago at Denver

112-2 lol...nice score http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Denver 31-14...Bears suck and Denver has Plummer, so they should be rollin' again.

St. Louis at Arizona

Rams 24-10...Rams can still play offense and the Cards have nothing.

Cincinnati at San Diego

Bengals 31-13...Bengals are hot and coming off and even hotter win that will propel them to new heights.

Oakland at Kansas City

Chiefs 38-13...Chiefs are pissed and will take it out on the lucky from last week Raiders. Not even a game.

Tennessee at Atlanta

Titans who cares because this game doesn't matter Atlanta sucks and are ruined anyway.

Washington at Miami

Miami 24-10...Washington blew it last week and have no heart left b/c their season is over, and Spurrier needs to go back to college. Miami easy win.

N.Y. Giants at Tampa Bay

Probably the best game of the week! Two teams that are fighting for their reputations, and will play a real tough one. This game will be mean, dirty, nasty and mean nothing at all except for their fans like me.

Giants Baby! who else? I don't care about the score just a win will make me happy.

Good job boys,

quote:
Isn't it time for the Saints to fall apart yet

Nope they already did that at the begining of the season this year, it's a reverse year for the Saints, start bad finish strong. They've won 4 of 5 with the only loss being a 3 point one to the Panthers, The saints are good but there remaining schedule isn't that easy so we'll see. I have a soft spot for them though, don't really know why

What do you think of McNabb in the NFL- over or underrated?
At every school I have been hoops was good-football was bad while I was there, with the exception of Arizona ranked preseason #1 and on the cover of S.I. back in '93 and they turned out to suck anyway finished I think 7th. I was glad to see it happen because a former player now with the Pats- last name rhymes with Dumbsci(well sorta) was my nemesis. We hated each other so much that we would actually have to be restrained at bars if we ran into one another, or a human circle would form around us on campus with everyone expecting to see a fight. What was the cause of all the trouble you might ask? My girlfriend at the time(former Fiancee)...she was the teams trainer and a real hottie that all of the football players tried to get on, especially that knucklehead who was so pissed that I was dating her and he wasn't. God, he was a prick but a damn good linebacker. I still hate him though. http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

porno I'm falling deeper and deeper in love with you daily http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif . I remember when zona was ranked number #1 in the preseason that was grade 10 for me, Desert storm defense wasn't it? Anyway about McNabb, I don't think he's overrated at all, do I think he's an accurate passer no, do I think he throws a great deep ball no. But he's an unquestioned leader, great manager of the game, his dimension allows the short little screen plays, and underneath dimension of their passing game. Anyone who's watched enough Philly games in the last few years knows that Philly probably runs more reverse's than any other team in the league, this is caused by McNabbs scrambling, linebackers are so eager to chase the movement when playing Philly and don't keep backside containment. As a former QB I'm always watching these little elements of the game, the things that go unnoticed. I just checked on my hunch and James Thrash had 18 rushes last year in 16 games, 8 of those for firstdowns and 2 for touchdowns. I think a huge problem for Philly is the lack of a true possession receiver and a top level tight end, McNabb is the kind of QB that needs a good tight end. Favre and McNair who are probably the most similar QBs to McNabb have always had both of these elements to their passing attack. Long story short I'm a big D-Mac fan and feel pretty confident he'll look back on his career with 1 maybe 2 superbowl rings and laugh at all this overrated talk from 2003. The best QB in football for the last 2 years is black and underrated, but nobody talks about that spin, I'd take McNair as my starting QB over any other guy in the league without the slightest hesitation.

Now on to your college nemesis, I've always disliked that guy, I never really knew why but I have. He's a good backer like you say, but I've never like him.

I just noticed when I was re-reading everyones posts I used the words hate and sucks a lot when describing my take on the games and players. I don't normally talk like that I was just in a sucky mood and I hate that. http://anabolicfitness.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

J- I concur about what NcNabb's best attributes are but he needs to be more of an all around QB like Favre who besides the last 2 years has been accurate and a much better ball thrower than McNabb. Even McNair who I think is going to have a couple of rings before he is done has a much better arm than McNabb, and both had the same type of college game. My problem with McNabb is that although he can make things happen especially in short bursts, or clutch 4th quarter drives, he tries to do too much on his own, and acts like a RB instead of being a team playmaker. Your right this could be a result of lacking a WR or TE, but I don't think he would use them like say Favre, Montana, Young, or Elway who all could scramble like NcNabb but would rely on there receiving core if they didn't have to scramble. Granted these guys had strong arms, were team leaders(all QB's should be), and had great receivers, but they were also so unselfish and understood they didn't have to do it all on their own even when they could. He just doesn't want to give the ball up sometimes even when his game isn't up to par, and I think if he had a TE like Shockey he would probably just use him for blocking. But my analysis is just speculation b/c until he has a go to receiver his game will always be on the ground, and we will never know the real McNabb. Now McNair, before him I didn't know there was anything besides 1A football. I have been in love with this guy since he played in college, and the first time I saw him I thought he was going to be the second coming even when everyone said that he wasn't that good because of the weaker division, but game is game and he has proved it in spades. He was babied and groomed for so long that now he finally is becoming his own person and will shine even brighter over the next couple of seasons.

Yup, you said it all. I still can't talk about the Yanks, and football has truly lost it's luster now.
