A brief backround. I have been suspecting low test levels in myself for quite sometime now, i finally managed to afford health insurance and good insurance at that...shocker i know:grin: i figure for all this money each month mite as well get some things taken careof/checked. Scheduled an appointment with a female endo, who has the personality of a brick:hilarious:, nonetheless, she listened, drew some blood...:whistler: finally 10days later the results are in:

Cortisol: 22.2 (3-17 mcg/dL)
Estradiol: 41 (0-54 pg/ml)
FSH: 1.2L (1.6-8 mIU/mL)
LH: 3.3 (1.5-9.3 mIU/mL)
Prolactin: 11 (0-18 ng/dL)
T4, Free: 1.6 (.8-1.8 ng/dL)
Test, total 215L (241-827 ng/dL)
Test, TOT, LC/MS/MS: 204L (250-1100ng/dL)
Test, free: 1.84 H (1.5-2.20%)
Test, free: 57.9 (35-155 pg/mL)
IGF-1: 236 (126-382 ng.mL)

After the results came back she scheduled me for an MRI, to check for any impingement on the pituitary...Note to self...G21 doesnt fit in a closed MRI machine, they cacooned me to make me fit. That in itself is another story:). Scan came back normal, she wants to prescribe 4pumps a day of Androgel (note sure of the dosage strength), she says that "400" is normal for a male of my age, i assume she is reffering to the "Test, TOT,LC/MS/MS" level, i didnt have a chance to question her yet. For the record i didnt change anything to test lower, i consulted with Ulter, and i decided we'll just see what happens

Does anyone think its out of line to ask to be in the high range of normal? (of course not, not from you guys...)

No, it's not out of line to ask for that. But she's not going to give it to you. You need to find a sympathetic doc and take those labs to him. They are good for 30 days so get on it.

And FYI, you can request an Open air MRI for future purposes. Just tell your doc when he/she orders it. I be damned if Im getting put in that tiny hole. Not only that, if youre jammed in there, the quality of the scan suffers badly.

Good luck with the test.

I asked about an open MRI, the technicians said with an open air MRI the images arent as clear as a closed MRI, when scanning something such as my pituatary they prefer to have the closed version used. I dont know if theres a difference in power but thats what they stated. You mention being cramped in the tube, i can atest to that, they had to wrap my shoulders up to get me in, i might have to have my left shoulder done sometime soon so if images are compromised like you say they wont have a choice but an open scan, if i do, its open all the way; either that or sedate me.

Thats interesting, I didnt know that about open being lower quality in some cases. My most recent was my lower back, and as they pulled me into the closed MRI my chest was touching the roof and both arms were pinned against the walls. There isnt enough valium in the hospital for me to stay that way for 45 minutes so I said, get me the F out of here NOW. I could barely breath....

Good luck with all of it bro. Ive been crusing on 250/week of Test E for well over a year now and its just the best thing I ever did for myself.

Looks like we had a similar expierence, it is none to fun. I have a feeling i'll be trying to self medicate, im getting the run around from many doc's when i question them about levels and such. Oh well.

I have been taking 250 mgs every 5 days for the past two years on my own. The doc initially put me on Androgel and it only raised me from 300 to 400 total in a month. She said I was too young (25 at the time) to be that low and she wanted me around 1000. I am over that now and I feel great with no side effects at all.

Androgel only raises my test level to about 700. I actually feel a lot better on my cruising Test E dosage of 250mg/week.

Thanks for the assurances everyone, for the record i am pro AAS, assuming they are used correctly and responsibly. That being said i have never ran a cycle. The many doctors that i have called in the last several days has been quite a few. They get quite defensive quickly when asked basic questions regarding Test levels, prolactin etc. Personally, im not so sure i want that mentality regarding treatment of myself. We'll see what transpires in the next week or two and go from there.

Thanks again Bros

Go to a male doctor. Women don't want to hear about erections.

Both doctors I have been to have put me in the upper 1/3 of the range.

Open MRI machines use a lower powered magnet due to the design. For most the image quality is fine, especially with the newer software.

A lot of coworkers around here go to a mens vitality center and get a weekly shot of cyp for the cost of a copay along with complimentary B12. Maybe look into that if you cant find a sympathetic doctor or one willing to work with you. And the doses seem to be pretty liberal 200 or so a week of cyp.
